Play on Ind/Jax Under at 8:30 ET. Head coach Jack Del Rio was quoted as saying "the Colts like to ring the bell and we don't want them to do it here in Jacksonville." This game has taken on a "playoff atmosphere" for the Jags and as for the Colts, they not only have revenge from LY's 44-17 loss (allowed 375 yards rushing) but they would probably also like people to remember that they, not the Pats, are the defending champs. Although LY's score here was 44-17, the meeting in Indy was just 21-14 and in two meetings during 2005, the teams scored just 57 total points. The Jags had an excellent D last year (No. 2 in ypg and No. 4 in ppg) but it's improved in '07. The pass rush has more speed, the LB corps is improved and the secondary is better with rookie Reggie Nelson (No. 1 pick from Fla) and veteran ball-hawk Sammy Knight. The Jags entered Week 7 allowing just 11.6 ppg, which ranked them No. 2. While last week's home game was a 37-17 rout of the Texans (had lost both times to Houston LY!), the team's first two home games of '07 totaled just 23 and 20 points. The Colts' D has continued the turnaround it made during LY's postseason. The pass D is again strong (ranks 3rd at 172.8 ypg) and that rush D, which allowed 173.0 ypg in '06, allows just 105.4 ypg in '07. Both teams are careful with the ball, as the Colts have a league-low three giveaways and the Jags have just six (Garrard has zero INTs!). This is a "showcase" game for both teams and I see it being tightly-contested. The Under is my 15* Total of the Week.

Indianapolis/Jacksonville 8:30: We realize the well rested and high powered Colts' offense appears to have an advantage vs a Jacksonville secondary that has given up the big play; however, the Jaguars' safeties Nelson and Knight have shown signs of getting a grasp in field awareness within the Jaguars' defensive philosophy and should rise to the occasion here. And Jacksonville's speedy pass rushers and blitz schemes should be disruptive to Indianapolis. On the other hand, we'll look for the Jaguars' QB Garrard to continue to play smart, providing he has help from the productive Jaguars' run game. Keep in mind that Jacksonville has averaged a whopping 159.1 yards per game (5.1 ypc) in 10 divisional meetings against the Colts, including a monster 375 yard gutting last December on this field. We'll look for the #3 rushing offense of Jacksonville to do their thing and slow this game down to their benefit. Jax is 3-1-1 ATS in this series and we'll side with them here.
