CLEMSON -1
ANALYSIS: Cheez-It Bowl -- While I do have some concerns over the level of motivation that Clemson may have not being in a playoff game and having lost both coordinators, Iowa State has been gutted by transfers/opt-outs. The latest was star running back and All-American Breece Hall, who will skip to prepare for the draft. Hall had scored at least one rushing TD in 24 consecutive games, an FBS record, and led the nation in scoring (138 points), touchdowns (23) and rushing touchdowns (20). He was fourth in the nation in all-purpose yards at 147.2 yards per game. So, yeah, pretty big loss.
MARYLAND @ VIRGINIA TECH | 12/29 | 2:15 PM EST
MARYLAND -159
ANALYSIS: Pinstripe Bowl -- I'm pretty angry at myself that I didn't take Maryland when this was basically a pick'em as the Hokies were losing guys left and right to the transfer portal or draft. The latest was starting QB Braxton Burmeister over the weekend, which jacked up this line. So Tech likely will be starting Connor Blumrick, who is 7-for-16 on the season. I don't like -3.5 so moneyline it is as I do think Maryland wins.

MARYLAND -3.5
ANALYSIS: Terrapins quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa is going to turn this one into a shootout, and the combination of a coaching transition and lack of experienced quarterbacks will make it impossible for the Hokies to keep up. This line has been all over the place, but late movement toward the Terps suggests that something’s up on the Hokie side.
OREGON @ OKLAHOMA | 12/29 | 9:15 PM EST
UNDER 60
ANALYSIS: Both of these teams are transitioning to new coaches, which means you might see some sloppiness and some auditions throughout the game. What’s more, the under has hit in the majority of the games for both teams, and a 60-point total seems a bit aggressive for a game that should be sloppier than advertised.
CLEMSON @ IOWA ST. | 12/29 | 5:45 PM EST
CLEMSON -2.5
ANALYSIS: The Tigers’ defense has been lights out all season, and it’s not like Iowa State’s offense is lethal sans star running back Breece Hall. Clemson didn’t cover in its first six games of the season, but has covered in three of its last four. Meanwhile, Iowa State hasn’t covered in four of its last six – and that was with Hall in the lineup. Clemson will get a big win and take some momentum into the offseason.

IOWA ST. +2.5
ANALYSIS: Every one of the players on Clemson’s roster signed up to be playing for championships, College Football Playoff games or even a New Year’s Day bowl, and they’ve done that well, winning two titles since 2016. But now they get the Cheez-It Bowl on Dec. 29. On the other hand, Iowa State wants to be in this game. They Cyclones want to use it as a tool for recruiting, and the players want to beat Clemson. Iowa State beat Oregon last season in a bowl, and I think the Cyclones can beat the Tigers despite running back Breece Hall opting out for the NFL. Iowa State covers.

EDMONTON @ ST. LOUIS | 12/29 | 8:30 PM EST
UNDER 6.5
ANALYSIS: You all know the drill: I'm going Under 6.5 goals no matter what. I think it's fairly smart here especially as both teams are missing a ton of scoring in the protocols/injured. In the past 10 games, Edmonton is averaging only 2.7 goals. The Under is 5-1 in the Oilers' past six vs. teams with a winning record and 4-0-1 in the Blues' past five overall.

TENNESSEE @ ALABAMA | 12/29 | 9:00 PM EST
ALABAMA -2
ANALYSIS: Love the spot for Alabama, which has failed to cover four straight. The Crimson Tide spent the past eight days hearing about how bad they are defensively, while the Volunteers are the toast of Tennessee after knocking off previously unbeaten Arizona. Yet Alabama, which has lost two of its last three, is still favored. This is both teams' SEC opener; the atmosphere will be electric. Expect an Alabama performance more reminiscent of its wins over Gonzaga and Houston than its loss to Davidson. Lay the small number.

LSU @ AUBURN | 12/29 | 7:00 PM EST
UNDER 140
ANALYSIS: Both of these teams have elite defenses. The LSU Tigers have the number two scoring defense (54.1 PPG) and the number one defense in terms of field goal percentage (33.8%). The Auburn Tigers are only allowing 59.3 PPG on 36.8 percent from the field on their home court. The Under has cashed in nine of the LSU Tigers’ last ten games and in each of the Auburn Tigers’ last three games. I expect the defenses to be dominant in this matchup as the game stays under the total.
DEPAUL @ BUTLER | 12/29 | 5:00 PM EST
DEPAUL +1
ANALYSIS: The Blue Demons have been a big surprise this season. They are 9-1 SU and 8-2 ATS this season. Their offense has been amazing as they are averaging 81.6 PPG. The Bulldogs have been underperforming this season. Even though they are 7-4 SU, they are just 3-7 ATS including 1-4 ATS at home. The Bulldogs home offense is terrible. They are averaging just 61.9 PPG on 41.2 percent shooting in their six home games. The Blue Demons are one of the best rebounding teams in the Big East while the Bulldogs are one of the worst. The Blue Demons should take advantage of this and win the game outright.

MARYLAND -3.5
ANALYSIS: Hokies are flooding the transfer portal, while WR Tre Turner has shifted his attention to the NFL. Add in an interim head coach, J.C. Price, and Tech is dealing with too much chaos. With QB Braxton Burmeister and nearly all of his targets gone, the Hokies appear unlikely to capitalize on the 92nd-ranked defense in FBS. Terrapins QB Taulia Tagovailoa, at his best, plays like big brother Tua, which gives Maryland a significant check mark at the position.

ANALYSIS: Last one left in the Virginia Tech locker room, please turn out the light. Seriously, the Hokies are under an interim coaching staff and missing a host of key players -- including their top 2 QBs, 2 WRs, and best corner -- for this game. It's hard to imagine them hanging even if they show up ready to play.

ARKANSAS @ MISS. STATE | 12/29 | 5:00 PM EST
MISS. STATE -3.5
ANALYSIS: Prior to the break for the holidays, Arkansas dropped two of three games, losing to Oklahoma and Hofstra. Now, after more than a week off, the Razorbacks have to go on the road and play a tough game against Mississippi State. The Bulldogs are a super well-balanced team, with five players averaging more than 10 points per game. They are led by Iverson Molinar, who not only leads the team in scoring (16.9 PPG) but also in assists (4.4 APG). Mississippi State shoots 36.0 percent from the three-point arc, ranking it No. 69 in the country. Arkansas has trouble defending the three-point line, allowing teams to shoot 36.4 percent, ranking the Hogs No. 288.

MIAMI @ SAN ANTONIO | 12/29 | 8:30 PM EST
SAN ANTONIO -158
ANALYSIS: In these days of protocols, it's risky picking a game this early in the day, but Miami other than Jimmy Butler, Duncan Robinson and Tyler Herro has been absolutely gutted by protocols with three more rotation guys landing on the list this morning. It's also the second of a B2B for the Heat and those three good players listed above all played heavy minutes Monday against Washington. There's really no way the Spurs should lose this unless of course some of their guys land in protocols later today.

UTAH @ PORTLAND | 12/29 | 10:00 PM EST
UNDER 228.5
ANALYSIS: Utah will play its second straight game without leading scorer Donovan Mitchell and was "held" to 110 points without him Monday in San Antonio. Portland remains without the likes of CJ McCollum, Robert Covington and Jusuf Nurkic. When these teams met on Nov. 29, the Jazz won 129-107 but Mitchell had 30 points and McCollum and Nurkic combined for 43. The Under is 4-1-1 in the Blazers' past six as a home underdog. The SportsLine Projection Model has this one finishing with 221 points.

N.Y. RANGERS @ FLORIDA | 12/29 | 7:00 PM EST
FLORIDA -160
ANALYSIS: It appears as if Florida will have pretty much every key player back from protocols/injury for this game at least going by the morning skate lines. Sergei Bobrovsky is in net and he's 9-1-0 at home. Always worrisome going against the Rangers' Igor Shesterkin, but he has to be rusty having not played since Dec. 3. New York is 1-4 in its past five as a dog.

HIGH POINT +23.5
ANALYSIS: Feels like a bit of a trap game for Michigan State without two of its best players in Marcus Bingham (10.8 ppg, 8.0 rpg) and Max Christie (9.4 ppg, 3.3 rpg) and one reserve, and ahead of a return to Big Ten play this weekend at a good Northwestern team. High Point will be well-coached, we know that, as the Panthers are led by Tubby Smith. The main MSU beat writer in Lansing has the Spartans winning by 16. Works for me.

HOFSTRA -15.5
ANALYSIS: Fading the Tribe here. They are 0-12 SU and ATS in their 12 games against Division I opponents with an average margin of defeat of 15.7 PPG. Now they have to face a very strong opponent in Hofstra. The Pride are 8-3 ATS this season including 5-1 ATS in their last six games. They have an elite offense. They are averaging 80.1 PPG on 47.5 percent shooting from the field. This spread is too low. I expect the Pride’s offense to score too many points for the Tribe to keep up with. Lay the points.
