Big Al Mcmordie
Game: Memphis Grizzlies at San Antonio Spurs Nov 23 2007 8:35PM
Prediction: Memphis Grizzlies
Reason: At 8:35 pm, on Friday night, our Member selection is on the Memphis Grizzlies plus the points over San Antonio. The Spurs played (perhaps) their best regular season game in years Wednesday when they defeated Orlando 128-110, after trailing at halftime. Most impressive in San Antonio's victory was its turnover to assist ratio, as the Spurs had 30 assists against just 3 turnovers, and didn't commit any turnovers until the final play of the 3rd quarter! That win was the first for any NBA home team this season against the Magic, who are off to a 10-3 start, and I feel it will be a game the Spurs will have a tough time replicating. Earlier this year, Memphis played SA very tough, losing 104-101 at home, and that game came down to the wire, and was finally salted away by a Manu Ginobili lay-up. San Antonio is a poor 9-14 ATS vs. the Grizzlies at home, including 3-9 ATS as a favorite of more than 10 points. Take the Grizz. Good luck, as always...Al McMordie.

CFB Conf. Shocker of the Month! (Friday)
I'm taking the points with the Cornhuskers on Friday. It was lightly reported before the season that Husker players were disappointed when Joe Ganz was passed over as starting QB for Arizona State-transfer Sam Keller. Not that the players didn't like their new teammate, but because Ganz had been in the program and in Callahan's highly complex system for three years. Since Keller's injury, Ganz has made two starts and the offense has not looked better all season. The junior signal caller has thrown for over 900 yards in those two games, including 510 in NU's 73-31 UNDERDOG thrashing of K-State. The WRs, the RBs, and the linemen all had a new bounce to their step with Ganz on the field. Nebraska scored on 11 straight possessions against the Wildcats and finished with a total of 702 yards at 8.8 per play, just a week removed from hanging 39 on the undefeated Jayhawks in Ganz first start. This week, the Husker arsenal will face a depth-shy Colorado defense that has hit the skids. CU has allowed 55 and 31 points in their last two games. In fact, against comparable offenses in Texas Tech & Mizzou, the Buffs' defense allowed 1,068 yards at 6.59 yards per play. The secondary was torched for 860 yards at 8.04 yards per pass, and gave up 73 completions on 107 attempts, a 68% rate! CU allowed 54 first downs in those two recent games. In fact, Dan Hawkins' defense allowed a 7-to-2, TD-to-INT ratio in their last two games, including the 31-28 loss to Iowa State. In their last five games (1-4 SU/ATS) the Buffaloes have been outgained by almost 100 yards per game, while being outscored by over two TDs per game. Finally, the road team is 8-4 ATS the last 12 and the dog in this heated series is on an 8-3 spread run. It's bowl elimination time and the Huskers escape with the win. I'm taking the points with Nebraska on Friday. Thanks! GL! Scott

John's Free College Football Selection for Friday!

Selection: Akron +2.5 (-110)

Reason: Put us down on Akron +2.5 for our Free College Football Selection on Friday. Akron is facing their second strait losing season this year after being completely shut out by Miami last week; the first time in 12 years. The defeat came a! t 7-0 with the offense allowing 3 turnovers and gaining just 216 yards. This was after a Zips victory against Ohio by 48 points. While their offense was poor to say the least, the Akron defense was impressive. They drove Miami into 4 turnovers, allowed them to gain only 320 yards and effectively prevented the Miami offense from putting up points. It is important to remember that Akron is a hard act to follow at home. In their last 11 games at home, the Zips are 9-2 straight up. Until last week Central Michigan remained undefeated when it came to conference plays. Their repeated wins came in spite of allowing their opponents to score an average of 38 points per game. Their saving grace was an offense that averaged just less than 45 points per game. But last Friday the Central Michigan offense buckled under the pressure from Eastern Michigan, resulting in their first MAC loss of 48-45 though this defeat will not effect them in the December 1st MAC championship competition. Despite C! entral Michigan’s impressive appearances they are in fact just 2-3-1 against the spread in their last 6 games on the road. Facing the Zips high performing offense on their home turf spells trouble for Central Michigan. In this case, the vaule is with the Akron Zips! Take Akron +2.5!

Wyoming Cowboys v/s Colorado St. Rams 11/23/2007 2:00:00 pm

Wyoming was left out of the postseason in 2006 even though it was bowl eligible. However, the team's total collapse this year, makes bowl eligibility here (with a sixth win), almost a mute point! Wyoming won four of its first five games but since then the team has fallen in five of six, including three in a row. After being punished by Utah (55-0) for the comments made by head coach Joe Glenn about guaranteeing a win in Salt Lake City, the Pokes followed that up with a 35-10 loss to BYU last Saturday. Wyoming has dropped SIX straight ATS and is 0-7-1 ATS in its last eight. As for the Rams, they were carrying one of the longest losing streaks in the nation at one point, but put an end to that with a 48-23 thrashing of UNLV on the road last month. More recently, CSU picked up its second victory of the season in a 42-34 decision against Georgia Southern at home last Saturday, which means the Rams still have only one win this year versus a member of Division I-A. CSU is at least playing hard down the stretch, something that can't be said about Wyoming. This may be head coach Sonny Lubick's final game at Fort Collins and I'll back the Rams for that reason. This is the 99th edition of the Border War, which is the oldest rivalry for both programs on the football field. Look for the Rams to put forth a big effort. Take CSU.
