From Prediction Machine: Georgia Bulldogs -3.5
Top 10 SEC East Showdown
An SEC East matchup between top 10 teams is set to take place Saturday, as the fifth-ranked Georgia Bulldogs will square off with the eighth-ranked Florida Gators. Dan Mullen and the Gators enter the matchup with the SEC's second-highest scoring offense, averaging 42.0 points per game thus far in 2020. Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs will attempt to slow down Florida's high-powered offense with their SEC-best defense which has allowed just 16.2 points per game this season. It's going to be a battle of strengths in this ever-important matchup, and sportsbooks are anticipating a tight outcome. Our model favors the Bulldogs against the spread as they are currently 3.5-point favorites over Florida.

I love the value on Georgia in a huge neutral site SEC matchup with Florida. The Gators will be one of the biggest square underdogs of the season thanks to over performing in many ways to start the season. My simulations suggest the opening line of -6 was much closer to where the market should be. I make Georgia -6.8 points better in this neutral site matchup. Lay it.

Everybody seemed to abandon the Michigan ship after the loss to Michigan State, but let’s focus more on Indiana. The Hoosiers are 13th in the Big Ten in yards per play at 4.36, and only have six plays of 20 or more yards -- the fewest among Big Ten teams that have played more than one game. As long as Joe Milton and the Wolverines offense doesn’t shoot itself in the foot, the Wolverines should be able to take this by at least a touchdown.
OREG -10
STNFRD @ OREG | 11/07 | 7:30 PM ESTTUE 11/3
Oregon is the new Stanford ... meaning that it thrives with an old-school, smashmouth style. The Ducks just do it out of the spread instead. CJ Verdell is rock solid at running back, the offensive line is monstrous and it is hard to find a reason to think that the Cardinal offense will have success against the Ducks defense.
UNDER 46
VANDY @ MISSST | 11/07 | 3:30 PM ESTTUE 11/3
Ok ... let me get this straight ... there’s an expectation that Vandy and Mississippi State — 101st and 98th in the nation in scoring offense, respectively — are going to suddenly find a way to have any chance of combining to score in the 40s? Neither of these teams can put up 20 points against air at this point.
FLA +4.5
FLA VS UGA | 11/07 | 3:30 PM ESTMON 11/2
There's this narrative that Florida's defense is awful and Georgia's defense is lights out. That is not the case anymore. The Bulldogs are going to be without starting defensive linemen Jordan Davis and Julian Rochester, safety Richard LeCounte, and probably several others. Meanwhile, Florida's problem on defense (third downs), was fixed last week against Missouri when it allowed just 5-of-18 attempts. This one will be driven by offense, and there's nothing to suggest that Georgia can keep up.
CLEM -6.5
CLEM @ ND | 11/07 | 7:30 PM ESTMON 11/2
Please, please, please stop focusing on Clemson quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei. He'll be fine. The real matchup to watch in this one is Notre Dame quarterback Ian Book vs. a Clemson secondary that, if you're trying to find a weakness for the Tigers, is that weakness. There's one problem ... Book can't take advantage of that weakness. Notre Dame's offense is centered around the running game and an efficient passing game. That won't work against Clemson. The Tigers will win by double digits and the defense will lock down the Fighting Irish to hit the Under.

Introducing you to perhaps the most lopsided series in FBS. Michigan has taken the last two dozen meetings straight up and 39 of the last 40. This time, though, Indiana wields the superior coach (Tom Allen) and QB (Michael Penix Jr.). These are not the Hoosiers of yore. They have beefed up depth and upgraded athleticism. Unlike Michigan, they avoided opt-outs from the delayed Big Ten kickoff. UM’s opening win was devalued when its victim, Minnesota, fell to league bottom-feeder Maryland last weekend.
MICHST +6.5
MICHST @ IOWA | 11/07 | 12:00 PM ESTMON 11/2
The Spartans went from seven turnovers in their season-opening loss to Rutgers, to no giveaways in their massive upset of Michigan. Another impressive “zero” was sacks allowed. Replicating the virtual clean-sheet performance would mean another upset -- this time against winless Iowa. The Hawkeyes must fill multiple roles for the suspended Ihmir Smith-Marsette, their No. 2 receiver and main kick returner. The Hawkeyes also have an alarming trend that has seen them go scoreless after halftime of their last five Big Ten encounters.

CLEM @ ND | 11/07 | 7:30 PM EST11:01 AM
I don't want to understate the loss of Trevor Lawrence and what he means to Clemson's offense, but that's why you recruit the way you do when you're an elite program. This is still a very good team, as proven by its comeback victory over Boston College with freshman QB DJ Uiagalelei. Notre Dame is a very good team, which is why the line is at this number, but it is not explosive. Clemson will come up with at least two or three chunk plays in order to cover this spread.
TXAM -10
TXAM @ SC | 11/07 | 7:00 PM EST10:48 AM
Quietly, we're starting to see Texas A&M play well in all three aspects of the game. What has impressed me the most is how its defensive line is beginning to ramp up the pressure on opposing quarterbacks. Also, its ground game is complementing QB Kellen Mond and the passing attack. The Aggies have a strong chance to make the postseason if they can continue this upward trend. I don't foresee a slip up here against the Gamecocks.
ARIZST +11
ARIZST @ USC | 11/07 | 12:00 PM EST10:40 AM
This game will kick off at 9 a.m. local time, which is absurd, but in a good way! The major challenge here is not the early start, but how the teams will come out of the gate after a weird and truncated offseason. I expect a slow start by both, but that also means this game will be extremely close the entire way. Arizona State QB Jayden Daniels and coach Herm Edwards seem to thrive in games like that. Last year's meeting with Oregon is a great example.
MICH -3
MICH @ IND | 11/07 | 12:00 PM EST10:17 AM
I like this number for Michigan. While Indiana has been a great story so far this season, it hasn't beaten the Wolverines since 1987 and has won only nine of their 68 meetings. Michigan is much better than it showed last week against Michigan State, and its defense will give Indiana all sorts of problems.
WVU +6.5
WVU @ TEXAS | 11/07 | 12:00 PM EST10:10 AM
I feel as if every time Texas posts a dramatic victory, there is a massive overreaction. This is one of those times. The Longhorns were thoroughly outplayed last week by Oklahoma State, and West Virginia has a defense that's similarly built. Texas as a favorite of nearly a touchdown seems a bit too rich for me. The Mountaineers' defense, and entire team for that matter, has been consistently good all season.
BYU -3
BYU @ BOISE | 11/06 | 9:45 PM EST10:01 AM
This will be BYU's toughest test yet, and the small point spread reflects that. While Boise State has the benefit of 'fresh legs,' as this is only its second game of the season, the Cougars have the benefit of experience and will focus on the task at hand, which is to crash the CFB Playoffs. Look for BYU, which is led by Heisman Trophy candidate QB Zach Wilson, to take care of business.
MIAMI -10.5
MIAMI @ NCST | 11/06 | 7:30 PM EST9:57 AM
This is usually a spot where a highly ranked team that's going on the road to face a not-so-good opponent in a non-Saturday game loses in impressive fashion. However, this Miami team is built differently, especially on the defensive side of the ball. Its defensive line is one of the best in the nation and will keep the Wolfpack's offense sputtering all evening, avoiding the upset.
NEVADA -15.5
UTAHST @ NEVADA | 11/05 | 7:00 PM EST9:51 AM
Utah State's defense hasn't gotten off to a good start this season, surrendering 40 points per game. Led by QB Carson Strong, Nevada has been tremendous out of the gate. Granted, its defense isn't the best, but the offense serves as its best defense by forcing the opposing team to keep up the pace as far as scoring is concerned. Utah State isn't built to do that just yet.

If you know anything about me it's that I am a man of principle, and I cannot sit idly by while teams are getting this many points in a conference game. It's too many points! In the College Football Playoff Era, we have seen 32 games in which one team was favored by 35 points or more in a conference game. The dog has gone 19-13 in those games, and Rutgers in particular has gone 3-1 ATS in those spots. Plus, it doesn't hurt that Greg Schiano and Ryan Day spent two years coaching together at Ohio State. The Buckeyes won't look to run up the score.
UNDER 41
AF @ ARMY | 11/07 | 11:30 AM ESTTUE 11/3
The totals for these games keep getting lower, but the trend hasn't changed. Since 2005, the Under has gone 36-9-1 in games between service academies. The average total between these two in the last six meetings has been 29.5 points. Get it before the total gets lower.

FLA VS UGA | 11/07 | 3:30 PM EST
Both teams are compromised by injuries, suspensions and potential Covid protocols. However, the healthiest unit is the best one in this game -- the Florida offense. Georgia's vaunted defense allowed 41 points to Alabama and Florida is capable of doing the same, provided it doesn't self-destruct. But with Georgia's defensive quarterback, safety Richard LeCounte, sidelined by an off-field injury, the value lies with Florida QB Kyle Trask and his myriad weapons.

I know you get scared when you see the huge spread, but don't run from this game. Marshall hasn't played since Oct. 24 because of a postponement due to COVID-19. The Thundering Herd are as good as BYU, but the masses have forgotten about them because they've had 3 games scrapped. UMass is not very good and is running into a Marshall team that will want to remind the pollsters HOW great it is defensively and how efficient it is offensively. I'm expecting a 63-7 type of result that favors the Thundering Herd.
CSTCAR -18
SALA @ CSTCAR | 11/07 | 8:00 PM ESTYESTERDAY 11:18 AM
The Chanticleers are an extremely talented team on both sides of the ball. While the focus has been on their offense and the amount of points they've been able to score, the defense has been the real MVP of this squad. It is a big reason why the offense has had so many scoring opportunities. Look for Coastal Carolina's defense to keep South Alabama's chunk play-dependent offense at bay.

The Vols are coming off a bye week after a three-game losing streak in year three of Jeremy Pruitt. To see them as a short favorite against an Arkansas team that’s been awful the last few years is quite the wake-up call as to where this program is. I think they’re closer to where they want to be than people are acknowledging. Losses to Georgia and Alabama are excusable. The loss to Kentucky was bad because of two pick-sixes and another interception on three straight possessions. As long as Jarrett Guarantano doesn’t have that kind of disastrous day, Tennessee has better personnel and should win and cover.
LIB +15
LIB @ VATECH | 11/07 | 12:00 PM EST11:18 AM
This is another interview game for Hugh Freeze. He’s trying to climb back out of the Group of Five cellar into a big-time job and he’s going to do it by competitive showings against teams like this. Liberty won’t pull the upset here but it’s too good of an offense not to get some points. If this isn’t four quarters of competitive football, it will be a fourth quarter of Freeze trying to make it respectable.
UNDER 50.5
CLEM @ ND | 11/07 | 7:30 PM EST11:17 AM
Brian Kelly has been bragging all week about how Notre Dame is going to run the football. He’s going to try to grind this game away just like they’ve tried to do each of the last three weeks. Clemson may not be healthy enough to resist that kind of pace. When you consider Notre Dame’s defense is going to make things difficult on true freshman D.J. Uiagalelei as a passer, I’d expect Clemson to limit its pace too. If Notre Dame can’t win, it will be able to keep the score low.
USC -10.5
ARIZST @ USC | 11/07 | 12:00 PM EST11:13 AM
If this game was being played in a month, maybe I’d look at it differently but Arizona State is trying to beat USC with a bunch of freshmen at the skill positions. While Jayden Daniels is one of the best QBs in the country, Kedon Slovis is probably even better with weapons at wide receiver that you can put up against any team in college football. Arizona State won’t be able to keep up.
MICH -3
MICH @ IND | 11/07 | 12:00 PM EST11:11 AM
Indiana has had a nice start to the season but somehow it’s 2-0 with a big upset and without an impressive showing. Michigan has some soul-searching to do after a loss to Michigan State. I don’t think Indiana will have the same success throwing downfield as Michigan State had and Michigan’s offense is close. 3 points isn’t enough for a Michigan team that needs this win badly.
VANDY +19.5
VANDY @ MISSST | 11/07 | 3:30 PM EST
As bad as Vandy has looked this year, I don’t get the sense that those players have quit on Derek Mason. With a true freshman quarterback and some guys getting back from COVID issues, Vanderbilt has something to play for. That doesn’t mean they win but it does mean that they can keep it competitive with a smart gameplan from Mason against a Mississippi State team that has been awful on offense with a bunch of guys transferring out of the program and opting out of the season.

Nice digging today Shaz, lots of new handicappers...I love it. Got to be an Indian Cowboy or Texas Sportswire in there SOMEwhere! Think I'll head to KFC now and pray Michigan figures it out in the 2nd half. Appreciate you as always.
