10* BCS Bowl GAME OF THE YEAR on LSU -3.5

LSU killed Oklahoma a few years back in the Superdome in New Orleans, LA. There were said to be 80% of fans there that were Tigers’ backers. This will be the case tonight as LSU gets the luxury of home-field advantage in a very loud dome Monday night. Ohio State may be motivated even more to win this game, but they just don’t have the talent to compete with LSU tonight. Ohio State is 0-8 in their last 8 games against SEC opponents. The SEC is clearly the toughest conference in the nation and LSU is this conference’s best team. Les Miles is 11-1 ATS in his last 12 non-conference games as the coach of LSU hitting 92% of the time. When the Tigers get out of conference play they dominate their opponents. The SEC is so stacked that LSU did lose a pair of triple overtime games this season. They won’t be losing to a much slower, less talented, and less experienced Ohio State team tonight. Bet LSU in basically a home game.

Vegas experts tip of the day

Denver played last night at home which will have coach Karl going deeper into his bench and slowing down the tempo some. Suns lost their last at home to New Orleans, giving up 118 points, and before that failed to cover at home versus Seattle. DENVER is 37-22 UNDER as an underdog of 3.5 to 9.5 points over the last 3 seasons. PHOENIX is 27-13 UNDER after failing to cover the spread in 2 or more consecutive games over the last 3 seasons.

Play on: Under

Prediction: Morehead State

Reason: Ai Simulator 3* graded play on Morehead State - AiS shows a 75% probability that MST will Supporting this graded play is a system that has gone 85-50 for 63% ATS over the past 5 seasons. Play on road teams as a dog or pick playing only their 2nd game in 8 days and in a game involving two bad teams with a winning percentage of 20% to 40%. Lose this game by 7 or fewer points. Although a loss, MST, put on a very strong second half surge that cut a 10 point half time deficit to just 3 points. This type of second half does build character and confidence and will help them immeasurably in this game tonight. Take Morehead State.

Title: BCS Championship Smash

Reason:This year's BCS was not a cut and dry situation. The year was full of upsets and rankings were up and down weekly.Ohio State played their last game 51 days from January 7th and defeated the Michigan Wolverines 14-3. The main reason the Buckeyes moved to #1 in the last week were all the losses the other top ranked teams suffered. This will be a game of defense as Ohio State has only allowed single digits to 7 teams and no more than 2 touchdowns to 4 other teams. Their one big upset was when Illinois scored 4 touchdowns to their 3.Although the Tigers are ranked 3rd in defense(Ohio State is #1) their defense has allowed 88 points in their last 3 played. Ohio State has allowed 48 in their last 3 played.Ohio State lost to Hawaii last year in the same BCS Championship-they have a lot riding on this game.

Take the points on the Buckeyes.

Black Magic Sports

5 Unit BCS Championship Game BEST BET on LSU -3.5

LSU is 8-1 ATS in non-conference games over the last 2 seasons. The Tigers completely dominate teams outside of the SEC and they will continue to do so in the National Title game tonight. The Tigers’ best asset is balance, on both sides of the ball. They averaged 221 yards rushing per game and 229 through the air on offense, while yielding just 4.3 yards per play defensively. They can do it all this season. This game is being played in the Superdome in New Orleans, LA. Add in the fact that this game is just another home game for LSU, and you have the winning formula for a National Championship by the Tigers tonight. Cash in with LSU as the favorite.

NCAA Basketball:

3 Unit Sharp Play on SE Missouri State -2.5

Missouri State is 11-5 on the season. Murray State is just 6-7 on the year. This home game for Missouri State is showing some of the best value we have seen all season. Missouri State is 6-0 in home games this year, including a dominant 4-0 ATS. Murray State is 1-6 on the road this season and 1-6 ATS as well. Missouri State has won 7 out of their last 8 games overall. Murray State is 14-29 ATS when playing against a good team (Win Pct. 60% to 80%) since 1997. Missouri State is 9-2 ATS in their last 11 January games. They always heat up this time of year and the same is holding true in 2008. Cash in with SE Missouri State as the favorite.

NBA:

4 Unit NBA Total of the Night on Spurs/Warriors OVER 205

This is a very small total for the Warriors to overcome in a home game. The OVER is 10-5 in the Warriors’ 15 home games this season. The OVER is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings between San Antonio and Golden State. Golden State is scoring 112 points a game at home while giving up over 108 points a game. This is a place that tends to yield more points than the usual NBA game due to the Warriors’ up-tempo style of play. The Spurs will get many easy baskets tonight due to Golden State’s lack of effort on defense. The Over is 5-0 in Warriors last 5 games following a SU loss of more than 10 points. Cash in with the OVER 205 points.

Wisconsin-Milwaukee @ Youngstown State

This is what I wrote about Wisconsin-Milwaukee less than two weeks ago : To say that Wisconsin-Milwaukee is a mess is something of an understatement. A few years back, this team made a run to the Sweet 16, getting Bruce Pearl his gig at Tennessee. Last year, they won nine games. This year, they might not even reach that total. Oklahoma transfer and senior leader Torre Johnson, the team’s leading scorer and rebounder, was kicked off the team last week following an arrest. Sophomore guard Roman Gentry quit the team as well, leaving them perilously short on both talent and depth. Remember, this comes in the aftermath of Avery Smith’s dismissal from the team just prior to the season, another senior leader and the team’s leading returning scorer. The Panthers weren’t a good team even with a complete roster. They were blown off the court in recent road games at Marquette (losing by 35) and at Illinois-Chicago (losing by 18).

Well, the Panthers have gotten better since all the suspensions and dismissals – much better. Wisconsin-Milwaukee has reeled off four consecutive victories, including a road win at Wyoming as 12 point underdogs and a pair of straight up wins as home underdogs against quality foes Wright St and Central Michigan . They beat Detroit on Saturday despite shooting less than 33% from the field. All of a sudden, this is a scrappy, feisty underdog capable of making some noise against weaker foes in Horizon League play. While Youngstown State has started off their conference campaign well, with wins and covers at home against Loyola-Chicago and Illinois-Chicago, tonight’s step up in class makes them an unworthy favorite.

(#505) Take Wisconsin-Milwaukee +3.5

Sport: NHL Hockey
Game: New York Islanders @ Edmonton Oilers - Monday January 7, 2008 9:00 pm
Pick: 1 unit (Free Play) MONEYLINE: Edmonton Oilers -123

This is a great spot for the Oilers as they are 5-1 ATS this season (+7 units) after playing to three or more consecutive overs! And the Islanders have struggled all season on the road, sitting with a 3-7 record away from friendly confines. One of the keys for the Oilers has been the outstanding play of Mathieu Garon, who made 21 saves Saturday and is a league-best 7-0 in shootouts, allowing only two goals on 23 attempts, and I expect him to be sharp again this evening; good value on the OILERS!

Big Al McMordie

Sport: NBA Basketball
Game: San Antonio Spurs @ Golden State Warriors
Pick: 1 unit (Free Play) ATS: San Antonio Spurs 0 (0)

At 10:35 pm, our complimentary selection is on the San Antonio Spurs. These two teams met in December and Golden State came away with a 96-84 victory when the Spurs were banged up. But Manu Ginobili returned yesterday vs. the Clippers, and San Antonio promptly ended its 4-game road losing streak. With revenge from that 12-points loss, look for Gregg Popovich's crew to win in Oakland tonight. Take the Spurs. Good luck, as always...Al McMordie.Al McMordie OWNS THE NCAA FB TITLE GAMES, as he's a perfect 6-0 the last 7 yrs (with no play in USC/Okla). Off a win on Tulsa, Big Al's 9-2 his last 11 Bowl Picks, and is an AWESOME 147-96 since 1992! If you need a Bowl Winner, the man to turn to is Big Al, and he will be 7-0 in Championship Games after Monday night. Get on it.

Monday's BCS Winner!

OHIO STATE

Take the points with Ohio State tonight over Lsu in the BCS Championship.

The Buckeyes face a similar situation as they did last year in having 51 days off before this game. But the difference between this year and last is they aren’t facing a team that presents the biggest problem for them defensively.

Specifically, a spread-option offensive attack.

The Lsu offense does not present anything that Ohio State can't handle defensively.

In fact, Lsu has been playing tight games all season long, and there’s no reason this game won’t follow suit. The Tigers didn’t roll over anyone down the stretch and their defense isn’t as strong as it was in past seasons.

I mean, they allowed Arkansas to run up and down the field on them, at home no less, 34 points to Alabama and 24 points to an Auburn team that didn’t scare anyone offensively. In fact, the Tigers surrendered at least 24 points in six of seven games prior to holding Tennessee to 14 on Dec. 1.

Forget about the myth that SEC teams are vastly superior to every other conference and just by playing anyone outside their conference guarantees them a cakewalk.

In my opinion, Usc deserved to be here more than Lsu did.

But almost by default the Tigers got their chance for the trophy tonight.

Ohio State’s defense can and will make up for last year’s debacle against Florida.

On offense, the Buckeyes will rely heavily on running back Beanie Wells and he will be able to pound it out against the Tigers front.

It would not surprise me if this game came down to a last-possession field goal, and for that reason taking the points is the key.

The Buckeyes enter this game on a 23-8 ATS tear, including 5-2 ATS to finish the season. Ohio State is on further positive ATS runs of 6-2 versus teams with a winning record, 4-1 on artificial turf and 20-8 following a SU win.

Lsu stumbled to a 2-7-1 ATS finish. They are also just 1-5-1 ATS in their last seven against winning teams.

Ohio State has an excellent chance at winning this game outright, but considering the line taking them with the points is the play.

Take the Buckeyes plus the number.
