NFL Divisional Round Playoffs Picks & Predictions: Seahawks vs. Falcons
By Anthony Rome
ATLANTA, GA (The Spread) – Will the Seahawks and Falcons light up the scoreboard when the two teams meet in Atlanta today at 1:00PM ET?
NFL Odds: According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Falcons are currently 2.5-point favorites versus the Seahawks while the over/under total is sitting at 45.5 points. Seattle is 12-5 overall and 4-5 on the road, while Atlanta is 13-3 overall and 7-1 at home.
Line Movement: The Falcons opened as 2.5-point favorites and that’s where the line currently sits at most sports books, although some places are offering Atlanta as low as 1 while others have the Seahawks at +3. As for the total, it opened at 46 but has been bet down to 45.5 at most books.
Public Betting: Of the wagers currently placed on this game, 51% of NFL public bettors currently favor the Falcons. This information is subject to change leading up to kickoff, however, so make sure you click on the link provided for the most up-to-date NFL public betting numbers.
NFL Playoff Free Pick: Take the over. According to latest NFL trends, the over is 4-1 in the last five meetings between these two teams and 5-1 in the Seahawks’ last six playoff games. It’s also 4-1 in their last five road games, 4-1 in their last five games following an ATS win and 5-2 in their last seven games overall. On the other side, the over is 3-1-1 in the Falcons’ last five playoff games and 6-2-2 in their last 10 games in January. Atlanta can’t stop the run, which should mean great things for Marshawn Lynch and Seattle’s offense. But unlike in previous years, the Falcons have the ability to strike quickly thanks to Dirk Koetter’s vertical passing attack. Considering Seattle’s defense might wear down after two cross country trips in back to back weeks, points shouldn’t be a problem late in the game either. Take the over.
