1.5-Unit Play. Take #871 Brown (+6) over Yale (7 p.m., Friday, Jan. 23)
Brown lost to Yale last Saturday at home and now, in kind of a scheduling quirk, they play back-to-back games. I normally don't buy into "revenge" in-season, but when you're playing the same team twice in a row I, a week apart with no games in between, then I think it could come into play. On top of that, Brown was actually leading at halftime and they held an 11-point lead in the game. That tells me that they can win this one outright and that's what I think they do. Brown shot 17-for-26 from the free throw line and I think that improves as well. This is the right side.

3-Unit Play. Take #875 San Francisco (+8.5) over Santa Clara (11 p.m., Friday, Jan. 23)
San Fran has lost five straight games, both straight up and ATS. But those games came at Boston College and then against the four best teams in the WCC. They were blown out in those games, but they were obviously overmatched. Tonight they won't be. Santa Clara has lost to all of the same teams over the last couple weeks, albeit by some smaller margins. But the bottom line is that they are not that much better than the Dons that they are just going to step on the court and hang a double-digit win on the board. They only have five wins against D-I teams on the year. Only one - against 1-19 Sacramento State - was by more than three points. Their overall average margin of victory was by six points and if you kick out the Sac State game it is just 2.5. Seven of the past 10 meetings have been determined by eight points or less and the road team is 5-2 ATS in the last seven. Santa Clara is not anywhere near as strong as they have been the past several years and I think that tonight a loss - either SU or ATS - will just prove that further.

1-Unit Play. Take #871 Brown (+11) over Yale (7 p.m.) AND #875 San Francisco (+13.5) over Santa Clara (11 p.m.)
Been losing an awful lot of games lately by 1 point or less. This buys some insurance against a bad beat.
