South Florida vs. Rutgers College Football Picks & Odds

Two teams still hoping to compete for the Big East title meet on Thursday when Rutgers hosts No. 23 South Florida at 7:30PM ET from Rutgers Stadium.

Bet South Florida at Rutgers

South Florida is 6-2 on the season and 3-3 against the spread. The Bulls ended a two-game losing streak last week with a 30-19 win over West Virginia. South Florida has won three road games this year, including wins at Syracuse and Florida State.

Rutgers has won three straight over the Bulls and are also 6-2 on the season and 3-5 against the spread. The Knights have won two straight games, but like South Florida, have been beaten by Cincinnati and Pittsburgh this season. Both of Rutgers losses have come at home.

Oddsmakers from online sports book SPORTSBETTING.com have made South Florida 1-point road favorites over Rutgers on Thursday night. The over/under total for this game has been established at 45.5.

South Florida has the point spread odds in its favor, but Thursday’s matchup is pretty even. Both teams are posting about 30 points per-game on offense and giving up 17 points per-game on defense. The determining factor in this game could be Rutgers success against the Bulls.

The last meeting in Rutgers Stadium was a 30-27 win for the Knights over the then second-ranked Bulls. The Knights are defensively going to look to stop the running game and force South Florida quarterback B.J. Daniels to beat them. Daniels has completed just 52 percent of his passes and has 10 touchdowns with six interceptions while averaging only 137 passing yards per-game.

For South Florida, the Bulls have struggled against the run, so the Knights will have to rely on running back Joe Martinek to lead the way. Martinek has 601 yards and seven touchdowns in eight games. He is averaging five yards per-carry. If he is unable to get going, Tom Savage will have to step up. Savage is the better quarterback of the two teams and is capable of leading his team down the field.

Due to Rutgers having steadier quarterback play and both teams having such even statistics, the Knights seem like the better pick given the point spread odds have them getting a point at home. South Florida wants to run the ball and that plays into Rutgers strength. Trends show that the Knights have the edge in this series history and expect the same to continue on Thursday night.

Our College Football Week 11 Free Pick for this matchup is: RUTGERS +1 and UNDER 45.5.
