SOUTH FLORIDA @ NOTRE DAME | 9/19 | 2:30 PM EDT
Notre Dame will not find the game film from South Florida’s opener helpful. In a glorified scrimmage against The Citadel, the Bulls deployed three QBs. Eleven players had carries and 11 caught passes. Meanwhile, The Citadel's QB completed just four of his 18 pass attempts. Because of quarantining, the Bulls were compelled to start three new offensive linemen. They gained experience, if limited, should they be called upon in South Bend. The Irish did not exactly dazzle in their win over Duke, so an underdog cover is plausible.

Miami showed us a new identity in its season-opening victory. With a new OC and a new QB in D'Eriq King, this is a team that knows what it does well, and isn't afraid to do it over and over. As a result, the Canes rushed for 337 yards against UAB. Now they'll be facing a Louisville defense that allowed 5.4 yards per carry last season, ranking 120th nationally. Take the dog.

The Eagles haven’t teed it up this season and the Blue Devils played Notre Dame tough last week. The Eagles return four offensive linemen and are comfortable enough at quarterback with Dennis Grosel or Phil Jurkovec to allow longtime starting quarterback Anthony Brown to walk out the door. The Blue Devils gave up 6.04 yards per play last week, so expect a new-look offense to at least keep this one close.

The Hurricanes offense didn’t click as much as I expected against UAB, which is concerning heading into what will likely be a shootout against the Cardinals. Maybe the Hurricanes held quarterback D’Eriq King back a little bit, but not enough to go point-for-point with Micale Cunningham and Co. The junior signal-caller for Louisville had 343 passing yards, 24 rushing yards and four total touchdowns last week. When you pair him put with running back Javian Hawkins and a talented trio of wide receivers including Tutu Atwell, Dez Fitzpatrick and Braden Smith, there won’t be any chance the ‘Canes defense will keep them in check.

It's tough to go against an Oklahoma State team that has dominated this rivalry and should have one of the nation's top offenses behind returning 2,094-yard rusher Chuba Hubbard and a host of additional weapons that includes Washington State transfer Tay Martin at receiver. But Tulsa has enough weapons of its own to provide value with three-plus touchdowns. Baylor transfer Zach Smith returns at QB, and the Golden Hurricane have one of the deepest backfields in the country led by Shamari Brooks. Lok to grab 24 or better as the public weighs in on the Cowboys before kickoff.

This isn’t the opener that first-year coach Dave Aranda wanted, but it should still be a great battle between two former SWC rivals. Don’t sleep on Baylor. Quarterback Charlie Brewer is a dual-threat stud and John Lovett is one of the better running backs in the Big 12. I’m not a big believer of Houston quarterback Clayton Tune being a playmaker … even against an inexperienced Bears defense. After all, that defense is led by Aranda.

One of the trends I've been tracking in 2020 is how teams perform in their season-openers. The trend that has really stuck out is what happens when two teams are playing their season-openers against one another. There have been 20 such games so far this season and the Under is 14-6. None of the six games that went over had a total higher than 55. The 20 games have featured an average of 50.4 points per game. Take the Under.

After watching Notre Dame beat Duke last week I came away from the performance with the same concerns I had about the Irish coming into the season. There just isn't an explosive presence in the passing game, and without that explosiveness, it's hard to trust this Irish offense as such a large favorite. USF didn't look great last week, either, but they used their contest against The Citadel as a glorified spring scrimmage.

Southern Miss lost its opener to South Alabama and it looked so bad and entirely unprepared that it made a coaching change afterward. Now that same team is coming back two weeks later with a new coach against a team that won 10 games last season and is favored. There are concerns about Tech here, but not enough to convince me to pass up on it here.

The game nobody knew they wanted. I know it was against Clemson, and we shouldn't hold any performance against Clemson against any team, but Wake's offense didn't fill me with much confidence about it going forward. Then there's NC State, which managed an ACC-worst 16.1 points per game in conference play last season, playing its first game. Then there are some trends that are hard to ignore, like the fact the Under is 20-9 in NC State's last 29 ACC games. Or that it's 10-4 in Wake's last 14 ACC games.

Duke lost to Notre Dame 27-13 last week, which presents reasons to be optimistic about the Blue Devils this week, as well as reason for pessimism. The good news is they have a game under their belt, while Boston College doesn't. The bad news is that nothing Duke did last week left an indelible mark on me, and none of it gives me confidence to trust it as a favorite here this week.

Duke played AT South Bend then home for this game...then AT Charlottesville to get Bronco's Coastal winning Cavaliers....but the key here to make this sandwich spot amazing is the Dukies were supposed to be off next weekend after their home opener but yet another Covid disaster has made the schedules a debacle and what was a November matchup is now a look ahead spot to what must be a tougher game...right haha ?

The teams have weathered turmoil of a different sort. Southern Miss had its coach resign after one game. Louisiana Tech has yet to play after an outbreak of COVID-19 cases on the roster forced the cancellation of its opener. The difference is that the Golden Eagles have had two weeks for interim coach Scotty Walden, 30, to figure things out. The Bulldogs’ issues surfaced just last week, and they were complicated by Hurricane Laura hitting the area. Louisiana Tech would be the projected winner in November, but not on Saturday.

The Ragin’ Cajuns’ 31-14 shocker over No. 23 Iowa State was not as packed with offense as the score suggests. Two Louisiana TDs came on long special teams returns. The Cajuns’ defense threw a shutout in the second half. Georgia State’s offense in its opener will be unduly impacted with canceled games the past two weeks. QB Quad Brown is a redshirt freshman without a start, and he confronts the No. 1 scoring defense in the Sun Belt a year ago.

Despite winning the first two games of the series, the Heat once again find themselves as underdogs considering this spread. That’s exactly the way Jimmy Butler and company like it. Even if Gordon Hayward (ankle) is able to return for the Celtics, expect him to be on a minutes restriction since he hasn’t played in over a month. The Heat have a huge advantage up front with Bam Adebayo and that won’t change even if Hayward does return, so I’ll take the points.

Meanwhile Halos starter Andrew Heaney is 0-2 with and 8.31 ERA and 1.62 WHIP in two starts against Texas this year. Even though the Eagles lost their starting quarterback and stud running back AJ Dillon from last year's team, a decorated offensive line and running back David Bailey (5.7 yards per carry) return, which should help with the transition in 2020. Duke looked mediocre in its loss to Notre Dame last week and doesn't look like the kind of team that can blow anyone out. My model has BC covering 60 percent of the time, so you're getting strong value at this number.

The Demon Deacons gave a respectable performance in a home loss last week against Clemson, and there's little doubt playing the top-ranked team in the country in their season opener prepared them for the rest of the ACC slate. The Wolfpack are looking to bounce back from a four-win season marked by injuries and a youth-laden roster, but Covid issues have limited their preparation. Devin Leary showed some promise in five games as a freshman starter last season at QB. But Wake's Sam Hartman is in his third year and made some plays against Clemson. Look for the more experienced Deacons to prevail.

Last week against North Carolina, Syracuse played really inspired football in the first half. But the Tar Heels' depth and talent was just too much to overcome. Pitt blew out Austin Peay last weekend, but the real story was how the Panthers looked in doing so. They looked in midseason form on both sides of the ball. That level of continuity, along with the fact that Syracuse doesn't have the depth this season, just makes this pick an easy one for me.

Cunningham threw three touchdown passes against Western Kentucky. Miami's D'Eriq King, the Houston grad transfer, looked very good in his first game as a Hurricane. King has a streak of 16 straight games with a passing and rushing touchdown. Offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee was brought in to run a no huddle up-tempo offense.

Oklahoma State beat Tulsa by 19 points last season, and this Cowboys team is better. The Tulsa defense was 93rd in the nation and allowed over 31 points per game. Miami QB D'Eriq King was decent in his first game and will get better, but I just don't believe he has enough weaponry when compared to the Cardinals. Syracuse is in for a long season, and after watching the Orange's first game, I have no worries laying this many points vs. a good Pittsburgh squad. This Panthers team has really good offensive and defensive lines. They should be able to push the Orange around and harass Tommy DeVito, who was sacked seven times last week. Pittsburgh will force several turnovers. Syracuse is going to have a hard time scoring points just like last week, this time against a much tougher defense. UCF @ GEORGIA TECH | 9/19 | 3:30 PM EDT
YESTERDAY 1:09 PM
UCF comes in having won 35 of its last 39 games overall while returning a ton of talent. Dillon Gabriel set a freshman record for passing yards with 3,653 and threw for 29 TDs with seven interceptions. He is poised for another huge season. The Knights are 0-3 all-time vs. the Yellow Jackets, but will end that streak here. Georgia Tech is feeling good after beating a bad FSU team. The Yellow Jackets have issues in their kicking game and will have a hard time slowing the Knights’ offense. UCF is solid on defense and should be able to force Jeff Sims into some critical turnovers. He tossed two interceptions last week in his first career start.

2-1 IN LAST 3 CFB PICKS | +90

Always a pleasure to see your work on display. I love all the content you provide. With that being said, I haven't seen the FREE SERVICE PLAYS listed for a couple days. Is it possible to display those too? Thanks again so much brother.

Rotation #125/126
Louisiana Tech/Southern Miss Over 58.5

Southern Miss has already fired their coach and now will be led by their 30 year old co-offensive coordinator Scotty Walden. In most cases I would say this is bad, but this team had a lot of energy this week and get the perfect opponent on defense. The Bulldogs of Louisiana Tech have a new defensive coordinator and only return really 1 starter on that side of the ball that started every game this year. Southern Miss is going to go up tempo and put points on the board. Southern Miss also has turnover on defense. This defensive line is pretty young. Louisiana Tech has a ton of offensive weapons. The question is will their QB’s be able to find these weapons? The secondary for Southern Miss is very young so I do imagine these experienced receiving targets will get open. Both teams should put up a lot of points. Take the Over.

View Analysis

Davontavean Martin now added immediately to a roster of offensive weapons including Spencer Sanders, Chuba Hubbard, and Tylan Wallace and Tulsa has to travel to Stillwater to face the juggernaut Cowboys who averaged 6.4 yards per play and didn't have Martin and injuries to Sanders. Watkins, the transfer from Mizzou for Tulsa can play immediately as well, so maybe this is why we are getting a less than 2 TDs price here...but I won't ask too many questions and get after this 1H hammer!

OVER 207.5
BOSTON @ MIAMI | 9/19 | 8:30 PM EDT
11:40 AM
The Heat are averaging a robust 112.0 points in the postseason while the Celtics are averaging 107.6. Boston is having a hard time slowing down this Heat offense that can go on some serious runs. The Celtics are dangerous offensively as well and also like to shoot the three. The total looks a few points low. Take the Over.

MIAMI +3
BOSTON @ MIAMI | 9/19 | 8:30 PM EDT
11:29 AM
It is hard to beat a team three straight times in any playoff series, but that is exactly what the Heat are attempting to do. They are now 10-1 SU and ATS this postseason and playing their best basketball of the season. They continue to get key contributions from their bench, have several players who can beat you and have the ability to catch up in a hurry with their 3-point shooting. The Celtics are frustrated, and I think that will show up tonight with this being a must-win game; all the pressure is on Boston.

TAMPA BAY -160
DALLAS @ TAMPA BAY | 9/19 | 7:30 PM EDT
11:23 AM
This is going to be a fantastic Stanley Cup, and one that could go the full seven games. But I think the Lightning wrap it up in six starting with a big win tonight. Tampa Bay is surely going to be tested by a Stars team that demolished the Knights despite being outshot in almost every game. The Lightning are fast and going to create a ton of scoring chances. The Stars won both meetings in overtime, but the teams haven't met since Jan. 27. Prior to that, the Lightning had won five straight. I don't love the price tag on Lightning but they win.

25-15 IN LAST 40 NHL ML PICKS | +491
12-3 IN LAST 15 TB ML PICKS | +754

N.Y. YANKEES -1.5
N.Y. YANKEES @ BOSTON | 9/19 | 7:30 PM EDT
11:13 AM
The Yankees have completely dominated Boston, winning 11 straight meetings. They've also won nine straight overall, outscoring opponents 77-25 during the streak. The Red Sox are just 1-16 in their last 17 against New York and, to make matters worse, Yankees starter J.A. Happ is 12-4 in his career against Boston. Yankees run line is the play.
