301 GBP -2.5(-110) Westgate vs 302 SFX double-dime bet
Analysis: I anticipate this line moving and wanted to get it out now.
I fully expect Mullens to start this game, and if that's the case, I make this game GB -4
Green Bay is 4-0 ATS off a loss under Lafleur, with a +10.1 ATS margin, and has double revenge off of last years embarrassing two losses, so there's no way the far superior team (Green Bay) will be taking San Fran lightly (which is often the concern for road favorites)

The Wolf Pack are off to a 2-0 start, including a big win over a solid Wyoming team. Utah State was hammered by Boise State and San Diego State. The Aggies have won three of the last four meetings. This Nevada team is always dangerous at home. The Wolf Pack should be able to shred a Utah State defense that’s allowing 40 points per game and hasn't created a single turnover. Carson Strong has completed over 71 percent of his passes with six TDs and no INTs. This game has mismatch written all over it. The Aggies are 7-19 ATS in their last 26 as an underdog. The home team is 8-2 ATS in the last 19 overall meetings.

Utah State's defense hasn't gotten off to a good start this season, surrendering 40 points per game. Led by QB Carson Strong, Nevada has been tremendous out of the gate. Granted, its defense isn't the best, but the offense serves as its best defense by forcing the opposing team to keep up the pace as far as scoring is concerned. Utah State isn't built to do that just yet.

One of the biggest wins last week was Wyoming’s 31-7 victory over Hawaii. The Cowboys rushed 59 times for 281 yards and four touchdowns. On Thursday, they’ll face a Colorado State team that vastly underachieved in its opening loss to Fresno State. Expect the Rams to limit the run and force Cowboys backup quarterback Levi Williams to win the game. Back the home underdog in the Rams.

We bet recommended against Colorado State last week vs. Fresno State, and the Bulldogs rolled. CSU coach Steve Addazio has yet to say who his starting QB will be for this game (either Todd Centeio, the better runner, or Patrick O'Brien, the better passer), which isn't usually a good sign. On the flip side, Wyoming is very well-coached by Craig Bohl and trampled a solid Hawaii team last week. The Cowboys are 5-1 ATS in their past six as road favorites and have covered four straight in this Border War game.

JaMycal Hasty was shaky last week versus the Seahawks, but he was solid in the two games before that and should have success against Green Bay's leaky run defense. This line has swelled to the point where there's value on the home dog. Take San Francisco to keep it respectable.

The injury report and COVID list are very long in this game, for both teams. The situation looks even worse for San Francisco, which will enter without its starting QB, LT, TE and both WRs. That's a lot of missing offense to overcome. While Green Bay is dealing with a very thin backfield, it still has QB Aaron Rodgers and a defense solid enough to cover this spread easily.

Both these teams are coming off divisional losses, but even though the 49ers are the ones dealing with key injuries, I'm more concerned about the Packers, who couldn't stop a run game for the second time in three weeks even though they had to know it was coming against the Vikings. That's not going to cut it against Kyle Shanahan, who should be able to expose the Packers on the ground consistently. And based on what we saw on Sunday, we'd be better having Nick Mullens in the game anyway. The 49ers defense did a great job on Seattle for about a half of football, and I think this Packers offense is a step back. Plus, the 49ers need this win more.

Jump(!!!) on this spread at William Hill before the site changes it -- and it will rise with Jimmy Garoppolo and George Kittle joining the 49ers' M*A*S*H unit. Seriously, it might be easier to simply list who will be playing instead of who won't for that decimated club. The Packers looked awful at home Sunday, but Aaron Rodgers doesn't play back-to-back terrible games (GB is 11-0 ATS in its past 11 following an ATS loss), and it's always personal to him playing at the Niners after his "hometown" team passed on him at the top of the 2005 draft in favor of Alex Smith. A-Rod and the Pack will get payback for two lopsided losses at Levi's Stadium last season.

The injury toll finally might have reached a tipping point for the 49ers. QB Jimmy Garoppolo and TE George Kittle, cornerstones of the offense, are out for awhile, and RB Tevin Coleman is iffy. This season, the 49ers’ injured reserve roster has included their three primary QBs, plus eight RBs, WRs and TEs who have contributed. The defense has not been unscathed, which sets up QB Aaron Rodgers for a comeback from his blah performance on Sunday. Complicating matters, the Niners face a short week to ready themselves for the relatively healthy Packers.

Green Bay Packers (-5.5) at San Francisco 49ers
This rematch of the NFC title game last January has a different look to it for the 49ers in a big way. They are decimated by injuries, starting Nick Mullens at quarterback while being without George Kittle. They can still run the ball, which has been a problem for the Packers. But without Kittle and with a backup quarterback, it will be tougher to run it. The Packers will be thin at running back, but I think Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay passing game will move the ball and find a way to win against a depleted team.
Pick: Packers 28, 49ers 21
