Scott Spreitzer
Game: Pittsburgh Steelers at Cleveland Browns
Sep 9 2007 1:00PM
Prediction: Pittsburgh Steelers
Reason: I'm laying the points with the Steelers on Sunday. One angle I expect to play out again is the rough record by divisional home dogs in week one. Since 2000 these teams are 2-7 SU (3-6 ATS). They were 0-2 last season when both home pups got shutout. The bottom line as far as the matchups are concerned is that Pittsburgh is just too physical and too well groomed for the youthful Browns. The Steelers also have a bit of an element of surprise. The new coaching staff has designed a new-look offense for Ben Roethlisberger and company and kept it under wraps in preseason play. So, the Browns don't have game film on the offense they'll be lining up against. According to contacts, they'll still run many of the same running plays, but will be lined up in new formations before the snap. Add in Pittsburgh's big-time advantage in the trenches on both sides of the ball and I believe we have a beatdown on our hands. The Steelers get off to a quick start and we'll lay the points. Thanks! GL! Scott.

Ron Raymond’s Week 11 CFL Picks

B.C. 50.5 vs. Montreal PK
Pick: B.C. PK
Ron’s Comment: It took the Lions the 1st quarter to figure out the Alouettes can’t stop the run and once Joe Smith got into a groove, it was lights out. I’m sure the Alouettes have practice on stopping the run this week in practice, so look for the Lions to run more play action pass this weekend. Montreal is not in the same league as the Lions who haven’t done well SU in Montreal, but own an 80% winning percentage against the line. Look for the Lions to be a -3.0 point favorite by kickoff.
ATSDatabase Tip: When BRITISH COLUMBIA played as Road Team- Vs MONTREAL; The Lions are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 road games.

Forecast: B.C.29 Montreal 24

Saskatchewan 51.0 vs. Winnipeg -3.0
Pick: UNDER 51.0 (5* BEST BET)
Ron’s Comment: No doubt the Saskatchewan Roughriders and Winnipeg Blue Bombers played the best entertaining game of the week and look for the same thrills this Saturday. I was very impress with Kevin Glenn’s ability to spread the ball around to different receivers and the Blue Bombers defense did a respectable job in containing the Roughriders offense. In fact, the Riders and Bombers must have changed lead about 6 times during their game, but QB Kerry Joseph was the difference in the end. The game shifts back to Winnipeg and you never know how the wind will play a factor in the kicking game and that’s why I’m going to go under the 51.0 point total this Saturday. Plus, I’m a law of average type handicapper and I’m looking for the total to go the other way this weekend.
ATSDatabase Tip: When ANY CFL Team played as a Road team -During the month of September -Before a division game -Playing on Sunday - Coming off a game scored 31 points or more - Allowed scored 27 points or less against - Coming off a Home win as a Favorite; The UNDER is 11-3-0 for the Road Team in this spot.

Forecast: Saskatchewan 27 Winnipeg 22

..more later

Oakland -2.5 over Detroit
The toilet bowl teams of the league last year square off this afternoon in what can only be upsides for both teams. The Raiders will start McCown at QB, but Culpepper could step in at anytime. Detroit has a ton of play makers, but will be going up against the number one secondary in the league last year and to make matters worst Kevin Jones is out. The Raiders will be able to sit back a little more and take Kitna off his game plan. Oakland probably lost 4 games last year just on penalties. This season they have a new coach and will be looking to get some more offensive production. Take the Raiders.

NFL - Tennessee @ Jacksonville 1:00 PM EST
Play On: 3* Jacksonville -6.5

Jacksonville is 5-1 ATS last 3 years when playing in September. Last year Tennessee allowed an average of 25 points per game overall. Jacksonville averaged 26.5 points per game at home last year while allowing only 11 points per game at home last season. Jacksonville is 2-0 SU and ATS at home vs Tennessee last 3 years. Tennessee is 2-8 ATS in September vs a division opponent with revenge. Jacksonville is 8-0 ATS in first game of the season. We'll play Jacksonville for 3 units today! Thanks and good luck, Rocky

Buffalo/Denver OVER 37-Jay Cutler the Broncos QB is going to be allowed to step up and look for big plays down field here this week , even though he is on the road. HC Shanahan really likes this kid, and trusts his ability to break a big play, against a host Buffalo Bills defense that has alot of young inexperienced players in their lineup. Cutler threw for 1,001 yards and nine touchdowns after taking over for Jake Plummer last season and has seen all 5 of his career starts , see both his own team and their opponents both scoring 20 points or more in all those tilts , which would easily eclipse todays total. Having the explosive RB tandem of Tatem Bell and Travis Henry in the backfield will also help keep the pressure off Cutler. On the other side of the ball the Bills JP Losman has to reciprocate with some offensive fire works of his own against a vulnerable (over rated) Denver D and secondary, or be blown out. I expect this tilt to easily go Over the Total. Final notes & Trends: BUFFALO is 13-4 Over in their L/17 home games against AFC West division opponents ,with the average combined score ringing in at 45.6 PPG. Play OVER
