NFL Preseason Betting Preview: Patriots at Redskins

Tom Brady and the New England Patriots take their act on the road this week, as they’ll take on the Washington Redskins at 8:00PM ET on CBS Friday night.

Bet Patriots at Redskins

The Patriots and Redskins spilt their first two preseason games, with New England winning on the road in Philadelphia and Washington beating the defending champion Steelers last week at home.

The last time these two teams met was in October of 2007, when the heavily favored Patriots waxed the Redskins 52-7 at Foxboro. Washington did beat New England at home in September 2003, 20-17.

Oddsmakers from online sports book Sports Interaction have made the Patriots 3.5-point road favorites Friday night over the Redskins. The over/under total for this game has been set at 37.5.

The trends favor the Patriots and under in this matchup, as New England is 19-8 against the spread vs. the NFC East and Washington is 12-2 under at home in the last two weeks of preseason.

When handicapping this game, it’s important to remember that the starters on both teams will likely play the entire first half. While Washington has an improving defense, Brady and the Patriots’ offense looks like a machine again and therefore, we like New England at –3.5.

As long as Bill Belichick keeps his starters in for most of the first half, the Patriots should build a lead and keep it throughout the game.

NFL Preseason Week 3: Patriots at Redskins Odds & Over/Under Totals:

New England Patriots –3.5 Over 37.5
Washington Redskins +3.5 Under 37.5
