4 Unit Play (NBA). Take Over 188.5 between Detroit Pistons @ OKC

The other day I mentioned to you how I thought OKC was going to beat the Jazz Outright at home - well, they did. Then, I talked about how the Bulls have a great shot at defeating the Cavs outright at home yesterday - and, they did. Even further back, one of my biggest POD back in December was when OKC was at Detroit and they covered easily as they ended up losing 88-90 as they were 11 point chalks in that game. Well, much like OKC got revenge on the Jazz at home, they will get their revenge on the Pistons. But, there is a caveat - a twist if you may in this contest. The fact is that the Pistons have lost 3 in a row and i can't force myself to bet against the 'Stones despite them losing 3 in a row as they are on the path to potentially lose 4 in a row after their OT loss to Indiana. But, over 70% of the public is on the road chalk here and that has an Outright win written all over for OKC. Regardless, we will indirectly bet against the Pistons. How? We will do this by taking the Over as I believe OKC will be an "active dog' and consequently push this game over. I have talked and written about my active dog theory extensively. When you have a dog that is "active", they consequently exceed expectations and push the total over. This was the same principle we used to cash on the OKC/Utah over as I talked about how OKC was going to exceed expectations and score more often which forced Utah (the favorite) to keep up and consequently the total spills over. I expect this game to total in the high 190's today as both teams should reach in the mid 90's or more by the time all is set and done.

4 Unit Play. Take the Yale Bulldogs +4 over Brown

Let's make it 4-1 this week in college basketball with tonight's winner and secure our back to back winning weeks. I actually think Yale can win this game outright. The last time these two teams played last year Yale fell short and they are cognizant of that. Plus, Yale has played a tougher non-conference schedule this year so their overall record compared to Brown's is irrelevant. Look, I know Yale is 5-9 but that is irrelevant. Why? Well, because Yale has played the likes of Stanford at home and lost by just 8, Vermont on the road, Portland on the road, Oregon State on the road and actually won that game 53-52 and lost to Alabama by just 3 points on the road. You think Yale is intimidated in going to Brown to play a conference game? lol. This team has played Bama, Portland, Vermont and Oregon State on the road so I can promise you that this team is not afraid of Brown. Plus, over 70% of the public is favoring Brown here and their 6-8 record. But, look who those wins come against for Brown. This team has defeated the likes of MIT who is not even a division 1 basketball team, Bryant university who is one of the wost schools in the country ranked outside the top 320, Quinnapac (another team ranked outside the top 300), Eastern Michigan and Hartford - all outside the top 300. In short, Brown has played some cupcake teams and are not as tested as Yale who has not played some very tough competition. I expect Yale to be very game today as they should compete for the Ivy Title but more importantly, they should have the experience, talent and being vetted through a solid non-conference schedule to pull the Outright her today or stay within the 4 points. The Bulldogs of Yale are 4-1 ATS over their last 4 while the Brown Bears are 0-5 ATS over their last 5 games.

Larry Ness

15* Revenge Rout-NBA (6-3 in BKB since Monday)

My 15* Revenge Rout is on the LA Lakers at 10:35 ET. The Lakers are the NBA's highest scoring team at 107.8 PPG but no team matches the Magic when it comes to making three-pointers (407 on the year to-date), including an NBA single-game record 23 in Tuesday's 139-107 rout over the Kings in Sacramento. The Magic were an excellent road team last year and this year own the league's best road mark, going 15-5 SU and 14-5-1 ATS. The Magic have won their last five games (overall), including the first two games of this four-game trip (won 105-98 at San Antonio on Sunday, prior to beating the Kings). The Magic have a game at Denver tomorrow night, before returning home to host the Celtics on Jan 22 (tough stretch). As for the Lakers, it's been a year of ATS streaks. They opened 7-0 (6-1 ATS) before losing at home to the Pistons on Nov 14. They followed that loss with seven straight wins (just 3-4 ATS) and then after a loss at Indiana, began a stretch of 10 straight ATS losses a few days later (on Dec 5), with a win over Washington. The Lakers were 7-3 SU in that ATS slide but beginning with a 100-89 win at New Orleans on Dec 23, won five straight ATS. LA had dropped four straight games ATS when it won at Houston on Tuesday (105-100) and followed that win (and cover) with an ATS win at San Antonio the next night, although the team lost 112-111. Kobe (27.2-5.3-4.7) is having another superb season and Gasol (17.7-9.2) has surely done his part. Bynum (12.6-7.8) is back healthy and after a stretch in which he failed to reach double digits in EIGHT of 14 games (Dec 9-Jan 6), has averaging 18.2 PPG over his last five. Some of LA's problems are that Odom (8.9-6.0) has been nagged by injuries all season, Farmar (7.9) is out for some time with a knee injury plus reserves Vujacic and Walton have both been in and out of the lineup. Orlando relies more on its starting five than any team in the leaguer, led by Howard (20.2-13.8), Lewis (19.1-6.0). Turkoglu (16.9-5.3), Nelson (16.6-3.4-5.3) and Pietrus (11.7). Pietrus is out with a wrist injury (second time TY he's missed significant time) and his defense will be sorely missed (he would have guarded Kobe). The Lakers are 20-2 SU at home but because of 'high numbers,' are just 10-12 ATS. However, let's note that LA outscores its opponents here in the Staples Center by an average of 109.4-to-99.3 PPG. Playing with some "revenge" from a 106-103 loss in Orlando on Dec 20, expect LA to be in "top form" tonight and "cool off" the streaking Magic. Revenge ROUT 15* LA Lakers.
