The Bengals opened as a 1 point favorite at some books. The latest line I have by Wednesday August 4th, is Cincinnati-2.5 and a total of 33.
Coaches
Marvin Lewis is no world beater with a 5-7 record the last three years. Wade Phillips has split his pre-season games every year.
Players
Dez Bryant will not play, and Romo has had a sore shoulder, so he could actually miss this game. On the otherside of the ball, T.O. will draw extra coverage opening up other Bengal receivers (Ochocinco). Add the fact that Dallas has given up 31 points in their first game the last two years under Phillips.
Intangibles
Dallas plays Oakland with three days rest. Cincinnati has a home game (Canton, Ohio).
Motivation
The Bengals were bounced out of the playoffs last year and may need a confidence builder early to get back to the way they played during the early and middle part of the season. If T.O. gets in the action, he will be giving a little more effort to get back at a team who snubbed him.
The Pick
You have to like the Bengals chances in this one. They are loaded at the receiver position. The over 33 has a shot since the Cowboys work on offense early in the pre-season and have allowed a total of 62 points in their last two openers.
