Broncos at Chargers Spread Odds, Trends & Injuries

The Monday night matchup features a battle of AFC West rivals as the San Diego Chargers host the Denver Broncos at Qualcomm Stadium tonight at 8:35PM ET.

Bet NFL Week 6

The Broncos improved to 5-0 on the year after beating the Patriots 20-17 in overtime in Week 5. Kyle Orton threw for 330 yards with two touchdowns and an interception for Denver, while Brandon Marshall hauled in eight passes for 64 yards and a touchdown. With the win, the Broncos covered as 3-point underdogs.

The Chargers were off last week, but suffered a 38-28 loss to the Steelers in Week 4. Antonio Gates hauled in nine passes for 124 yards and two touchdowns, as San Diego failed to cover as 5.5-point underdogs.

Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com have made the Chargers 3.5-point favorites over the Broncos on Monday night. The over/under total for this game has been set at 44.

Despite being undefeated, the Broncos find themselves as underdogs week after week and bettors are cashing in. Orton and the Denver offense is playing better than anyone expected and the Bronco defense has almost been lights out.

San Diego can attribute its lackluster start to its defense and a non-existent running game. The Chargers haven’t done a great job limiting the big plays and it has killed them in the early going.

The Chargers won’t find what ails their running game tonight against a stingy run-defense for the Broncos. While San Diego is always tough to beat at home, the Broncos are playing so well right now that it’s hard to go against them. Despite popular belief, this is one of the better teams in the league and the offense continues to mature under rookie head coach Josh McDaniels.

San Diego’s defense is having a tough time generating pressure and Denver has one of the better offensive lines in the league. If Orton has time to throw and rookie Knowshon Moreno can give the Broncos a balanced attack, the Broncos should win outright.

Our NFL Week 6 Free Pick for this matchup is: DENVER BRONCOS +3.5 and UNDER 44.
