8:00:00 PM -5,BRADLEY BRAVES
-vs-Illinois Chicago Flames
Game #727 - 1* (regular play) Bradley Braves (-) @ Illinois-Chicago @ 8 ET - A key in early season college hoops handicapping is continuity in the program as well as solid backcourt play. In this case we have both factors working in our favor. Similar to our winner last night with Butler over an embattled Ball State program we see similar circumstances in this match-up tonight. Bradley is a quality program from one of the top-rated mid-major conferences in the country. The Missouri Valley conference continues to impress with each passing season. Among the mid-majors, the Horizon League has not kept pace with the Missouri Valley and Illinois-Chicago is a struggling program. The Flames have dealt with significant coaching issues, including the assistants, which has caused tension in the program. Additionally, the Flames lost their two best players from last season. Othyus Jeffers transferred to another school due to problems at home. Also, TJ Gray passed up on his final year of eligibility. Illinois-Chicago looks to be too dependent on their perimeter players for producing offense and that's not going to cut it against Bradley. The Braves have one of the top backcourts among all the mid-majors and that serves to equalize the only strength the Flames may have. Daniel Ruffin and Jeremy Crouch are a very dangerous duo in the backcourt. Ruffin is a candidate for the top point guard in the nation while Crouch nailed 83 of 166 three pointers last season! The Braves also have some very intriguing talent in the frontcourt. They've added some key pieces including 7-footer David Collins who could be a force in the paint. As for laying the points on the road here we also like the fact that the Braves have solid depth and this team is hungry to make a statement in their first game of the season. They want to notch a big win on the road and they will take advantage of an unprepared foe to do just that! Play Bradley minus the points as a regular selection.
