It appears Mike Leach wasn't joking when he talked about a purge because Mississippi State players are walking out the door frequently these days. Even so, I like the Bulldogs to cover here. Alabama has played two rivalry games in a row, beating Georgia and Tennessee. There's bound to be a bit of a letdown here, particularly following the loss of Jaylen Waddle for the season. Plus, Nick Saban's Alabama teams are only 15-26 ATS when favored by 30 points or more.

Alabama is one of the top teams in the nation. Despite losing their top receiver, the Crimson Tide are still going to score at will. The last time Mississippi State beat Alabama was in 2007. The Bulldogs have taken several steps back and have had several players leave the program. Alabama has scored 35-plus in 18 straight games and owns the SEC’s top offense. The Bulldogs are 0-6 ATS in their last six October games and just 1-7 ATS in their last eight as a road underdog.

These teams come into this game off very different results in their openers. The Buckeyes hammered a good Nebraska team while Penn State was upset by Indiana. The Nittany Lions have lost eight of the last nine meetings vs. the Buckeyes and just don't match up well here. Ohio State is on a mission this year. Look for the Buckeyes to take care of business in these conference games and try to run up the scores. Justin Fields should have a field day. Penn State is 4-15-2 ATS in its last 21 games following a straight-up loss.

BYU is an offensive machine with a very dynamic QB who is playing great. Zack Wilson has led the Cougars to 40-plus points in five of their first six games. and they rank fifth nationally in scoring with 45 points per game. Wilson has passed for almost 2,000 yards with 16 TDs and just one INT to go along with six rushing TDs. The Cougars have also been stingy in terms of scoring defense, allowing just 14 points per game. The Hilltoppers are 0-6 ATS this year.

Sam Howell is second in the conference in passer rating and faces the worst pass defense in the ACC. The Cavaliers have lost four straight since their opening day win over Duke.
