This shapes up to be the worst regular season the model has ever experienced; and, depending on how things look under the hood – when I do the offseason post mortem – it may be the last. Three straight years of losing just may be enough. Each week, the algorithm sorts through nearly 80 team/player variables and matching weights, and clearly, either the variables or how I’ve weighted them are wrong; but, whatever the problem, I just may throw in the towel. The game, over the years, has obviously changed in terms of its dynamics, and I simply haven’t kept pace, but worse, I don’t think I can get my aged brain in the right gear anymore. I’ll continue to stumble through the playoffs, but next year is a big question.
