Quinn is in?

Despite a reportedly sub-par performance thus far in Browns camp, head coach Romeo Crennel recently said that Brady Quinn will take the majority of snaps in Thursday’s preseason game against the New York Jets.

"When we take Derek Anderson out, we'll put Brady in, maybe a half," Crennel told the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

The former Notre Dame star will no doubt be hoping to use the opportunity to impress coaches and fans, but he won’t have a lot of help. Most of the offensive starters will likely be on the sidelines while Quinn is running the offense so he’ll have to make due with Travis Wilson, Syndric Steptoe and Efrem Hill as his primary targets.

Cards’ receivers to sit out

After a brutal training camp in the hot Arizona sun, the East Valley Tribune is reporting that the Arizona Cardinals will be without the services of two talented receivers for their preseason opener Thursday night. Anquan Boldin and Early Doucet are both suffering from pulled hamstrings that will keep them on the sideline this week.

Boldin, veteran starter, is probably healthy enough to play but because the injury has kept him from practicing, coach Ken Whisenhunt doesn’t want to play him Thursday. Doucet was the Cardinals’ third-round draft pick in this year’s draft and although he was expected to play behind Larry Fitzgerald and Steve Breaston in the depth chart, the LSU product has impressed coaches in camp.

Boller to start for Ravens

According to the Baltimore Sun, Baltimore’s new coach John Harbaugh has announced that Kyle Boller will be the Ravens' No. 1 quarterback for Thurday’s game in New England. All the criticism Boller received for his poor play last season has apparently not influenced Harbaugh's decision.

There was a lot of hype surrounding the Ravens’ young quarterbacks Troy Smith and Joe Flacco, but Harbaugh said Boller got the nod because of his NFL experience and his consistency through training camp. Boller will play most of the first half before turning it over to Smith and Flacco, who will split the duties in the second half.
