Monday Night Football: Packers vs. Bears Picks & Predictions

The last game on the Week 3 schedule will certainly be a tough one to predict, as the Chicago Bears host the Green Bay Packers on Monday Night Football. Read on for a breakdown of the matchup, as well as our free pick for tonight’s game.
Let’s take a look at the odds before making a prediction for tonight’s game.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com have made the Bears 3-point underdogs against the Packers. The over/under total for this game has been set at 45.5 points.
If this game were up to the public, there’s no question they’d pick the Packers. Of the 48,000-plus wagers placed on tonight’s game, 75% of them have been made on the Packers –3.
But is the public on the right side here?
The line is probably set right. The Bears are 2-0, but they were fortunate to beat the Lions in Week 1 after a rule technicality took away a last-minute Calvin Johnson touchdown, although their win over the Cowboys last week was certainly impressive. Still, the Packers are the superior team and although home field advantage is usually worth 3 points, there’s nothing fishy about the line.
So where is the value here? To me, the value is with the Bears, who not only are playing at home but who are also playing with a ton of confidence after beating the Cowboys on the road last week. Jay Cutler threw three touchdowns and zero interceptions and looks completely comfortable running Mike Martz’s offense. The defense has always played pretty well and the Packers could have a hard time slowing Julius Peppers down and keeping him off Aaron Rodgers.
There’s a ton of value in taking the home team getting points – especially on Monday night. Solider Field is a tough place to play and the Bears are my free pick for tonight’s game.
