Top Five College Football Preview
By Jerry Lambert
Welcome to another exciting College Football season and we here at Great Lakes Sports will give our predictions for the NCAA Top Five for the 2010-2011 season and who we think will win the National Championship and as always good luck this season from Great Lakes Sports .
1. Ohio State - The Buckeyes are loaded on the offensive side of the ball with nine returning starters including 6'6" Junior QB Terrelle Pryor who could be the Big Ten player of the year this year. The Ohio State Buckeyes also has six starters back on defense but do have a lot of depth on the defensive side of the ball. This could be one of more aggressive Buckeye teams in recent memory and we will call for the Ohio State Buckeyes to win the National Championship this year.
2. Alabama - The Alabama Crimson Tide are the returning National Champs and have ten starters back including Senior QB Greg McElroy who threw for for 2,508 yards with a 17-4 ratio. The glaring weakness will be their defense with only two returning starters back this season. The Alabama Crimson Tide will have no trouble scoring points and with a favorable schedule we look for the Alabama Crimson Tide to be the second best team in the country this season.
3. Oklahoma - The Oklahoma Sooners is our surprise team this year, as they are coming off a 8-5 record last year but lost four games by seven points or less. The Sooners return eight starters on offense and five on defense including 6'4" Sophomore Landry Jones who threw for 3,198 yards with twenty-six touchdowns. The Oklahoma Sooners are very athletic and if they can win the Big Twelve Championship they also will have a shot at the NCAA Title but for now we will call for the Oklahoma Sooners to become the third best team in the country.
4. Boise State - The Boise State Broncos are loaded this year with twenty starters back including Junior QB Kellen Moore who threw for an outstanding 3,536 yards with an amazing 39-3 ratio. If Boise State can win the season opener against Virginia Tech, the Broncos will run the table. We look for the high powered Boise State offense to propelled the Broncos into the fourth best team in the country.
5. Miami Florida - The Miami Florida Hurricanes are once again among the nations elite coming off a solid 9-4 season. The Canes are led by 6'4" Junior QB Jacory Harris who threw for 3,352 yards and twenty-four touchdowns. The Hurricanes have tough games at Ohio State and Georgia Tech and we look for a split in those two games. The Miami Florida does have an above average offense and the question mark will be how well the defense will perform, as for now we here at Great Lakes Sports look for the Miami Florida Hurricanes to be the fifth best team in the country.
