BIG AL

PHOENIX SUNS - 8.5 -At 9:05 pm, our selection is on the Phoenix Suns minus the points over New York. The Knicks are starting to play good basketball, with wins in three of their last four games, and five straight covers. And this, no doubt, is a game that coach Mike D'Antoni really would like to win, after being shoved out the door by Phoenix GM Steve Kerr. But I don't think the Knicks will get the victory for their coach tonight. New York's last two wins were both upsets, and NBA road dogs are horrid off back-to-back upset wins. Consider that, since 1993, road dogs of less than 11 points off back to back upsets on the road are 0-18 ATS, if their previous win was by 11 or more points, and they're now matched up against a foe off a win. Look for an old-fashioned Blowout on Monday Night.

CHARLOTTE BOBCATS + 8.0 -At 7:05 pm, our selection is on the Charlotte Bobcats plus the points over the Atlanta Hawks. On Saturday night, we won our NBA Game of the Month on Atlanta, and the Hawks snapped Cleveland's 11-game win streak in their victory. But that upset win sets up tonight's play as Atlanta now falls into a letdown system of mine, which is 69-30 ATS, which goes against certain home teams off upset wins. Also, Charlotte comes into tonight's game off six straight losses, and rested NBA road underdogs of more than 7 points off 6+ losses are a solid 69-49 ATS since 1990. Finally, the Bobcats are 11-6 straight-up and 12-5 ATS vs. Atlanta in the history of this series. NBA Southeast Division Game of the Month on Charlotte.

25 Units
Eagles (-16) over Browns

8:30 PM -- Lincoln Financial Field
Philadelphia by 27-28
TV: ESPN Comments: The three major factors to consider when handicapping this game are (1) the fact Philadelphia needs to keep winning to keep its playoff hopes alive, (2) the number of injuries Cleveland has and (3) the weather. The Eagles (7-5-1) are chasing the New York Giants and the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC East for a playoff spot and simply cannot afford to lose. The incentive could not be stronger and the Eagles are playing as if they want it. Now, for those Cleveland injuries. Because of injuries the Browns (4-9) are down to third-string quarterback Ken Dorsey and will also be without running back Jerome Harrison. That does not bode well for a Cleveland team that has not scored a single touchdown in their last three games and scored a total of only 21 points on nine field goals in those games. The weather is supposed to be dreadful, with a 70% chance of rain, and that should hold the score down considerably, I look for the Eagles to open up a comfortable lead and then just coast home, knowing next week they have a showdown game at Washington.

ANDRE GOMES

CLEVELAND / PHILADELPHIA

Honestly, I think this game will be a low scoring one and I have motives to believe in that. We all know the defeat of the Eagles at Baltimore changed the team and especially McNabb. Since then, the Eagles are streaking, but notice once thing: after that game they faced Arizona and the Giants. People talked about how their offense was good on these two games, but I think the true key was the defense. They played Arizona, which has the second best pass offense of the league, with 298.7 passing yards per game and they left the powerful offense of the Cardinals with just 7 points in the first half. Last week, they played the Giants which have the best running offense of the league, with 148.7 rushing yards per game. Still, the Giants scored just 14 points, with 2 TD being scored one in a blocked FG and the other one in the final minute of the game, when the Eagles had already won the game. My point of view is that they faced two elite offensive teams in the past two weeks and they shut them down. And now who are going to face? The lowly Browns.

Cleveland is coming from three games where they scored 6, 6 and 9 points. Now with both Derek Anderson and Brady Quinn injured, the Browns will star Ken Dorsey at quarterback for the second straight week. The defense of the Eagles won't have problems in stopping this struggling offense, who had just 240, 192 and 178 passing yards in their last 3 games. The question in here has to go with what the Eagles will do in the offense. Philadelphia is coming from two good offensive games, but the situation is different in here. They won't need to give their best. For some reason, they are listed at 16 points favorite for this game. They are still in the fight for the playoffs and if you notice, they will play at Washington next week and then against Dallas in the final week of the regular season. So, I wouldn't be surprised to see them burning some time at the middle of the game with long drives just to not get tired and as the Eagles are now a more running based football team, that's likely to happen. Also I don't expect the Browns to give up from fighting. They are 2-0 on MNF and the fact that this is a MNF will give Cleveland the motivation they need to fight tonight.

To support my analysis, I have to say that Philadelphia is 6-0 Under in home games against teams with a losing record over the past three seasons. Also the Eagles are 10-1 Under in home games against poor offensive teams (averaging less than 285 total yards per game) in the second half of the season since 1992. Saying that, take the under in here.

SINGLE DIME PLAY ON UNDER 40

DENVER / DALLAS

For this game, I expect a good offensive performance by both teams and I have motives to think that. Dallas is now on a homecooking spot span and this will be the last home game of a series of 7 home games in a row, where the team is 5-1 right now and with great confidence down the stretch, as remember that 4 of 5 wins were by 5 points or less. Dallas isn't the tradicional team that we are used to watch. They are playing small ball right now. I would even say really small ball. Josh Howard is still out and it has been the little guy Barea who has been playing on "his role". With these lineup changes, Dirk Nowitzki has averaged 32.7 points, 10.1 rebounds and three assists during the homestand. Jason Terry is averaging 22.9 points in the six games. The result of those games has also been the fact that the team is playing in an almost run and gun system. Do you want proofs? They shot more than 80 FG shots in their last 9 games and the team against good offensive teams had 2 easy overs: Phoenix and San Antonio. I know that they are coming from two unders in a row against the Bobcats and the Thunder, but hey! Take a look to the coring stats and you will find out that the Bobcats have the worst offense of the league with 89.7 ppg and the Thunder are second last with 93.6 ppg. This isn't the case of Denver at all.

The Nuggets have scored 118, 116 and 123 points in their last three games, which was against lowly teams. As they won all these three games, they won't have motives to focus more on defense. Also Carmelo Anthony is coming off some outrageous performances. He had 33 points in the third quarter against Minnesota on Wednesday, tying a 30-year-old NBA record for most points in a quarter. He followed that with 27 points, nine rebounds and six assists in a runaway win over Golden State on Saturday. Over their last 10 games, the Nuggets have averaged more than 110 points per game. These two teams have already faced each other this season and Denver won by 108-105 in a wild game. Take note that even though the game ended with 213 points, Dallas shot 40.6% FG and Denver just 38.6% FG! Denver is 7-1 Over on their last 8 games after scoring 100 or more points in their previous game. I expect a game in which both games won't have problems in scoring more than 100 points and I expect this game also to be entertaining and exciting. Take the over in here.

20* MNF TOY

Philadelphia is in a 35-14 UNDER System that says to Play UNDER on all teams who won a game in their division as an underdog in their last game if they have a winning record in the second half of the season. The Eagles are 6-0 UNDER home vs. losing teams and they are 7-0 UNDER as home favorites of 7.5 points or higher. Cleveland is 7-1 UNDER their last 8 December games and they are 13-6 UNDER their last 19 games overall. The Browns are 6-2 UNDER off an ATS loss and they are 6-1 UNDER after allowing 150 or more yards rushing in their last game.
