SOUTH CAROLINA @ EAST CAROLINA | 09/11 | 12:00 PM EDT
SOUTH CAROLINA +2
ANALYSIS: This line has been all over the place already and I have to say that I'm surprised the Gamecocks are underdogs. East Carolina isn't too bad but didn't look great in a Week 1 loss at Appalachian State. USC trounced Eastern Illinois without three key players: QB Luke Doty, running back Kevin Harris and safety R.J. Roderick. All three are expected for this one. It's the first matchup between the two programs since 2016.
WASHINGTON @ MICHIGAN | 09/11 | 8:00 PM EDT
MICHIGAN -6
ANALYSIS: I'm going to bet this game now in case it rises to Wolverines -7. We don't want to overreact too much to Week 1, but Washington was completely inept offensively in a shocking home loss to FCS school Montana and apparently will not change QBs. The Huskies played without their top three receivers and from what I'm reading, it's more likely than not they miss this game, too. A fourth WR suffered a major injury early vs. Montana and is out. UW's best defender, Zion Tupuola-Fetui, remains out. Michigan did lose top wideout Ronnie Bell for the season in its Week 1 win over Western Michigan, but the Wolverines still should have enough at home to prevail here by at least a TD (expect a defensive battle). The Huskies are 1-8 ATS in their past nine as dogs.

#349 Iowa Hawkeyes +4.5
Absolutely LOVE the Hawkeyes here since Iowa has won 5 games in a row against the Cyclones and Iowa is 4-2 ATS in their last 6 road underdog roles. Iowa looked very impressive last week against Indiana while Iowa State was struggling against Northern Iowa. Iowa State is just 6-8 ATS as a home favorite and with a rivalry this big the points always look attractive especially with a team that has dominated this series recently. Take the Hawkeyes and the points here. Thank you and good luck.

Wyoming is coming off an opening week match-up, in which they were a 19 point favorite vs. Montana St, and they barely squeaked out a W, putting up only 19 points themselves! They are 1-4 ATS in the L5 week 2 games and this may not be the best scenario to try and turn the tide. Northern Illinois is coming off the upset W vs. Georgia Tech last week and with the veteran transfer QB from Michigan State may be exactly what this team needs to keep its head on straight coming off a big upset W. As a 19 point underdog the transfer went down the field at the end of the game, when it mattered, and sealed the W on the final 38 yard drive. The Freshman RB, Waylee, was the offensive star and took some of the eyes off of the QB, putting up 144 yards and a TD was a nice addition to an 11-17 passing day for that QB.

2 unit Rutgers (-130) over Syracuse –
This Rutger's team forced (& capitalized) 5 Temple turnovers, and absolutely shut down the Temple offense when it really mattered, holding them to 3-15 on 3rd & 4th down conversion opportunities. This offense has also been revitalized with an uptempo approach, with 6 TD drives totaling at 2 minutes and 30 seconds or less! While Syracuse took one step in the right direction last week, this is still the first time in the L9 weeks that they are coming off a W, and I am weary to see if 6.4 yards/carry can continue to another opponent, seeing as the rush game has been a point of struggle in recent years.

3 unit Iowa Hawkeyes (+4.5) over Iowa State –
Iowa has been at the wheel for the recent years of this H2H match-up with the Cyclones. In the L7 games, the Cyclones have only scored over 17 points once, and that might be a necessity to beat this Hawkeyes team, yet Iowa State couldn't put up more then 17 points vs. a Northern Iowa team last week. Iowa, on the other hand, made a real first impression on this season in last weeks game vs. Indiana, the Hawkeye's defense came out HOT, forcing 3 first half interceptions (2 RT'D for TD), allowing only 233 total yards, and holding the Hoosier's to 2.5 yards per carry!

Iowa State -4.5 over Iowa
Kirk Ferentz is a heck of a coach as he destroyed Indiana last week. Maybe the Hoosiers were overrated, but this team looked great. That game was at home and I do think they come back down to life against the Cyclones today. Iowa State has a veteran QB in Brock Purdy, can run the ball with Breece Hall, they have a great offensive line and talent to skill players who can catch the ball. This Iowa State Defense is stacked with talent and should get to the QB today going against this Iowa Offensive Line that is young. Vegas set a good line here and I do believe the public will jump on Iowa because of what they saw last week. Every game is different. The Cyclones hold a huge talent edge here. Take Iowa State.

PITTSBURGH @ TENNESSEE | 09/11 | 12:00 PM EDT
UNDER 56.5
ANALYSIS: Both of these teams had big offensive performances in their opener, but those performances came against bottom-rung FBS teams and not much different than facing FCS schools. Against stiffer competition, I expect these offenses to take steps back in this game. Tennessee cruised to a 38-6 win over Bowling Green in Week 1. The Vols stuck to running the ball with 64 carries for 331 yards in that game. Over the past 15 seasons, teams that won the last game while rushing the ball at least 60 times have produced Unders 59 percent of the time.
RUTGERS @ SYRACUSE | 09/11 | 2:00 PM EDT
UNDER 52.5
ANALYSIS: After looking like a team without an identity in 2020, Syracuse established an identity It can get behind in Week 1: pound the ball with the run over and over again. That will keep the ball away from a Rutgers team that is not as dynamic offensively as its Week 1 performance suggests. Rutgers defeated Temple, 61-14, in its season opener. The Under is 10-0 since 2011 when the Scarlet Knights are not more than three-point favorites on the road and are coming off a regulation game where they scored at least 28 points.
MIAMI (OHIO) @ MINNESOTA | 09/11 | 12:00 PM EDT
MINNESOTA -17.5
ANALYSIS: Minnesota was dealt a tough task of facing one of the top teams in the country in Ohio State in its opener and lost competitively. The Gophers should be hungry here and arguably are better than Cincinnati, a team Miami (Ohio) lost to by 35 in its opening game. The Redhawks have struggled when they are getting considerable points on the road. Miami is 0-10 ATS since October 2016 as a road dog of more than seven points.

OREGON @ OHIO ST. | 09/11 | 12:00 PM EDT
OVER 63.5
ANALYSIS: Key defensive players being questionable for both teams plus conservative Week 1 offensive approaches that were built with this game in mind have this total several points too low. I also like it at 64.
WED 9/8
VANDERBILT @ COLORADO ST. | 09/11 | 10:00 PM EDT
VANDERBILT +7
ANALYSIS: This is all about market overcorrection based on an ugly opening weekend for Vandy. The Commodores are making internal staff changes, which I expect to be a net-positive against Colorado State. My numbers indicate this should be closer to pick 'em so I'll gladly take points.
WED 9/8
TEXAS ST. @ FIU | 09/11 | 7:00 PM EDT
TEXAS ST. +1.5
ANALYSIS: Two pieces of advice here: 1) Take Texas State and the points and 2) Try to avoid watching this game. I don't expect this to go smoothly. It certainly won't be pretty. But I trust the numbers, and the numbers scream Bobcats Saturday.
WED 9/8
TULSA @ OKLA. ST. | 09/11 | 12:00 PM EDT
OKLA. ST. -13
ANALYSIS: I love Mike Gundy coming off a narrow home win because it usually means he'll get the attention of the locker room. I like this number all the way up to 14 and think the Cowboys find a way to get some margin Saturday.
