ST. LOUIS @ PITTSBURGH | 08/12 | 12:35 PM EDT
ST. LOUIS -125
ANALYSIS: I was probably going to pass on this one, but the Pirates are resting their best player in Bryan Reynolds and they are just 7-22 vs. left-handers. It's southpaw Wade LeBlanc on the mound for the Redbirds, who have won the first two of the series by a combined score of 8-1. In fact, they have won nine straight at PNC Park dating to last year. LeBlanc has a 2.94 ERA in his seven starts with the Cardinals. Pittsburgh's JT Brubaker was quite good through June but has really fallen off. He is 0-3 with a 5.94 ERA this year vs. St. Louis.
MILWAUKEE @ CHI. CUBS | 08/12 | 2:20 PM EDT
UNDER 9
ANALYSIS: All the books are starting to drop this total from 9 to 8.5 so let's grab it now. The wind is blowing out at Wrigley but not hugely so. Milwaukee's Brandon Woodruff has allowed zero earned runs in two starts at Wrigley this year, and that's when the Cubs had an actual lineup not a clown show of Dumbledores. Woodruff has a 1.48 ERA in all day starts. Chicago pitcher Kyle Hendricks has allowed two or fewer earned runs in nine of his last 11 starts and has historically been a better pitcher during the day.
COLORADO @ SAN FRANCISCO | 08/12 | 9:45 PM EDT
SAN FRANCISCO -172
ANALYSIS: I should have grabbed this last night when the Giants were inexplicably only -155 or so but will now because I'm starting to see the ML rise and rise. Colorado pitcher German Marquez has been terrific overall for about two months but hasn't faced the Giants in that time -- he's 0-3 with a 13.86 ERA against them this year. San Francisco's Logan Webb is 3-0 with a 1.85 ERA at home. I get why Larry Hartstein is taking the runline, but getting this under -180 on the ML I think is decent value and my one concern on the RL is this feels like a game the Giants may rest Buster Posey and another regular or two against the road-horrific Rox.
TAMPA BAY @ BOSTON | 08/12 | 4:10 PM EDT
BOSTON +1.5
ANALYSIS: A few sites have now shifted the Rays to very short moneyline favorites and that's fine, I'll quickly jump on Red Sox +1.5 while I can (rarely do outright ML dogs; if books are going to give me a gift even at a higher price, I'll take it). Sure, one always worries how a team's offense will fare the day after scoring double-digit runs (the Sox hung 20 on Wednesday), but that may have simply woken Boston out of its slumber. It also starts impressive young pitcher Tanner Houck (2.45 ERA) today. Tampa's Drew Rasmussen (4.09 ERA in relief since coming over from Brewers in trade) will serve as an opener.

TAMPA BAY @ BOSTON | 08/12 | 4:10 PM EDT
BOSTON -111
ANALYSIS: The Red Sox exploded for 20 runs yesterday but I think it was more of a momentum boost than the actual offense breaking out. I don’t think they’ll score 20 runs again but I do think the Red Sox gained enough confidence to get the rubber game at home. The Rays are 1-4 in Boston this season and they are going with a bullpen game today starting with Drew Rasmussen. Tanner Houck has been very good for the Red Sox in his seven starts but he has been unable to get deep into the game. I like the Red Sox at home to win the series.
ST. LOUIS @ PITTSBURGH | 08/12 | 12:35 PM EDT
ST. LOUIS -130
ANALYSIS: Wade Leblanc has actually been very good since being entered into the starting rotation He has only allowed more than one run twice in his seven starts and never allowed more than three runs. The Pirates have lost seven games in a row and their offense has mustered three total hits in the first two games of this series. The Pirates struggle against lefties and JT Brubaker is coming off one of his worst starts of the season. Take the Cards to get the sweep.
L.A. DODGERS @ PHILADELPHIA | 08/12 | 1:05 PM EDT
PHILADELPHIA +130
ANALYSIS: The Phillies had won eight straight games before losing the first two games of this series, although both had rain delays causing relievers to come in earlier than expected. Naturally this was to the Phillies disadvantage. They have Ranger Suarez pitching today and he should be stretched out enough to go four or five much needed innings for the Phillies. Both bullpens have been taxed the last two days and Mitchell White is starting for the Dodgers who also isn’t very stretched out. I think whoever gets the lead early will get the win and I like the Phillies to bounce back at home after losing the first two games of this series.

ST. LOUIS @ PITTSBURGH | 08/12 | 12:35 PM EDT
ST. LOUIS -1.5
ANALYSIS: I was waiting for lineups to drop for this one, a highly recommended practice on Thursdays due to it being a travel day, and with Bryan Reynolds sitting for the Pirates, this is a good price to continue to fade a bad team. Pittsburgh is 2-8 ATS in its last 10 and has scored seven runs in its last five. RHP J.T. Brubaker looked shaky in his last start and has allowed a .911 OPS in his four career starts against the Cardinals. The Pirates are facing LHP Wade Leblanc and are the worst team by weighted runs created plus (wRC+) against left-handers this year. When the underdog, Pittsburgh has lost by more than one run in 60 of 69 defeats. There's a good chance to get a win by multiple runs here. Take St. Louis -1.5 at +120.
