I'm recommending a play on Houston minus the points. Houston is 11-2 and 6-3 ATS as Kelvin Sampson, as usual, is doing a great job of blending in several newcomers to this year's squad following a 21-11 season in 2016-17. The Cougars come off two road wins and covers at Providence and South Florida and they're shooting at a .482 clip overall and a whopping 40.8 percent from 3-point distance. It's even better at home where the Cougars are hitting 51.3 percent of their 3-point attempts. Don't underestimate the Houston defense either, as it's allowing only 66.2 points per game and a .392 field goal percentage. Meanwhile, Temple is a notoriously bad shooting team although its .448 percentage is slightly better than last season's 42.2. The Owls continue to be money burners with an 0-7-1 ATS record their last eight games and losing outright to Tulane as a 10-point favorite on Thursday. Temple is 3-8-1 ATS its last 12 conference games dating to last season and 4-9-1 ATS their last 14 road games. I'm recommending a play on Houston minus the points on Saturday. Thanks & GL! Scott "The Bulldog" Rickenbach CBB Game #519 Saturday Free Pick OVER the total in North Carolina Tar Heels vs Wake Forest Demon Deacons - Both of those teams are shooting the ball very well this season as they each hit 48% from the field and 39% from three point land. Both are also having some struggles defending the perimeter on defense as the Demon Deacons are allowing 40% on threes and the Tar Heels are allowing 37.4% from beyond the arc. This is the first home game for North Carolina since their shocking upset loss to Wofford. In other words, they are sure to push the pace in this one and be very aggressive on offense. Wake Forest will have no choice but to follow suit and I expect a big performance from the Demon Deacons after a rare stagnant offensive performance in their most recent game. Like UNC, Wake Forest couldn't wait to get back on the floor and they'll be aggressive in this one as well in terms of creating offense after being held to just 60 points versus Tennessee. The Demon Deacons are 8-2 to the over as road dogs in a range of 15.5 to 18 points. North Carolina is 4-0 to the over in home games this season. Also, the Tar Heels are 18-11 to the over as a home fave in a range of 15.5 to 18 points. UNC is a fantastic 10-2 to the over when playing with 5 or 6 days of rest between games. *3 Star Free Pick* The Penn State Nittany Lions take on the Washington Huskies here. I think Penn State is the more complete team. Penn State lost two games this year. They lost by a point in Columbus when the Buckeyes pulled off a miracle comeback. They lost the following week by 3 points to a good Michigan State team in a terrible situational spot.
The Pac 12 is a weaker conference than the Big Ten, and Penn State played a much tougher schedule than Washington. Penn State's schedule ranks in the top 25 in strength of schedule according to almost every rank of schedule strength. Washington's schedule strength ranks outside the top 50 on most.
I don't like going against Chris Petersen, but James Franklin has been very good as well. Franklin's teams are 47-34 ATS in the regular season and 4-2 ATS in bowl games.
Penn State's receivers are excellent at creating big plays. Barkley is obviously an amazing running back.
Penn State has more talent and I think they win and cover here.

I think we're getting great value on the Ottawa Senators as a home dog when they host the Boston Bruins Saturday night.
Boston had won five straight before taking a 4-3 shootout loss at Washington on Thursday. The Bruins could find it tough to muster the energy to bounce back on the road here with the new years celebrations just around the corner.
The Sens snapped a four-game skid with a 5-4 win against Columbus last night. Sure, the Sens will play on no rest, but they don't have to travel with both games taking place home at Canadian Tire Centre and it's not a great spot for the Bruins either playing their third game in four nights.
The Sens have won six of the last eight meetings when holding home ice advantage, and I think they'll close out the calendar year in style with back-to-back triumphs in front of the home fans.
