Duke -36 (1.5 units)

I normally only go with 1 unit plays this early but I had to make this pick a little bigger. Duke is going to have its best team in some time this season. They aren't just talented, they are also deep, something the Blue Devils have lacked in recent years. But this is play against Presbyterian. The Blue Hose (great nickname) are in just their second season as a Division I team and they only won five games a year ago. Duke eats up teams like this early in the season. I see the Blue Devils winning this game by at least 50 points.

Wunderdog

San Francisco at Arizona

The 49ers have gone through a lot of changes recently. The first was the firing of Mike Nolan and the hiring of Mike Singletary who will be looking for his first win. Singletary has made some immediate changes, the most high-profile being the benching of turnover-prone J.T. O'Sullivan. It's a good move as his reads have been slow and his decisions have been poor, resulting in 11 INTs and 11 fumbles, as well as 34 sacks. Shaun Hill will get the start for the Niners and he's put up some decent numbers in his limited play. While he'll likely make fewer mistakes, can he help this offense score more? The bigger question may be - can the Niners keep Arizona from putting up 30+ points on them? The San Francisco defense has allowed 29 points per game this season (34.3 per game over their last three). And, Arizona is averaging 29 per game (34 at home). But, when these teams met earlier this season, the offense of the Cards was held to 23 points (their second lowest total on the season). That was despite the fact the Cardinals had a -5 turnover disadvantage, and nearly a 15 minute time of possession disadvantage. The defense was on the field for over 37 minutes, and even with the offense coughing it up five times, the Cards managed to get in the red-zone just three times, converting once. So which Niners defense will show up here? Will Singletary, with two weeks to prepare, have a plan to slow down Kurt Warner? Over the past three seasons, the Niners are 0-8 ATS vs. good offensive teams (those averaging 24+ ppg). But, Arizona is 0-7 ATS in their last seven home games when instilled as a favorite of 7.5 to 14 points. Over the past two seasons, the Cardinals are 7-0 OVER following a game in which they went UNDER. But, the Niners are 6-0 UNDER since last season in games with a total in this range (42-49).

Handicapper: John Ryan Sports
Sport: NBA Basketball
Game: Oklahoma City Thunder @ Indiana Pacers - Monday November 10, 2008 7:00 pm
Pick: 2 units ATS: Oklahoma City Thunder +11 (-110)

Ai Simulator 3* graded play on Oklahoma City - AiS shows a 72% probability that Oklahoma City will lose this game by 10 or fewer points. Supporting this graded play is a strong system that has produced a record of 85-40 making 41 units since 2002. Play on road dogs that are good defensive teams averaging 41.5-43.5% and is now facing an average defensive team hitting 43.5-45.5% and in a game involving two average rebounding teams with a differential of +/-3 reb/game. Oklahoma City is an up tempo offensive style of team and the Pacers have had a difficult time managing this onslaught in recent seasons. Pacers are just 7-19 ATS (-13.9 Units) versus up-tempo teams averaging 83 or more shots/game over the last 3 seasons. Pacers have covered two straight and this simple fact puts them in a vulnerable role noting they are 0-24 ATS (-16.4 Units) after successfully covering the spread in 2 or more consecutive games over the last 3 seasons. Take Oklahoma City.

Toronto Raptors vs. Boston Celtics
Play: Boston Celtics -8

Take the Champs here in as easy winner. Boston just went to DET and ran it up on the new AI DET pistons. They will do the same thing to TOR tonight. TOR has been playing well but don't have an answer for KG and the boys. The second unit for BOS also has been tearing up everyone in there path. Think they have huge advantage as TOR has no depth. SCORE BOS 96 - TOR 81

Gregg Price

San Francisco 49ers vs. Arizona Cardinals
Play: San Francisco 49ers +9.5

3* 49ers - We aren't going to force anything here. Coach Singletary was embarassed after his coaching debut and has had 2 weeks to prepare for the Cardinals on national tv tonight. The question is can he stop this offense? It's tough to cover against a divisional opponent twice in the same year, and Arizona already beat them in week 1. Very light play on the Dog.
