Sunday NBA Opinion
Minnesota (+1 1/2) over OKLAHOMA CITY

Minnesota is an improved team this season and they are certainly better than a horrible Thunder squad that will be trying to win for their new home fans. The Thunder apply to a negative 32-71-1 ATS early season angle, but the best part of that angle does not apply, so I've decided to pass on making this game a Best Bet. I'll lean with Minnesota at +1 or more

PATRIOTS/COLTS UNDER

Game: New England Patriots vs. Indianapolis Colts Game Time: 11/2/2008 8:15:00 PM Prediction: under Reason: I'm playing on the Colts and Patriots to finish UNDER the total. While it's the Titans on top of the conference so far this season, it's the Colts and Patriots which have been the class of the AFC in recent years. When we think of games between these two AFC heavyweights, we generally tend to picture high-scoring shootouts with Brady and Manning throwing the ball over the field. Granted, there have been a few matchups like that in this series. However, more often than not, the games have been lower-scoring than expected. The most recent meeting in the series came almost exactly one year ago (11/4/07) and had a total in the mid 50s. However, the teams combined for 44 points. That brought the UNDER to 17-11 the last 28 series meetings, including 8-5 in games played here at Indianapolis. Of course, with Tom Brady still sidelined, this year's meeting has an entirely different feel to it. Cassel has been improving and is coming off back to back solid outings. Those games came vs. St. Louis and Denver though and those two teams both entered this week ranked in the bottom four in the entire NFL, in terms of points allowed. While the Colts have only been mediocre defensively this season, they've still been significantly better on that side of the ball than either the Rams or Broncos. Additionally, they may well be getting Bob Sanders back and he energizes the entire defense. Back to Cassel, even with his recent success, he still has just seven touchdowns (6 INT's) on the season. While Peyton Manning will be leading the Colts, he hasn't been his usual dominant self this season. After missing the preseason with a staph infection in his left knee, he's been very ordinary through the first half of the season. He has a modest 10 touchdowns to go along with a whopping nine interceptions. He is completing just 61.1% of his passes and has a 79.0 passer rating. Including last season's game here, the Patriots have seen the UNDER go 5-2 in November the past two seasons. During the same stretch, the Colts have seen the UNDER go 6-2 in their eight November games. They've also seen the UNDER go 2-0 the last two times that they were coming off consecutive straight up losses. Look for the Colts to bounce back with a big defensive effort this week and for the final combined score to prove lower than expected once again. *Main Event
