Thursday , I went to a surgical center, to fix the tendons in my left arm. They set me down in a chair, stuck in the IV, ask me numerous questions, and then rolled me in to surgery, everything seemed to be going ok, they put me on this table and all I remember was that someone to the left was positioning my arm, and I looked right and saw someone injecting the stuff that puts you to sleep. I was out. The next thing I know, I felt this sensation like I was drowning. My body wasn't reacting, but I could realize and feel this sensation. It happened again, only stronger the second time. The next thing I knew, I was looking at a nurse wiping the blood of my nose, and my throat and lungs felt like a got hit by a mack truck. The nurse was helping me get my clothes on, and I am still like going "what the hell is going on!" I looked at my left arm and was thinking damn! they didn't even put a sling or cast on it, and then I was thinking sh*t!, they did the wrong arm! After checking my right arm out, I realized that something must have went very wrong. The nurse wheeled me out to the recovery room, and I have this depressed feeling, like what the hell just happened. No one said anything. Finally, my wife said the anastesiologist, I don't think I spelled that right, had come out and told her I stopped breathing twice and that the doctor refused to do the operation. We waited for the doctor to come and explain this, but he never showed. After about two hours of waiting, I told my wife to get me out of here. This was last Thursday, and I still haven't heard from the doctor. I have been spitting up blood and blowing it out my nose for three days. It finally has quit. (Monday) I haven't been sleeping well, because I think if I fall asleep, that I'll stop breathing. Needless to say, I wasn't going to put out any plays feeling like this. I feel like I am just about recovered from this, Be carefull of what happens here, because I almost stayed here..permanently!

I would go to the hospital brother asap. Sounds like you might of had some reaction to the drugs they administered to sedate you.

Could be serious issues with your liver or any number of things. I would high tail it to the nearest emergency room pronto.

Let us know how you make out

I don't know what happened, but I am starting to feel better, it was just a bad experience. The doctor's assistant said that I have to have the operation in a hospital next time. So now they told me to get another doctor to make sure I am surgically certified. That will be at least two weeks before I can see a doctor for that.

My wife was surprised that they did not check that in the fisrt place. I had a bunch of paper work that was not filled out by a doctor when I went in, so it was like someone dropped the ball on that, and it almost cost me my life.

Hi Vegas, I am glad to hear that you are ok. I see by your summary that you are 52, still very young. It sounds as if you had a reaction to the anesthesia or some alergic reaction to something that they gave you. You should find out what they gave you and be tested for those. I suggest going to your primary Dr. and starting their. Good luck and stay on the road to recovery.

Do you know if you were intubated for this procedure? Sometimes endotracheal tubes are inserted into your airway when you are sedated. It is possible they created a small laceration in your airway. Does your throat hurt? My guess is that you had a reaction to the anesthesia, causing your breathing to stop. Obviously, the anesthesia is out of your system now. I would give your doctor an ass reamin for his lack of information. Sorry you had to go through this.

I still would go to the hospital man and not mess with that other clinic anymore. Even if you are feeling better there still could be something on your insides that you may not be aware of.

After that I would look at consulting an attorney about this. It looks like where ever you went really dropped the ball on some procedural things.

I picked up the records yesterday, and from what I can read of doctors hand writing, I guess they did stick tubes in my nose and must have jammed it down my throat. It looks like I'll be out another 2 or 3 months, waiting on the state to fix my arm. Thanks for the thoughts, all of you...

Hi Vegas, Glad you are doing better. Here is some food for thought. If you are having this done thru the state you might want to call 2 or 3 Workers Compensation attorneys and ask who they go thru or use as a doctor for an elbow surgery. The reason that I would call 2 or 3 is to see if a doctors name comes up from different attornyes. Also you want to ask if the doctor is a hand and elbow specialist. Having a doctor that is a hand and elbow specialist will be better for you. Some of the better Work Comp attorneys do work with some very good doctors, then you just need to find out if they accept your insurance. Good luck.

Vegas

Glad to hear you're feeling better but I would heed Cash/Blade's advice. I would also definitely retain a lawyer. There is no reason whatsoever that a certified doctor would not contact you immediately, let alone 3 days after the botched procedure. He probably got his license in poker game. Get well, feel better and then look at filing those papers against him. ANY attorney will take that case just based on the facts you wrote above....plain and simple.

Take care brother
