Lions at Packers Spread Odds, Trends & Injuries

NFC North division rivals hook up at Lambeau Field when the Green Bay Packers host the Detroit Lions at 1:00PM ET on Sunday.

Bet NFL Week 6

The Lions dropped to 1-4 on the year with a 28-20 loss to the Steelers in Week 5. Daunte Culpepper threw for 282 yards with a touchdown and an interception, while Dennis Northcutt caught five passes for 70 yards and a TD. Despite the loss, Detroit covered the spread as 11-point underdogs.

The Packers are coming off a bye, but suffered a 30-23 loss to the Vikings on Monday Night Football in Week 4. Aaron Rodgers went 26-of-37 for 384 yards with touchdowns and an interception in the loss as Green Bay failed to cover the 3-point spread as favorites.

Oddsmakers from online sports book Sports Interaction have made the Packers 14-point home favorites over the Lions on Sunday. The over/under total for this game has been set at 48 points.

The Packers hope that they solved their issues along the offensive line by re-signing former right tackle Mark Tauscher. Green Bay’s O-line has been decimated by injuries and inconsistent play and the Packers’ offense has suffered because of it.

Thankfully for the them, the Lions don’t pose much of a threat in the pass-rush department. Rodgers should have enough time to pick a bad Detroit defense apart and find receivers Donald Driver and Greg Jennings on a consistent passes.

Matthew Stafford is expected to miss his second consecutive game and even although Culpepper played surprisingly well last week, it’s highly unlikely that he puts together back-to-back good performances.

Punt the points and take the heavy favorites in what should be a blow out.

Our NFL Week 6 Free Pick for this matchup is: GREEN BAY PACKERS -14 and OVER 48.
