Baltimore Ravens (-9) at Jacksonville Jaguars
Why Ravens cover: Defense already No. 1 in league, yielding just 14.2 ppg, and now faces one of most inept offenses, with Jags scoring just 12 ppg (31st) behind rookie QB Blaine Gabbert. And Monday night spotlight a dichotomy: Baltimore 5-1 ATS last six, Jacksonville 2-7 ATS last nine.
Why Jaguars cover: Best that can be said: Home team 4-0-1 ATS last five in this rivalry.
Total (39.5): Over 5-1 in Ravens’ last six, but low-scoring Jags on under streaks of 5-1 overall and 5-0 on Monday night.
Ravens at Jaguars: What Bettors Need to Know

Baltimore Ravens at Jacksonville Jaguars (+9.5, 40)
THE STORY: Mired in a five-game losing streak amid growing speculation that their coach's job is in jeopardy, one of the last teams the Jacksonville Jaguars want to see come to town Monday night is the Baltimore Ravens. Jacksonville is among the league's lowest-scoring teams and now must host a Ravens team that has surrendered an NFL-low 71 points. That's not exactly the ideal recipe to help beleaguered coach Jack Del Rio and the offensively challenged Jaguars avoid a sixth consecutive loss for the first time since the franchise's inaugural season in 1995.
ABOUT THE RAVENS (4-1): Baltimore is riding a three-game winning streak and is coming off an impressive 29-14 win over Houston, a division rival of the Jaguars. Despite questions about their offense, last week’s scoring output was the lowest for the Ravens in any of their wins. Joe Flacco overcame two turnovers to throw for 305 yards and Ray Rice rushed for 101 yards and had five catches for 60 yards. WR Anquan Boldin had eight catches for 132 yards, both season highs. Baltimore limited Arian Foster, the league’s leading rusher last season, to 49 yards on 15 carries.
ABOUT THE JAGUARS (1-5): Despite its offensive ineptitude, Jacksonville showed some moxie a week ago, battling back from a 17-0 deficit in Pittsburgh to get into position for a failed Hail Mary pass at the end of the game. Rookie QB Blaine Gabbert threw for only 109 yards and a TD in his fourth start since replacing Luke McCown. Maurice Jones-Drew rushed for 96 yards on 22 carries. On an offense bereft of playmakers, Jones-Drew has managed to run for at least 84 yards in each game. He is third in the league with 572 yards rushing.
EXTRA POINTS:
1. Last week, Ravens LB Ray Lewis became the first player in league history with at least 40 career sacks and 30 interceptions.
2. Jones-Drew needs six yards rushing to reach 8,000 for his career.
3. Baltimore has won seven of the last eight meetings with Jacksonville.
LINE MOVEMENT:
The line opened up just above the touchdown hook (7.5) but has been bet up to 9.5 as of Sunday afternoon. It would take an avalanche of Baltimore action to drive this number above another key number (10) but we know the public likes the Ravens a lot in this spot.
Not a lot to talk about with the over/under line. The total is jumping between 39.5 and 40.
TRENDS:
The Ravens are 5-1 ATS in their last six Monday games and last six games as chalk.
The Jags are 3-10 ATS in their last 13 games against winning teams.
The over is 5-1 in the Ravens’ last six games overall while the under is 5-1 in the Jags last six games.
PREDICTION: Ravens 23, Jaguars 13. Baltimore has no problems shutting down Jacksonville’s one-dimensional offense.
Baltimore Ravens Meet Jaguars On Monday Night Football

ESPN’s Monday Night Football features one of the best teams in the National Football League in the Baltimore Ravens as they head to Jacksonville to take on the Jaguars. Kickoff is set for 8:30 p.m. (ET) along the St. Johns River at EverBank Field.
This prime-time matchup opened with the Ravens as an 8½-point favorite but that has actually been bet down to 7½ with a total of 39.
Baltimore (4-1) comes into this game leading the AFC North and off of a home victory over a Houston Texans team many consider to be the class of the AFC South. First and foremost, it’s time to talk defense.
The Ravens have the best defense in the league. Rankings are not needed to illustrate that, but just to emphasize it they are third in yards against, first in points against (14.2), third in rushing defense and second in passing touchdowns allowed (4). The Ravens have six picks on the year and have forced 10 fumbles, recovering an astounding eight of them.
Playmakers, and leaders, are in every level of their defense with Haloti Ngata on the line, Ray Lewis at linebacker and Ed Reed in the secondary.
Jacksonville (1-5) actually has a very solid defense as well. The Jags may not be a great defense as they do not create as many turnovers, but they have done a great job all year. This is a team that does not give up many big plays.
It looked as though their identity was shattered a week ago when WR Mike Wallace and RB Rashard Mendenhall of the Steelers created three big plays en route to a 17-0 lead in the first half. However, the Jags ‘D’ tightened up and allowed just 70 yards in the second half, surrendering no more points.
As usual, the defensive unit did plenty to get Jacksonville a win but the offense did not do enough and the Jaguars lost their fifth game in a row.
Rookie quarterback Blaine Gabbert will complete a 3-game stretch on Monday having played the top-3 ranked defenses in the NFL (Cincinnati, Pittsburgh and Baltimore). Talk about growing up fast. This is one of the poorest offenses in the league caused by a having a young QB and a receiver corps that drops too many passes. The Jags re-signed Mike Sims-Walker this week after he was cut by the Rams.
On the bright side, Maurice Jones-Drew continues to prove he is a top-2 running back in the league week in and week out.
Offensively for the Ravens, running back Ray Rice does everything. He must be accounted for in the running game and in the passing game. As far as the rest of the passing game goes, QB Joe Flacco likes to launch it downfield in addition to checking off to Rice. The Ravens are fourth in the league in pass plays over 40 yards.
Free agent pickup Lee Evans was supposed to help the Ravens go vertical this year, but rookie Torrey Smith has really taken that role. Even tough possession receiver Anquan Boldin went vertical last week.
Here is the most interesting tidbit on this game, or maybe any game this week: John Harbaugh, one of the best coaches in the league, is dynamite coming off of a bye week. Including last week against Houston, his team’s scores in that situation are 28-10, 30-7, 26-10 and 29-14. Those are all at home and they are all wins. However, in the week that follows each of those wins, the scores have been 23-20, 17-7 and 26-21. Those are all on the road and they are all losses.
Well, this week they are on the road in the same situation. An argument could be made, of course, that the Jags are the worst team they have played in this situation. If nothing else, it is very interesting.
In prime-time games, Harbaugh is 7-4 while the Jaguars are 4-7 under head coach Jack Del Rio. The Ravens are 5-1 against the spread in their last six Monday games while the Jags are 2-7 in their last nine Monday contests. On a final note, safety Dawan Landry of the Jaguars will be facing his former team having spent his first five seasons in Baltimore.
Early weather reports call for clear skies with temperatures in the mid-60s.
MNF - Ravens at Jaguars
By Kevin Rogers
VegasInsider.com
The Week 7 card wraps up in north Florida on Monday night as the struggling Jaguars (1-5) host the red-hot Ravens (4-1). Baltimore has an opportunity over the next two weeks to pad its record to 6-1 and help its cause to receive the top seed in the AFC. Meanwhile, Jacksonville is trying to get its offense started up against one of the league's top defensive units.
The Jaguars have scored 13 points or less in four of five losses since an opening week victory over the Titans. In fact, Jack Del Rio's team has reached the end zone just five times during this five-game skid, including one touchdown in a 17-13 setback at Pittsburgh last Sunday. The only good news that came out of that loss was Jacksonville cashed as 12½-point underdogs after cutting a 17-0 deficit to four in the final five minutes.

The Ravens received a reality check after an embarrassing Week 2 defeat at Tennessee, 26-13 as 5 ½-point favorites. Baltimore rebounded nicely with three double-digit victories over the Rams, Jets, and Texans, while covering each game with ease. John Harbaugh's squad held a two-point lead heading into the fourth quarter of last week's win over Houston prior to a 13-point outburst in the final 15 minutes to cash as seven-point favorites.
Baltimore is known for being a hungry defensive team, but the Ravens are one of the league's top 'over' plays through the first six weeks. In fact, the Ravens eclipsed the 'over' in each of the first four games, but barely finished 'under' the total of 43½ in a 29-14 victory over Houston. On the flip side, the Jaguars are 5-1 to the 'under,' with the lone 'over' coming in a surprising shootout against the Bengals in a 30-20 loss.
This rookie class of quarterbacks has several players looking to make impacts, including Jacksonville's Blaine Gabbert. The former Missouri signal-caller is 0-4 as a starter since replacing Luke McCown beginning in Week 3 at Carolina, while completing just 48.8% of his passes. Jacksonville has thrown for the second-fewest touchdowns (4) in the league, while owning the least amount of passing yards (826).
Baltimore doesn't throw it around as many may think, completing just 89 passes through five games (Jacksonville is right behind with 83 completions). The Ravens have balanced things nicely with a sound running game by averaging 121 yards/game on the ground (12th in league), while Ray Rice racked up over 100 yards for the second time this season in the victory over Houston.
Harbaugh has gotten his team up for Monday night affairs since taking over as head coach in 2008 by posting a 4-0 ATS and 3-1 SU mark. The only defeat came in an overtime setback at Pittsburgh in his first season, but the Ravens took the money as six-point 'dogs, 23-20. In fact, the Ravens haven't hosted a Monday night contest under Harbaugh, while coming off road wins over the Jets and Texans last season.
The Ravens have put together a solid record as a road favorite since 2008 with an 8-4 ATS mark. Six of those victories are against non-division foes, while going 3-1 ATS as road 'chalk' of seven points or more. Jacksonville is just 1-4 ATS the last five games in the home underdog role, including losses to Cincinnati and New Orleans this season.
The Jaguars are playing their fourth game under the Monday night lights since 2007, coming off three blowout losses to Indianapolis ('07), Houston ('08), and Tennessee ('10). The ugliest defeat came last season against the Titans as three-point home 'dogs, 30-3, as Jacksonville had won its previous two games prior to that home blowout.
Baltimore is listed as a heavy 9½-point road favorite, while the number is creeping up to 10 as several outfits. The total is set at 40 across the board with several 39½'s hanging out as the weather should be nice with temperatures in the low 70's. The game will be televised nationally on ESPN and kicks off at 8:30 PM EST from EverBank Field.
