NFL Betting Preview: Texas at Titans
The Houston Texans and Tennessee Titans are both looking to bounce back after suffering losses in their opening weeks. The two teams will meet at LP Field at 1:00PM ET on Sunday.
Mark Sanchez and the New York Jets embarrassed the Texans last week at home, losing 24-7 and failing to cover the 4.5-point spread. The combined score of 31 fell under the posted total of 45.
The Titans suffered a tough opening night 13-10 loss to the Steelers, although they covered the 6.5-point spread as underdogs. The score fell well under the posted total of 36.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Sports Interaction have made the Titans 7-point home favorites over the Texans. The over/under total has been established at 41 for this matchup.
The last time these two teams hooked up, the Texans edged the Titans 13-12 in Houston on December 14 of last year. But before that, the Titans thumped the Texans 31-12 in Tennessee to easily cover the 4.5-point spread.
The Titans played well enough in Week 1 to earn a victory, but didn’t have enough offensive firepower to edge out the Steelers. Tennessee still has a major lack of offensive playmakers, but they should have no problem running the ball against a leaky Houston run-defense.
The Texans gave up 190 yards on the ground last week to the Jets, while the Titans rushed for 86 against a tough Pittsburgh defense. Running back Chris Johnson and LenDale White should have plenty of running room and Tennessee will dominate this game from the trenches.
We expect Houston to play better in this game after coming out flat in their opener. But we like the Titans to easily cover the spread as the Texans will have a tough time scoring. The over has also covered in 5 of Houston’s last 6 games when playing Tennessee, so we recommend the over 41 in this matchup.
Our NFL Free Picks for this Week 2 matchup are: TENNESSEE TITANS -7 and OVER 41.
