Chuck Franklin

2000♦ FLORIDA
Auburn is completely outmatched in this game, and there is no way they are getting even close to a cover. Yes, I know their recent history of playing Florida tough, as the only team to beat the Gators last year, but this is not the same Tigers team. Don’t forget that Auburn is only 2-2 straight up and 1-3 ATS this season, and haven’t seen an offense that even comes close to Florida’s. The Gators dominate in the swamp, and have gone 11-5-1 ATS in their last 17 home games. The Tigers have covered only four of their last 13 games, and are only 1-4 ATS in their last five meetings with the Gators in Florida. I expect to see Gators QB Tim Tebow light it up in front of the home fans and totally exploit Auburn’s weakened defense.

2000♦ USC
This Huskies team does have some talent, but are not up to par with the best team in the nation. Especially not after losing to Ohio State and UCLA in the last two weeks. Washington has got to be a bit deflated, not to mention fatigued, and will have a tough time getting up for this game. The Trojans will be rough on Washington’s red shirt freshman QB Jake Locker, who has already proven he can be forced into making mistakes when facing a smothering defense. Southern Cal is on a 7-2 ATS run, while the Huskies are only 4-10 ATS as home dogs. All the more reason to side with the Trojans in this match-up, as they will get the blowout victory tonight in Washington.

1500♦ LSU
LSU has won 15 in a row over Tulane. The Tigers have outscored their first four opponents this season by a combined 165-23. That included 76-23 combined over Virginia Tech and South Carolina. This will be an absolute blowout and possibly a shutout. Tulane will have no chance against the #1 defense in the country. Tulane has been outscored by 91 points in the last three meetings between these two teams. LSU is 12-2-1 the last 15 games when listed as the road favorite, while the Green Wave are 1-9-1 ATS the last 11 games a the home underdog.

1500♦ MICHIGAN
After a rocky start to their 2007 season, the Wolverines have settled in and should easily handle this less than impressive Northwestern Wildcats team. Michigan has covered three of the last four meetings with Northwestern, and are 8-3 in their last 11 road games. The Wolverines have won and covered their last two games, while the Wildcats have failed to get an ATS win this year. Northwestern doesn’t have the speed or athleticism to compete with this recharged Michigan team, who have outscored their last two opponents by a margin of 52-9. Side with the Wolverines in this one.

Saturday's Late Plays...

40 Dime -

CLEMSON

15 Dime -

RUTGERS

5 Dime -

VIRGINIA

I will be back by Noon eastern with my analysis.

Saturday's Early Plays...

20 Dime –

VIRGINIA TECH
Lay the big number with Virginia Tech today when they host North Carolina.
The Tarheels had major problems last week against South Florida’s speedy defense, and it’s going to be more of the same today.
Carolina redshirt freshman quarterback T. J. Yates threw four interceptions last week and that’s precisely what the Hokies thrive on...turnovers. In fact, Va Tech makes it a point to try and get scores from their defense and special teams, and that’s exactly what they got in their 44-3 rout of William & Mary last week.
Carolina doesn’t have a running game to speak of, so Yates is going to be under the gun today.
The Tarheels have lost by 17 or more in eight of their last nine road defeats. They will be going against a fresh Hokies squad as coach Frank Beamer has played lots of reserves over the last two weeks.
This is just too much of a pressure spot for Carolina’s Yates to succeed, so I’m looking for multiple picks by the Hokies defense and short fields to work with for their offense.
Lay the big number as Virginia Tech cruises to the home win and cover.

5 Dime –

UCONN
Let’s back another big home chalk this afternoon in the Huskies of UConn.
UConn has been bolstered on offense by Juco quarterback transfer Tyler Lorenzen. The Huskies are averaging 231 ypg passing this year compared to just 140 ypg last year.
They have a balanced attack on offense with nine different players having scored TDs so far.
But the biggest difference for UConn this season has been on defense. Coach Randy Edsall has eight players on defense who are playing in their fourth or fifth seasons. They allow just 11 ppg and rank No. 12 in total defense. The aggressive UConn front seven has 36 tackles for loss and 12 sacks.
Akron is coming off an emotional rally at home against their MAC rival Kent last week. They could be in a flat spot today as they travel for a non-conference game. In fact, the Zips are a woeful 0-9 SU and 1-3-1 ATS after playing the Golden Flashes.
The Zips were missing four starters due to injury by the end of that game against Kent and now they have to hit the road for the fourth time in five weeks.
Akron doesn’t have any passing game to speak of that they can rely on once they fall behind here today.
Look for UConn to grind it out on the ground and pull away in the second half.
Take UConn minus the points at home for the win and cover over Akron.

Mr A's
Saturday, September 29th, 2007, 12:00 p.m. est.

(2) L-S-U Tigers (4-0) at Tulane Green Wave (1-2)
Louisiana Superdome - New Orleans, Louisiana

Home Record: LSU 3-0; Tulane 1-2
Away Record: LSU 3-0; Tulane 1-2

The second-ranked LSU Tigers beat-up their first three opponents and won't be merciful when they beat Tulane in the Superdome for their 16 straight victory over the Green Wave. Tulane doesn't have the talent to compete with the Tigers.

Prediction: LSU 49, Tulane 10
