You and me both Armuchee.

Don't worry, I will put an end to it one way or another.

If they don't get with the program I will just make who wants to access them pay up. Then, I won't give a fuck because I will make back some of the money these morons have cost me and the site won't crash because gamblers are cheap and very few people would cough up the money to view them.

Hopefully the schedule we will put together for this weekend will solve the problem but if not, I won't hesitate to put the service plays in their own forum and charge for access.

I hope it doesn't come to that but 75,000 people visit this site on average over the weekends and there is no way I am gonna let the 3-4000 people who want to see those service plays piss off the 70,000 who don't even come in the forum.

First off, I really appreciate Michael Cash and Blade for making this site so useful. I would hate to see it end becausee people refresh so often that the site crashes. That being said, it would be helpful I think to instruct the users on how to get updated material without refreshing.

Maybe I am one of the offenders. I might click on page 1 and then on page 4 say, just to update new stuff. Is that causing a problem?

Most people have no idea what a drain on the server constantly hitting refresh every ten seconds does to the site, not only can not access the site but nobody else can either.

It's not everyone, it's a few hundred people out of many thousands. But by constantly hitting refresh over and over and over again for 2-3 hours when the site is packed with people they can artificially inflate their impact on the site.

Say there are 500 people viewing the service plays at once and all of those people hit refresh every 1 or 2 or 5 minutes from 10am until 12 or 1pm. By doing that, those 500 people cause the server to think that there are 50,000 people all trying to access the same thing at the same time.

That causes the server to start slowing down because it begins to have trouble managing that many queries at the same time. Once the site starts slowing down, those 500 people notice that and instead of clicking refresh every minute and waiting for the page to update they get pissed after about 10 seconds and hit refresh again and then after 10 more seconds of the page still not loading they hit refresh again and repeat the process until the server gets overloaded and shuts down.

When that happens, everyone gets disconnected, the server and the database need to be rebooted and because everyone is pissed the site crashed they start the whole process of clicking and clicking and clicking all over again.

It's very upsetting to me to get emails from people who want use the odds feeds and the matchups and the public betting charts and I have to explain to them that they are offline because some jackasses in the forum are crashing my site so they can see the latest losers from brandon fucking lang.

And I really don't want to penalize anyone but I am sick of this shit. I shouldn't have to sit here every Saturday and Sunday and babysit my server because the people that visit the site are so fucking impatient they have to have whatever we post within milliseconds of Blade hitting submit. It makes me angry, it make Blade angry and it makes people who don't care about the forum or the service plays angry when they can't get the info we provide to do their own handicapping.

Mr. Cash, what you have just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this thread is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

keep up the good work, the site looks great.

I'm not laughing and I'd advise you to tread lightly. One button I push and your posting career is over as quickly as it started.
