No. 7 LSU is looking for offensive improvement on Saturday when the Tigers head to Mississippi State for a 12:20PM ET kickoff from Davis Wade Stadium.
The Tigers have allowed just 12 points in their last two games, but offensive struggles have kept them from blowing teams out and making more of a statement in the national scene. Jordan Jefferson has thrown for only 475 yards through three games, but does have five touchdown passes to just one interception. Jefferson has also rushed for 77 yards, but the tandem of Keiland Williams and Charles Scott are leading the LSU rushing attack with 164 yards each. Currently LSU is ninth in points per-game in the SEC and last in total yards per-game. On defense, the Tigers rank second in the conference in turnovers forced and are amongst the best in yards allowed despite playing one of the toughest schedules of any SEC team thus far.
Mississippi State is ranking lower than LSU in total offense as the Bulldogs have struggled since their opening win over Jackson State. Mississippi State lost at Auburn before winning at Vanderbilt last weekend 15-3. Mississippi State held Vanderbilt to just 157 yards in the win and on offense Anthony Dixon rushed for 123 yards to lead the way. Dixon has 215 yards in two games while Chris Relf and Christian Ducre have also each rushed for over 100 yards on the season. Relf has split time with Tyson Lee at quarterback, with the two combining for 383 yards and four touchdowns.
