S. Florida at W. Virginia
Pick: S. Florida +7.5

Analysis: It's not a fluke that South Florida has defeated West Virginia in each of the last two years. No team has defended better against West Virginia's spread offense than South Florida. The keys for South Florida's defense are quickness, speed and the brains of defensive coordinator Wally Burnham. He's a guru when it comes to game-planning against the type of run-oriented option attack West Virginia uses. Unlike West Virginia quarterback Pat White, who has just two 200-yard throwing games during the past two seasons, South Florida quarterback Matt Grothe can run and pass. He's one of the better quarterbacks in the country and can hurt a West Virginia defense that has linebacker injuries. West Virginia coach Bill Stewart isn't a strong enough coach to have his team laying this high of a number. Since Stewart replaced Rich Rodriguez, the Mountaineers have dropped from 297 yards rushing per game to 224 and their passing yards have shrunk from 159 per game to 135.

50 DIME BIG EAST GAME OF THE YEAR ---- WEST VIRGINIA (Note: Most books have West Virginia at -7 right now. If your book has it as -7 1/2, buy the 1/2 point so you don't get beat by the hook. If your book is at -7, you may want to buy it down to -6 1/2 to ensure the win should this game be decided by a TD.)

TAKE: WEST VIRGINIA MINUS THE POINTS

HOOPS

NBA: Oklahoma City +11

Well, let's roll with two big dogs here today. I like Oklahoma City for several reasons. First of all, remember, this team has new coaching and has responded well. Heck, they have covered 4 straight basketball games. Heck, here is what they have done over the past four games since the coaching change was named:

They covered @ Orlando as 13 point dogs yesterday staying inside the number the whole game.
They covered @ Charlotte with the 8.5 number losing by 6.
They beat Memphis Outright on the road 7.5 chalk.
They covered the +2.5 laid on them at home when they faced the Twolves.

The Heat are a solid team that come off a great road trip which capped them off winning at Utah, GS and Phoenix. I think the 11 points are significant here as OKC is still under the radar despite their new coaching. Let's hit them up here for a SU loss, but a loss within single digits as only 36% are backing them.

College Hoops:

Western Carolina +11: First of all, these two teams have yet to meet recetly. Hence, these two teams are very unfamilar with each other. Tack on the fact that Western Carolina comes off a nice win against Northern Illinois and covered against UConn, does show that this team has bite. Kent State is one of the biggest public plays today and I understand they come off a loss to Sana Clara but by no means should they favored by this much today. Heck, this Western Carolina team played a similar team in San Diego State and nearly won that agme outright losing by 1 point in a game they were dogged by 10 points. Look, Kent State is a good team, but by no means are they that dynamic to win this game in a blowout against a team they are completely unfamiliar with. Don't get me wrong, I do think Kent State wins this game, but I actually have Western Carolina as a 38% chance of winning this game outright and tack on the fact that they have the 11 points, I have them as a 61% chance of cover and will gladly take it and roll according to those numbers today.

UGA +8.5: Look, there are two things here. First of all, UGA is not all that bad and second of all Illinois is not all that good. I know that UGA lost to Western Kentucky on the road by a few points, but that team had defeated the likes of Southern Illinois, top 3 ranked Louisville and UGA all at home which shows you their caliber of players. UGA with Woodberry and an athletic front court can hang tough here and note that Illinois really isn't stirking the fear into anybody currently. No one really seems to be giving UGA any love here but the line has steadily been going down. UGA has yet to lose back to back games all year and think about this, considering UGA only lost by 4 to this Western Ketnucky team, the Hilltoppers could very well be a ranked team over the next few weeks - so in reality, they lost by four to a ranked team. On top of this, do you know what the total in this game is? It's not very high. This game is on neutral footing and although Illinois has an impressive team, by no means, should they be favored over this margin of UGA especially coming off a straight up loss. I think Illinois is going to get shocked by UGA's athleticism early and this will likely result in another 4 point loss for UGA. Heck, this UGA team is the reigning SEC Champs so they by no means are intimidated beating the likes of Ole Miss and others to win the SEC Championship to become the worst conference team in history to go to the NCAA Tournament. UGA hangs tough here in a low-scoring game.

Jacksonville State +3.5: Let me tell you something about Jacksonville State, they are good. This is the same team that beat NorST by 19 on the road, this team is ranked 45in the country and has also defeated the likes of UMASS on the road with its veteran squad, currently sits at 5-1, beat an underrated VMI team easily by a score of 95-67 and beat Georgia State at their place in overtime and not to mention they covered easily by double-digits at South Carolina. Bottom line here is that Jacksonville State is a veteran team, that has played great basketball and this is a game they win outright. They also have revenge from last year's loss to Tennessee Tech in which they lost to in overtime and Jacksonville State from the A-Sun is the better team here and they win this baby likely outright on the road and exact their revenge from last year.
