Any of you guys have one of these units? I picked a couple up off eBay after my sister in law telling me about them and I don't know how I ever lived without this thing. Best $60 I have ever spent.
Mike a friend of mine has one and he swears by it..free pay per view, all the sports, etc.
Since I live in the sticks with slow internet I don't think I can use it.
How slow is your internet? You got cable or fiber or DSL? You might just need to upgrade some equipment.
I have Comcast and a couple years ago I got rid of all their rental shit and bought my own. We play a lot of video games around here and with a lot of these games connection is what wins games. So I bought a modem off Amazon and I bought a Netgear Nighthawk router from Best Buy, that Nighthawk is fucking incredible. I can't say enough about that thing. You might just need to upgrade some hardware as long as what you got coming into the house is decent.
Your buddy is right though, this thing is amazing. I can't believe I had never even heard of this shit until a couple months ago. The amount of stuff this thing will spit out for no charge is incredible. Movies still in the theater, all pay channels, all sports, international TV.

Mike my internet is like 12 megs (ATT) and 2 miles from my house the city of Chattanooga has their own fiber optics network that offers 1 gig, but because of politics is not available for everyone! So I just go to The Pirates Bay and steel shit
I hate AT&T. Had a phone from them I couldn't even use in my house.
Anyway, I would still grab a firestick and see what happens. They are the cheapest ones at like $30 on eBay and if it even works a little bit you can watch all the fights, all hoops, everything.

The boxes are better than the sticks because the boxes have more processing power. But the stick will get you into the game cheap. I bought a quad core box for $57.99 off eBay.
