Week 5 Picks Vikings at Rams
The undefeated Minnesota Vikings look to keep their winning streak alive when they travel to St. Louis to take on the winless Rams at 1:00PM ET on Sunday.
The Vikings improved to 4-0 on the season with their 30-23 victory over the Packers on Monday night. Brett Favre threw for 271 yards and three touchdowns on 24-of-31 passing as Minnesota covered as 3-point home favorites.
The Rams fell to 0-4 after an embarrassing 35-0 loss to the 49ers as 10-poiint road underdogs. Steven Jackson was held to 79 yards on 23 attempts in the defeat.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Sports Interaction have made the Vikings 10-point road favorites over the lowly Rams. The over/under total for this game has been set at 41 points.
Typically when a team is coming off a short week of rest and is a 10-point road favorite, it’s wise to take the home underdog. But when the home underdog is the Rams, it changes things.
St. Louis has been atrocious this year, especially through the air. Minnesota defensive end Jared Allen took over the game on Monday night vs. the Packers and he could do so again on Sunday facing a suspect Ram offensive line.
The Vikings will take away the Rams only offensive weapon in Jackson and limit him on the ground. That will force Kyle Boller to beat them through the air and judging by the way he played last week, it’s a stretch to think he’ll mount a win for the Rams.
Take the Vikings over a bad Rams team, as well as the under. St. Louis might not score again this week.
