Game: San Jose Sharks at Vancouver Canucks Oct 15 2007 10:05PM
Prediction: San Jose Sharks
Reason:
The San Jose Sharks and Vancouver Canucks prepare to head to head for the second time this season. In the first meeting the Sharks showed their superiority, and came away with the 3-1 road win. Look for nothing to change tonight , as San Jose extends upon a 7-3-1 record as visitors in this series. Final notes & Key Trends: The underdog is 5-0 L5 when these teams meet! Play on the Sharks to take a bite out of Canucks (moneyline)

1. 200,000♦ Falcons

2. 100,000♦ Red Sox

1. Falcons- While everyone in the free world jumps all over the Giants in this match up, haven't we learned anything from games like last week's Monday nighter, where Buffalo easily covered against mighty Dallas? Guys, this number screams danger, and I for one, ain't falling for it.
So how do the Falcons keep this game competitive? I'm not saying its going to look good, but with a dose of defense, coupled with some offense against a generous Giants D (allowing 24 ppg), topped with some typical Giants inconsistecy and you've got the recipe for a Falcons cover.
Look guys, I'm well aware of the Falcons troubles on the offensive line, as Gandy is out and they just lost tackle Todd Weiner, but let's not call for the apocalypse, as the Falcons looked decent in back-to-back games before losing to Tennessee last week. They beat a good Texans team 26-16 in their last home game, as Harrington looked a hell of a lot more comfortable in Atlanta.
Speaking of Harrington, we all know he's maddeningly inconsistent, but the fact of the matter remains that he was excellent in his last home game. He went 23 of 29 for 223 yards 2 TDs and 0 picks! I'm not saying he's the next coming, far from it, but against this Giants secondary they'll be more than enough oppurtunities for a pissed-off Falcons squad to redeem themselves after a terrible showing last week.
Bottom line, while I again say it won't be pretty, but in the end, the Falcons show some real moxy in protecting their home field on national television this Monday night. Everyone and everything is seemingly against them, and that's exactly the position you want your underdog to be in... Falcons deliver the payday with a strong effort at home Monday night!
Take the Falcons plus the points over the Giants as your top-rated play of the day.

2. Red Sox- So the Indians drop 7 runs in the 11th inning of Game 2, and all of a sudden I hear the media screaming for a 7 game series?! Hold on sec, but last time I checked, the Red Sox dominated this series, winning 7 of their 9 meetings this season. And because the Indians bullpen finally delivered, now its time to jump off the Red Sox ship... That would be a huge mistake and here's why:
First of all, Jake Westbrook looked terrible in his first career postseason start, getting roughed up for 6 runs on 9 hits over 5 innings. He can say he's going to "be more relaxed" this time around, but the fact the Red Sox tagged him for 5 runs back on July 23rd cannot be ignored. Also, its important to note that Manny Ramirez has killed Westbrook over his career, going 8 for 16 against him.
Second, while Matsuzaka hasn't been great, he's been better over his last 3 starts than Westbrook, going 1-0 with a 4.66 ERA with Boston winning all 3 games. Remember guys, Dice-K went 1-1 with 4.26 ERA in two starts against the Tribe this season, including a real gem July 24th, when he outpitched Sabathia tossing 7 scoreless innings! I know his road numbers have been poor of late, but I firmly believe he'll turn that trend around tonight.
Finally, in a game that will most likely come down to the bullpens, there's no question Boston has the edge there. I know they looked bad in Game 2, but Cleveland's bullpen has been vulnerable and I say the Red Sox give them a taste of their own medicine in this one.
Bottom line, Boston has won 9 of their last 12 games in Cleveland, and they've got the motivation, the edge with Dice-K, and the bullpen keep that trend alive tonight. Look for Boston to bounce back strong in this spot, as Westbrook is major step down from Sabathia and Carmona.
Take the Red Sox behind Matsuzaka over the Indians in Game 3 of the ALCS.

San Jose Sharks vs. Vancouver Canucks (NHL)
Oct 15, 2007 10:05 PM EDT

Play: Total: Over

The Vancouver Canucks look to avenge an opening game loss to the San Jose Sharks. The Sharks were able to hold the Canucks under two goals for the only time all year long. The key was to keep the Sedin twins under wraps. They were able to do it that night but usually Daniel and Henrik play very well against San Jose. The twins have combined for 4 goals and 10 assists in their last four games. Canucks Goaltender Roberto Luongo is probably the best goalie in hockey. However, he hasn't played like it so far this season. He settled down in a home and home with Edmonton but he had a 4.22 GAA in his first three games of the season.
This number is really low and I look for both offenses to have a decent night tonight. The Sedin twins will not be kept off the score sheet again tonight. Take the Over!
