CHIP CHIRIMBES

HAWKS at HEAT
Pick: HAWKS +2.5

The Atlanta Hawks and Miami Heat enter this contest with the same records of 12-9 but both these teams are viewing this season differently off of last years results. Mimai was horrible last year winning only 15 of 82 games while the Hawks took the World Champion Celtics to seven games before falling in the playoffs. The Hawks started the season 6-0 and then fell, winning only six of their next 15. The Heat are just what they need. take ATLANTA!

Jack Jones

Friday Pick on Boston -6.5

Boston has won 13 straight games and their 21-2 record is the best 23 game start in franchise history. Last night they dominated the Wizards in a 122-88 win and are second in the league with a 90.8 ppg scoring defense. Opponents are shooting just 41.5% against Boston and even though they are playing back-to-back nights, I'm not worried since due to the blowouts nobody should have tired legs. Boston is 19-8 ATS versus good shooting teams - making >=46% of their shots over the last 2 seasons and they are 30-10 ATS versus good teams - outscoring their opponents by 3+ points/game over the last 2 seasons. New Orleans is 21-41 ATS (-24.1 Units) in road games after a win by 10 points or more since 1996.

Wunderdog

Orlando at Phoenix
Pick: UNDER 209

Orlando is making a good living on the NBA road as they are willing to play defense and it shows with their gaudy 8-2 road mark. The Magic have allowed just 94.8 points per game on the road this season. The Suns are not the same up-tempo team they were in recent years, especially with Shaq in the middle of things. They have recently played some high-scoring games, but against teams that like to get up-and-down the court. That won't be the case tonight as the Magic slow things down, and when they have had a couple days rest the Magic are 8-0 to the UNDER and 22-9 to the UNDER off an ATS win. They don't get the willing "dance" partner tonight and with a lofty total that indicates they will, I'll play this one UNDER.

Doc's Sports

Toronto Raptors @ New Jersey Nets
PICK: New Jersey Nets

This one barely missed the cut for our members picks as we thought our other three games were stronger but we still think the Nets will shine tonight. The Raptors are a very shaky road team and haven’t covered in three straight on the road and have a 4-7 record overall in road games. New Jersey has been underestimated by the oddsmakers all season long and they are one of the small group of profitable teams in the league. These two teams met recently in Toronto and the Nets came away with an OT victory and should play better tonight in front of the home fans. The Raptors have been burning a lot of money for backers, going 2-9 ATS in their last nine. Also, the home team is 11-5 ATS in the last 17 meetings (one push) so there is precedent for the Nets to cover this small line as home chalk.
