NFL Free Pick: Chiefs vs. Broncos Week 2 Picks & Predictions
By Anthony Rome
DENVER, CO (The Spread) – After they were embarrassed by the Titans at home last week the Chiefs will look to avoid another blowout today when they visit the Broncos at 4:25PM ET.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Broncos are 13-point home favorites over the Chiefs, while the over/under total is currently sitting at 50.5 points. Denver opened as 9-point favorites before the number was bet up, while the total opened at 52 before being bet down.
The Chiefs were embarrassed by the Titans last week in a 26-10 loss at home. Alex Smith completed 19-of-35 passes for 202 yards with one touchdown and three interceptions and led the team in rushing, although that’s certainly not a good thing. While Smith rushed for 36 yards on six carries, Jamaal Charles was held to 19 yards on seven carries. Pro Bowl linebacker Derrick Johnson and defensive tackle Mike DeVito were both lost to Achilles injuries.
NFL FREE PICK: Take Denver. According to latest NFL trends, the Chiefs are just 2-6 against the number in their last eight games versus AFC opponents dating back to last year and 1-4 ATS in their last five games versus a team with a winning record. They’re also 1-5 ATS in their last six games in Week 2, 2-7 ATS in their last nine games following a straight up loss and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games after allowing more than 150 yards rushing in their previous game. The Broncos, meanwhile, are 9-2 against the number in their last 11 games versus a team with a losing record, 6-2-1 ATS in their last nine games versus AFC West opponents and 4-1-1 ATS in their last six games in September.
