Eagles at Redskins Spread Odds, Trends & Injuries
The Monday Night Football matchup features two NFC East Division rivals when the Washington Redskins host the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Eagles suffered a humiliating defeat in Week 7 when they lost to the Raiders, 13-9 as 14.5-point favorites. Donovan McNabb threw for 269 yards, but was sacked six times in the loss. Oakland held Brian Westbrook to only 50 yards on six carries.
The Redskins also went down in Week 7, losing 14-6 at home to the Chiefs as 6.5-point favorites. Jason Campbell threw for only 89 yards before being replaced and Clinton Portis rushed for 109 yards on 15 carries.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Sports Interaction have made the Eagles 8-point favorites over the Redskins on Monday night. The over/under total for this game has been set at 37 points.
The Redskins are an awful football team, but the question is whether or not they can get up for a divisional opponent at home on Monday night. The short answer should be “yes,” but things haven’t exactly gone Washington’s way at all this season.
The key for the Eagles is having a healthy Jason Peters back in the lineup. Part of the reason Philadelphia lost last week was because McNabb spent more time on his back then he did on his feet. Peters is expected to play tonight, however, which certainly helps the Eagles dramatically.
Staying on the injury front, Albert Haynesworth is a game time decision for the Redskins. He has largely been a free agent bust for the Redskins and if he can’t go, the Eagles might be able to effectively run the football.
As much as we like a home dog on Monday night, we can’t see the Redskins doing anything and actually think this is a decent price for the Eagles. The only reason this game isn’t 10 or 10.5 points is because Philadelphia lost last week in Oakland. We think the Eagles will bounce back and won’t get much fight from the Skins.
