BIG AL

FRIDAY NBA BAILOUT B-L-O-W-O-U-T WINNER

At 10:35 pm, our selection is on the Oklahoma City Thunder minus 1.5 over Los Angeles.

The Thunder fired coach P.J. Carlesimo 13 games into the season, and replaced him with current coach Scott Brooks. The results have been encouraging, as Oklahoma City is an awesome 23-7 ATS under Brooks! Tonight, the Thunder travel to Los Angeles to take on the hapless Clippers. Perhaps Los Angeles should take a cue from the Thunder and fire its coach, Mike Dunleavy. The Clips have lost 14 of 15, and now find themselves installed as a home underdog to the Thunder. (And it's been three seasons since Oklahoma City was a road favorite over anyone!) In its last game, the Thunder had its best offensive outburst of the season, and scored 122 points in its 1-point win at Golden State. Oklahoma City was led by Russell Westbrook's 30 points, and Kevin Durant and Jeff Green chipped in 27 and 26 points respectively. Los Angeles, of course, is decimated with injuries: Chris Kaman, Baron Davis, Jason Hart, and Mike Taylor will miss tonight's game, and Marcus Camby and Zach Randolph may be sidelined as well. The Clippers are a league-worst 4-18 at home, and Oklahoma City falls into 129-77 and 62-33 ATS revenge systems of mine. Take the Thunder. Good luck, as always...Al McMordie. And don't miss my NBA Underdog Shocker tonight out of two angles that combine for a 79-29 ATS record.

Memphis vs New York
Play: Memphis Grizzlies

Memphis takes on New York at Madison Square Garden Friday evening in an ideal scheduling spot. That's because the Knicks are off an underdog revenge win over Chicago with a revenge game up tomorrow night against Philadelphia. With Memphis 5-2 SU and ATs on this floor in this series, look for the Grizzlies to avenge their worst loss of the season, a 132-103 defeat suffered earlier this year at home against the Knicks.

Steve Merill

Memphis Grizzlies vs. New York Knicks
Play Memphis +6

The Grizzlies are struggling and they fired their head coach Marc Iavaroni yesterday and this should lead to a spark tonight. Weak teams often receive a temporary wake-up call when a head coach is fired in mid-season and this exactly the situation which is needed to get the Grizzlies out of their current 0-7 SU/ATS slide. The recent losing streak has now created line value as the Knicks remain one of the worst teams in the league and should not be laying this many points to any opponent. New York qualifies in a negative 29-61 ATS weak home team situation after their SU dog win on Wednesday and New York also qualifies as a weak defensive favorite as they allow 106.3 points per game and 47.8% FG (versus opponents that average just 98.4 ppg and 45.7%). Memphis fits a strong 82-46 ATS underdog situation which plays on rested road teams on an extended losing streak and the Grizzlies’ struggling offense should find success tonight against the Knicks’ awful defense. Memphis is a young team that has struggled in half-court games this season, but they are athletic and should perform better tonight in a fast-paced, uptempo atmosphere.

Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Golden State Warriors
Play Golden State +6.5

The Warriors are finally getting healthy and they expect to get starting guard Monta Ellis back in the lineup tonight for the first time this season. Ellis had a break out season last year and he has been practicing with the club during his 30-game suspension, so there should not be any disruption tonight. Golden State also expects to get center Andris Biedrins back tonight after he missed Wednesday’s game. The Warriors blew a 6-point lead entering the fourth quarter on Wednesday in an eventual 122-121 home loss versus Oklahoma City. Despite that last second loss, the Warriors are still in solid current form as they play their sixth straight home game as they have not lost any of their past five games by more than two points. Golden State also fits a 41-23 ATS situation which plays on underdogs that have scored 100+ points in multiple games. While the Warriors are finally getting healthy, the Cavaliers are battling multiple injuries and will once again be without two key players tonight as center Zydrunas Ilgauskas is out with an ankle injury and guard Delonte West is out with a wrist injury. These are two of the top four scorers on the team and combine to average 26.1 points per game this season and 10.2 rebounds per game. LeBron James is also nursing a bicep injury. The Cavaliers are coming off an impressive win versus the Blazers on Wednesday, but Cleveland has letdown recently on the road versus losing teams, including outright losses at Chicago (+8) and at Washington (+9) this month. Overall, the Cavs have been a much weaker team on the road this season as they stand a perfect 20-0 SU (16-4 ATS) at home, but only 12-8 SU/ATS on the road.
