Finally, a Monday night match-up we can all finally look forward to. After struggling to stay awake while watching that pitiful excuse of a game last Monday night, I’ll finally be interested in what Tirico, Kornheiser, and Jaworski will have to say throughout the game.
Indy comes into this game off their “Bye” week and used the time off to get healthy looking to add to its perfect 5-0 record. Jacksonville took Houston out behind the woodshed last week, and got scoring contributions from both sides of the ball. QB Manning and the Colts return to the scene of the crime from last season when the Jags rolled up 300+ yards on the ground and rolled them by a 44-17 final count. That loss will most definitely be fresh in the Colts’ memory, and I foresee them putting their best foot forward here to remind them that the Patriots aren’t the only elite team in this league.
That being said, the Jacksonville Jaguars have played them tough for many years now as HC Jack Del Rio just seems to have the formula for hindering the Colts star studded roster. Jacksonville will look to run the ball down the Colts throat and allow QB Gerrard to comfortably manage the game. Indy will once again put the game decisions in QB Peyton Manning’s hands, and he’ll once again do a fabulous job dissecting the Jags “D”. If Jax decides to stack the box, Manning will cut them up downfield. If the Jags decide to play nickel, he’ll audible to a run. We’ve seen this time and time again with Indianapolis. The offense is simply one of the best ever, and the Jags will have their hands full trying to contain it.
The trend for these two clubs the last couple seasons has seen lower scoring games in Indy, and higher scoring games when the Colts make the trip to Jacksonville. The 'Over' is 7-3 in the Colts last 10 Monday Night games, while the Jags have seen the 'Over' cash 5 of the L/7 times they've been installed a home underdog up to 3 points. We’ll follow suit with the info up above, and look for both clubs combined points to come within the high 40’s to low 50’s.
