Oddsmakers have released the odds for the 2009 Heisman Trophy Award, with Texas quarterback Colt McCoy and Oklahoma signal caller Sam Bradford opening as the early favorites.
Bet on the 2009 Heisman Trophy
Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL have made McCoy and Bradford 2.5/1 favorites to win the 2009 Heisman Trophy Award – and for good reason.
Both McCoy and Bradford were finalists to win the 2008 Heisman Trophy. Bradford, a redshirt sophomore at the time, became the fifth Oklahoma player to win the Heisman, beating out runner up Tim Tebow (Florida) and McCoy, who finished third.
McCoy finished with a 173.75 QB rating last year after throwing for 3,859 yards and 34 touchdowns. Bradford posted a 180.84 QB rating by passing for 4,720 yards and 50 touchdowns and considering both of these quarterbacks play in a weak Big 12 conference (at least defensively), they could easily match those numbers.
Some other players to keep an eye on next year are Ohio State’s sensational sophomore quarterback Terrelle Pryor (7.5/1), West Virginia’s explosive running back Noel Devine (35/1) and Ole’ Miss quarterback Jevan Snead (15/1), who is expected to lead an underrated Rebels team to big things in ’09.
Another sleeper could be Oklahoma State running back Jacquizz Rodgers, who is a slasher and who has had great success against the likes of big-time defenses like USC’s. Penn State quarterback Daryll Clark is another player to keep an eye on after he led the Nittany Lions to the Rose Bowl last season.
