Alex Smart

Colorado Avalanche -150.0

The Colorado Avalanche are one of the league's best home teams , and despite of rash of injuries are a team that must be respected in their own building. The Columbus Blue Jackets are a much improved team this season, but are just 7-13-2 on the road and have not faired well in Denver in the past losing 12 of 13 tilts while getting out scoring t 49-18 during that span. Note: Columbus goalie Leclaire is 0-4-1 in along with a bloated 3.85 GAA in 5 starts in this series. Colorado is 9-0 L/9 Sunday games winning straight up by an average of 2.5 GPG. Play on Colorado

BIG AL

At 8 pm, our Revenge Game of the Month is on the Washington State Cougars, who have lost 13 straight games to Oregon since 2002.

At 4 pm, our Big 10 Game of the Month is on the Minnesota Golden Gophers minus the points over Michigan State, as Tubby Smith's men fall into a 73-37 ATS system of mine that plays on certain conference home teams, priced from -8 to pk, who are matched up against a foe off a win.

At 8:05 pm, our selection is on the New Jersey Nets over Phoenix, as New Jersey falls into 24-0 and 61-32 ATS systems of mine.

At 3 pm, on Sunday, our selection is on the New England Patriots over San Diego.

At 6:30 pm, on Sunday, our NFL Playoff Game of the Year is on the Green Bay Packers minus the points over the NY Giants. New York is playing solid football, no doubt, but this will be its third consecutive road game in the Playoffs

Triple Threat Sports!

2* Wake Forest (-) over Florida State

Seminoles are off big games vs Duke and Clemson, making a letdown spot quite likely here. For their part, Wake has home wins this season over BYU, Air Force, and Virginia Tech, and they are also 7-2 SU as series host. Finally, Demon Deacons playing with revenge for an eight point loss in Tallahassee last season, a game that saw FSU enjoy a big home home referee edge, shooting 18 and making 16 more free throws. Now that "home cooking" is on the side of WF, we look for things to even out today.

New England -14 over San Diego

I don't know where to start with the Chargers. Last week they played great when Rivers and LT went down, but that was in a dome against a defense that was getting tired. Today they will be in frigid weather playing against the best team in NFL history. We all know New England has to win this game. Its bad for NFL marketing not to have the Patriots in the Super Bowl after this magical season. The Chargers might be without their big NT Jamaal Williams and if not he is not going to be 100%. I look for the Pats to run the ball well in addition to the passing game. Billy Volek will probably start today for the Chargers. If New England gets a big lead LT will be useless and in this weather it could be ugly. The Patriots have not covered a lot while San Diego has covered 8 in a row. Its time for that streak to end. Take New England

Giants +7.5 over Packers

I would not call it an upset if NY won this game, but nobody is give this team a shot. There is something about this team that wont quit and can play from behind. Tom Coughlin looks like one miserable dude, but he has changed his ways with his players and all of a sudden this years team is playing with fire. This Giants team has a lot of guys hungry for a super bowl ring while the Packers are still a young team and have time to grow. Eli Manning has matured a great deal and the running game has been awesome. This Giants team is also protecting the football. The conditions in this game will be very windy which is good for the Giants because Favre struggles in high winds, remember the Chicago game this year? It would be great to see Favre vs Brady in the Super Bowl and it would be the highest rated Super Bowl ever which is great for the NFL, but New York is a high market team and would bring a lot of viewers also. This spread is a little high. Take the GMen.

Sports Gambling Hotline

ACC action this afternoon, and we will ride the home-loving Demon Deacons over the slumping Seminoles of Florida State.

Florida State has lost their last pair in conference action, dropping an overtime game at Clemson, and collopsing at home against Duke earlier this week. Overall, the Seminoles have failed 3 in a row against the spread, and are just 3-5 both straight up and against the spread on the highway this year.

Wake Forest has also lost their last pair of games, but both games came on the road, at home the Deacons are a perfect 10-0 straight up this year, 14 in a row dating back to last year, and they have covered in 3 of 4 lined home games this season.

We will stick with those positive Wake trends and go with the Demon Deacons in this one, as they seek revenge for a 2006 home loss at the hands of Florida State.

Play on Wake.
3*WAKE FOREST

Greg Shaker

double-dime bet St. Louis -1.0 vs Temple
Analysis: NCAAB: Temple Owls at Saint Louis Billikens | Unit Value: 2 DIMES

Note: The Billikens were a scary proposition early in the year as they were getting accustomed to what new Head Coach Rick Majerus had in store for them. They still have a lot to learn and one of those is being able to compete away from the Gateway City, but here they have found a way to get it done. He had this to say following the Dayton OT loss, "They try to please me to a fault, so they get kind of apprehensive. Some of the guys are so smart that they try to quantify decisions. Remember, everyone is a freshman out there. This is their first year (playing in this system). I'm trying to get them to be more assertive." That game was very important for this team despite losing and it all came together with a strong performance beating Rhode Island. They held the visitors to just 34.3 percent from the field, 15 percentage points below their season average. In SLU's past seven games, the best an opponent has shot is 43.8 percent. In four of those seven games, the opponent has shot 40 percent or worse. They will have another test today with hot shooting Temple in town. The Owls are coming off their biggest win of the season, beating Xavier but it is back on the road where they have had some problems this year themselves, with just a 3-6 mark and much less offensive performance. St Louis is very physical and very aggressive on D, utilizing a strong man to man defense. It will be somewhat of a different scenerio today with the Owls being more of a perimiter team and frankly I think a better one. Temple is going to be hawked all game, as their will be no chance for zone passing. The Billikens matchup well with Temple because they will not be outmanned on the boards, a problem they have experienced many times this year. They will get some re-ups and they will be able to limit those by the visitors. That is what makes the Rhode Island win so impressive, because matchup-wise, they did not have the horses in that game. They do in this one and momentum should carry over for us with another solid performance.
