EagleBank Bowl Pick
Bowl season in college football kicks off this year with the 2008 EagleBank Bowl set to kickoff at RFK Stadium between Wake Forest and Navy.
Our team of writers and handicappers break down the matchup and hand out a College Football Bowl Free Pick for the EagleBank Bowl, which takes place Saturday, December 20th at 11:00AM ET.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Sports Interaction have made Wake forest –3 point spread favorite. The over/under for this game has been set at 43.5 total points.
Key Trend: Navy is 6-3 against the spread in their last nine games and 4-1 straight up in their last five games. The total has also gone under in four of Navy’s last five games, while the total has gone under in seven of Wake Forest’s last 10 games.
Key Stat: Navy is averaging a whopping 294.8 yards per game on the ground this season while Wake Forest is allowing 116.1 rushing yards per game in 2008.
Game Outlook: This is the Midshipmen’s sixth straight winning season and the second consecutive year that they’ll open up the Bowl Season. Last year, Navy took Utah to the wire and covered the 7.5 point spread in a 35-32 loss. Oddsmakers won’t be as gracious this season, but that’s because they’re playing an inconsistent Wake Forest program. The Demon Deacons have an underrated defense, holding opponents to only 18.3 points per game, but Navy doesn’t hide from what it does best: run the football. They’re averaging close to 300 yards per game on the ground this year and have worn out opponents in the second half of games. Wake’s secondary is outstanding, but they won’t get much work come Saturday and we like Navy to grind out a win. And with Navy keeping the ball mostly on the ground, we love the under. See below for the rest of our college football bowl pick.

Pioneer Las Vegas Bowl Pick
Sam Boyd Stadium will be the host of the 2008 Las Vegas Bowl and will feature the 10-2 BYU Cougars and the 7-5 Arizona Wildcats.
Our team of writers and handicappers break down the matchup and hand out our pick for the Las Vegas Bowl, which takes place Saturday, December 20 at 8:00PM ET.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Sports Interaction have made Arizona -3 point spread favorite. The over/under for this game has been set at 60 total points.
Top Betting Trend: BYU is just 1-7 against the spread in its last eight games, while Arizona is 11-5 against the spread in their last 16.
Key Stat: Both of these teams are averaging over 30 points a game this season, with BYU averaging 35.3 PPG and Arizona 37.1 PPG. Both programs are also allowing almost the identical points per game. BYU has allowed 21.2 PPG and Arizona has allowed 21.3 PPG.
Game Outlook: The Cougars are no stranger to the Las Vegas Bowl as this will be the fourth consecutive year BYU has appeared in this bowl game. BYU has struggled defensively over the second half of the season, which is something Arizona doesn’t have an issue with. The Wildcats rank 20th in the nation in stopping the run and 16th against the pass so it’ll be tough sledding for the Cougars in Vegas. Oddsmakers have made BYU an underdog just twice this year and both times they lost by more than 20 points. We don’t think the Wildcats will blow the Cougars out in this one, but we do think they’ll cover. Check out the rest of our College Football Bowl Free Pick below.

New Mexico Bowl Pick
The 7-5 Fresno State Bulldogs and the 6-6 Colorado State Rams square off in the 2008 New Mexico Bowl in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Our team of writers and handicappers break down the matchup and hand out a 2008 New Mexico Bowl, which takes place on Saturday, December 20 at 2:30PM ET.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Sports Interaction have made Fresno State -3 point spread favorite. The over/under for this game has been set at 59.5 total points.
Top Betting Trend: Fresno State is 1-10 against the spread in its last 11 games, while Colorado State 5-2 against the spread in its last seven contests when playing Fresno State. The total has also gone over in five of Colorado State’s last six games.
Key Stat: Fresno State is allowing a whopping 197.3 rushing yards per game, as well as 30.3 points per game.
Game Outlook: This will be the first time since 2005 that Colorado State appeared in a bowl. The Rams won their last two games to become bowl eligible, so they enter this game with some momentum (so to speak). Fresno might be the better team, but they haven’t covered many games this season, going just 1-10 against the spread in their last 11 contests. Granted, they are 15-7 straight up in their last 22 games, but unless you plan on taking them on the moneyline, Colorado State seems to be the better play because they could potentially win outright. The key in this game will be whether or not the Rams can get their running game going. The Bull Dogs have failed to stop the run all year and if CSU can control the line of scrimmage, they can rush their way to a victory. This is one of the tougher bowl games to predict, but we like the dog in this game and could easily see a straight up win for Colorado State.
