2014 NFL Jets vs. Packers Week 2 Picks & Predictions
By Anthony Rome

GREEN BAY, WI (The Spread) – Aaron Rodgers and the Packers will look to rebound from their Week 1 loss to the Seahawks when they host the 1-0 Jets at 4:25PM ET.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Packers are 7.5-point home favorites over the Jets while the over/under total is currently sitting at 46.5 points. Green Bay opened as 10-point home favorites before the line was bet down, while the total opened at 45 before being bet up.

Geno Smith threw for 221 yards with one touchdown and one interception on 23-of-28 passing in the Jets’ 19-14 win over the Raiders last week. Chris Ivory was the star offensively for New York as he reeled off 102 yards on 10 carries, which included a 71-yard touchdown run midway through the fourth quarter. Chris Johnson also added 68 yards on 13 carries while newcomer Eric Decker caught five passes for 74 yards.

The Packers, meanwhile, were shellacked 36-16 by the Seahawks in their season opener last Thursday night. Rodgers has had over a week to stew about a 189-yard, one touchdown, one interception performance and answer plenty of questions regarding why he didn’t throw cornerback Richard Sherman’s way once during the loss. Eddie Lacy rushed for only 34 yards in the loss and suffered a concussion, although he’s been cleared to play today versus the Jets.

NFL FREE PICK: Take Green Bay. According to latest NFL trends, the Packers are 5-2 against the spread in their last seven games in Week 2, 20-8 ATS in their last 28 games versus a team with a winning record and 19-8 ATS in their last 27 games after accumulating less than 90 yards rushing in their previous game. On the other side, the Jets are 1-3-1 against the number in their last five road games dating back to last year, 2-5 ATS in their last seven games after accumulating more than 150 yards rushing in their previous game, and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games after allowing less than 150 yards passing in their previous game.
