Analysis:
Short and sweet: Houston had last weeks 4th highest pass rate over expectation, and Denver has preached playing fast all off season with Wilson now at QB. Denver is missing stud safety Justin Simmons from a defense that struggled mightily against Geno Smith

NFL | SEATTLE @ SAN FRANCISCO | 09/18 | 4:05 PM EDT
SAN FRANCISCO -8.5
ANALYSIS: The 49ers enter this one off an upset loss in Week 1 to one of the league's worst teams, while the Seahawks pulled off an upset win against their longtime starting QB. It seems that result is causing this line to move toward the Seahawks, and at 8.5, I'm jumping on the other side. Maybe Trey Lance will end up being terrible, but I don't think we can take anything away from the extreme weather conditions he endured in Week 1. I trust Kyle Shanahan is a good enough coach to maximize Lance's talent. Seattle was fortunate to beat Denver and now is without Jamal Adams on defense. Love throwing 49ers in a teaser on this number, but willing to play it straight as well.
NFL | WASHINGTON @ DETROIT | 09/18 | 1:00 PM EDT
WASHINGTON +2.5
ANALYSIS: Basic strategy suggests that in Week 2 you want to find 1-0 vs. 0-1 matchups and back the Week 1 loser, but that's built around Overreaction Week chatter putting too much stock into what they saw in one game. And in this matchup, the Lions are being treated like the 1-0 team after rallying back from a 17-point deficit in the fourth quarter to cover the number. They did something similar in Week 1 last year and failed to cover the following week. I still believe in the Lions, but I had both these teams even in Week 1 and again this week, and I don't think Detroit's home-field is worth 2.5 points. This line has moved too much at this point, and there's value on the Commanders.
NFL | WASHINGTON @ DETROIT | 09/18 | 1:00 PM EDT
OVER 49
ANALYSIS: Carson Wentz looked excellent for much of his Commanders debut. Yes, he got to take advantage of an awful Jaguars defense, but guess what? He gets another awful defense this week in the Lions, who look like they'll be one of the best Over plays on a week-to-week basis with their improving offense and still awful back-seven on defense. We're getting this at 49 here because I don't think this line is going to move down at any point, but you might still have 48.5s available in the market, and I'd encourage grabbing them before they disappear.
NFL | ARIZONA @ LAS VEGAS | 09/18 | 4:25 PM EDT
ARIZONA +6
ANALYSIS: I backed the Cardinals in Week 1 against the Chiefs, and boy was I wrong to do that. I flipped them from a +1 team to a -1 team in my power ratings, the biggest move for non-injury reasons. I also moved the Raiders up a half-point despite their loss. Throw in home-field advantage, and that only gets this game to Raiders -4. The lookahead was -3, so this looks like siren emojis for Overreaction Week after the Cardinals were dismantled by one of the top two teams in the NFL. They should be able to move the ball better against a suspect Raiders defense, and maybe their defense will come in with a better gameplan. If you see a +6, take the value.
NFL | TAMPA BAY @ NEW ORLEANS | 09/18 | 1:00 PM EDT
NEW ORLEANS +3
ANALYSIS: The Buccaneers have committed a total of just 36 turnovers the last two years combined, an average of just over one per game. In four games against the Saints, they've turned the ball over 11 times. This defense was a major problem for Tom Brady and Co. at their best, but that was before the interior of their O-line was turned over. Chris Godwin also seems like a longshot to contribute in this game after suffering an injury in Week 1. The Saints offense looked putrid for much of their opener but Jameis Winston finally found his way in the fourth quarter. Without context, maybe this line makes sense, but with recent history between these teams being what it is, I love the Saints.
NFL | N.Y. JETS @ CLEVELAND | 09/18 | 1:00 PM EDT
N.Y. JETS +6.5
ANALYSIS: I backed the Browns +2.5 against the Panthers last week in a game that was never outside the number if you got it at the right time. But the Cleveland offense didn't impress despite their final point total, and the defense outright collapsed in the second half. I've said the Browns can beat bad teams with a run-and-D approach, and the Jets sure look like a bad team. But their defense did an excellent job against the Ravens, particularly defending the run, and I can see them keeping the Browns' point total down in this game. Jacoby Brissett is one of the worst starting QBs in the league, so I love catching nearly a TD by fading him.
NFL | CHICAGO @ GREEN BAY | 09/18 | 8:20 PM EDT
GREEN BAY -10
ANALYSIS: The Packers offense looked like a shell of its former self in Week 1, but how much of that can we attribute to the loss of Davante Adams? Remember, the Packers lost last year's opener 38-3 and went on to earn the No. 1 seed in the NFC. They followed that stinker up with a home game against an NFC North punching bag (Lions) and get the same this week with the Bears coming to town. Chicago is coming off a surprise win thanks in part to the extreme weather, and I don't see the Bears offense being able to keep up with something-to-prove Aaron Rodgers. Hopefully the Packers offense is healthier for this game after missing Allen Lazard and both starting tackles in Week 1, but either way, this should be a blowout. Wait to see if you can get -9.5.

NFL | NEW ENGLAND @ PITTSBURGH | 09/18 | 1:00 PM EDT
NEW ENGLAND -2
ANALYSIS: It's no surprise New England is favored and taking money. Mac Jones (back) is practicing fully, while the Steelers won't have their best player in TJ Watt (pectoral). Running back Najee Harris apparently will play through his foot injury. The Steelers mustered 13 first downs in their miracle upset of the Bengals (plus-5 in turnovers helped). New England played the Dolphins fairly evenly except for being minus-3 in turnovers. Look for Kendrick Bourne to be more involved and spark the Pats' offense, and for Bill Belichick to improve to 9-3 all-time versus Mike Tomlin.
NFL | CAROLINA @ N.Y. GIANTS | 09/18 | 1:00 PM EDT
CAROLINA +2
ANALYSIS: I love Brian Daboll and think he'll get dramatic improvement out of the Giants this season. But Sunday sets up well for the Panthers. Their injury report looks fairly clean, while the Giants lost starting corner Aaron Robinson (appendix surgery) and will be shorthanded at receiver. New York will elevate corner Fabian Moreau from the practice squad, which doesn't bode well against D.J. Moore, Robby Anderson and Baker Mayfield. Christian McCaffrey should gash the G-Men catching passes out of the backfield, as New York's linebackers were unable to stop the Titans' Dontrell Hilliard last week. Grab the points.
NFL | HOUSTON @ DENVER | 09/18 | 4:25 PM EDT
DENVER -10
ANALYSIS: The upstart Texans played a full extra quarter in Week 1 and now have to travel to altitude to face an angry Broncos team. Denver averaged an insane 6.8 yards per play in its 17-16 loss at Seattle. The Broncos were done in by goal-line gaffes and 12 penalties for 106 yards. Look for a cleaner performance at home, as that was the first game for many Broncos starters after sitting out the preseason. Denver's elite defense started to click in the second half Monday night. The Broncos will force Davis Mills into mistakes and thrive versus a Texans offense that averaged just 4.4 yards per play at home vs. Indy. Lay the big number.

NFL | N.Y. JETS @ CLEVELAND | 09/18 | 1:00 PM EDT
CLEVELAND -6.5
ANALYSIS: SL's Stephen Oh tweeted he thinks the Browns are good value at -6.5 but not 7 and I tend to agree so let's take it now -- again, I won't be doing many games this early unless I think they are going to cross a number I don't like. And I wouldn't like this at -7. Simply don't think the Jets are very good. Not exactly breaking news there.
NFL | MIAMI @ BALTIMORE | 09/18 | 1:00 PM EDT
UNDER 44.5
ANALYSIS: I may come back and play this on the spread/ML, but I do like the Under now that it has moved up from 43.5 -- obviously, 44 is a key number (24-20, 27-17). Both defenses were excellent in Week 1, and the Fins could be without both starting offensive tackles (if that's true, I will take Baltimore ML) so the Ravens could really do a number on that Miami O. The teams combined for just 32 points last year in South Florida.

NFL | INDIANAPOLIS @ JACKSONVILLE | 09/18 | 1:00 PM EDT
JACKSONVILLE +4
ANALYSIS: The majority of the Colts roster hasn't played a game outdoors since losing to the Jaguars in Week 18 last year. The public loves the Colts in this revenge spot. Not so fast. The Colts' offense was on the field for 90 plays in their 20-20 tie last week. In the last 30 games, teams off a tie are just 13-17 ATS in their next game. There's value on the home underdog.

NFL | MIAMI @ BALTIMORE | 09/18 | 1:00 PM EDT
BALTIMORE -3.5
ANALYSIS: In a sloppy game due to weather at the Meadowlands, the Ravens were still dominant defensively in their performance against the Jets. Miami was able to take advantage of an ineffective, and immobile QB in Mac Jones last weekend, but still left some meat on the bones offensively. In this matchup vs the Ravens defense, I don't see the same busts in coverage happening that we saw vs New England, and with conditions expected to be ideal, expect a much more explosive Ravens offense as a result.
NFL | ATLANTA @ L.A. RAMS | 09/18 | 4:05 PM EDT
ATLANTA +10.5
ANALYSIS: I know the 4th quarter collapse is fresh in everyone's mind, but for the majority of the game the Falcons really owned the Saints in the trenches. What gives them a puncher's chance in this game against the Rams is the fact that the Rams weakness, as of right now, is up front along the offensive line. Also, where the Rams struggled last week - defending the mobile QB - will be a similar issue this week vs Marcus Mariota. This line is very disrespectful to how talented this Falcons team actually is.
NFL | TAMPA BAY @ NEW ORLEANS | 09/18 | 1:00 PM EDT
NEW ORLEANS +3
ANALYSIS: Outside of the fact that the New Orleans Saints haven't lost a regular season game to the Bucs with Tom Brady as the QB, this is usually a bad matchup for the Bucs because of how the Saints go about their business. Both teams have some questions entering this game, but for the Bucs it's more or less whether or not they can get an encore performance from Julio Jones, as they will be shorthanded without Chris Godwin this game. So the Saints will have to worry about two WRs instead of three, and one of those wideouts will be covered by Marshon Lattimore. Look for the Saints offense to start the game in the same manner they finished vs Atlanta. That was not an aberration.
NFL | WASHINGTON @ DETROIT | 09/18 | 1:00 PM EDT
DETROIT -2
ANALYSIS: I thought both teams really competed well in Week 1. Both teams fought their way back into the game, with the Commanders being able to come all the way back to win it vs Jacksonville. The biggest matchup here is between the Lions defensive line vs the Commanders offensive front, and can Washington protect QB Carson Wentz throughout the game. On the other side, can Washington slow down the ground game of Detroit? Those two questions are where I have a hard time believing that Washington will have the answers.

WASHINGTON +1.5
ANALYSIS: The Lions covered the spread 11 times last season but weren’t favored in any game. They got the back-door cover in their Week 1 loss to Philadelphia with 14 unanswered fourth-quarter points. Detroit's ground game was good, but QB Jared Goff looked lazy. But now the Lions are favored. Commanders QB Carson Wentz made four TD passes in a win and cover against Jacksonville last week, with rookie WR Jahan Dotson hauling in two of them. Washington's receiving corps again will win the game. Take the Commanders to cover.

Jaguars +3 over Colts
The Colts have one of the worst offenses in the league. Michael Pittman didn’t practice all week and is questionable for today. Indianapolis doesn’t have many receivers who can catch the ball. The Jaguars have a ton of talent, and it’s a matter of time before Trevor Lawrence steps up to be the QB he was in college. Look for Jacksonville to take advantage of a Colts defense with many key players injured on the defense side. Take the Jaguars.
