IDAHO

Game: Idaho vs. Gonzaga Game Time: 11/13/2007 8:00:00 PM Prediction: Idaho Reason: I'm taking the points with IDAHO. Gonzaga is back with another strong team this year and the Bulldogs got a strong debut from prized recruit, Austin Daye. That being said, the Bulldogs are currently playing without star forward Josh Heytvelt and I feel that this line is too high. The Vandals bring some confidence into tonight's matchup as they are coming off their first opening game victory in the past four years, a 110-52 pasting of Cascade College. The Vandals got double-digits in scoring from six different players, including 25 from junior guard Trevor Morris. While they haven't beaten Gonzaga in several years, the Vandals were a perfect 6-0 ATS the last two seasons when listed as a road underdog in the +24.5 to +30 range. That includes back to back pointspread wins by the Vandals here the past two seasons. In fact, the Vandals are 3-0 ATS their last three games here, losing by an average of 16 points each game and never by more than 25. Look for them to hang within the big number tonight as the Bulldogs drop to 0-4 ATS the last four times they were listed as home favoirtes in the -24.5 to -30 range. *Best Bet

BURNS:

MAC - GOW:

Toledo vs. Ball St. Game Time: 11/13/2007 7:30:00 PM Prediction: Toledo Reason: I'm taking the points with TOLEDO. Both teams have equal 5-5 records. Combine that with the fact that these MAC West rival will face each other on National TV and that makes this a very big game for both schools. For a few year's there was talk of the "Muncie Jinx" around the Toledo campus as the Rockets have lost some big games here. The Rockets traveled to Muncie in 1997 with an 8-0 record and #18 ranking, only to come up short. In 2001 Toledo was 5-0, before giving up a kick return for a touchdown late in the game and losing at Ball State 24-20. In 2003 Toledo was 5-2 and 3-0 in the MAC before losing here at Muncie. However, the last time the teams met here (in 2005) the Rockets overcame the "Jinx" by recording a solid 34-14 win. A win tonight will ensure the Rockets don't finish with a losing record. It should also pretty much wipe out any more talk of the "Muncie Jinx." The Rockets come in on a roll and I expect them to have success tonight. Aaron Opelt was named the starting quarterback for Toledo coming into the season, but struggled early before missing a couple of games with a leg injury. However, since coming back (vs. Ohio) he has been an entirely different quarterback. In fact, Opelt has led the Rockets to three consecutive victories while passing for 867 yards with 7 touchdowns and zero interceptions. Opelt even added a couple of rushing touchdowns. As a unit, the Rockets' offense is averaging 55 points over the last three games. The passing game has led to a more effective running game too. Jalen Parmele and DaJuane Collins are combining for 249.3 yards rushing per game over that span, adding 11 rushing touchdowns. This all equates to the MAC's #1 offense in three categories; total offense, scoring offense, and rushing offense. In fact, Toledo is ranked in the top 25 in the country at each of those three statistical categories. I expect that them to have success vs. a Ball State squad which comes off three straight tough road games and which ranks just 10th in the MAC in scoring defense and 11th in rushing defense. While the Rockets' defense has also struggled much of the year, the unit has improved significantly the last two games. The Rockets are 6-3 the last nine series meetings and two of those losses came by four points or less. The Rockets are also 15-4 SU and 14-4-1 ATS their last 19 games played in the month of November. Look for those numbers to improve this evening. *MAC GOW

NBA NOVEMBER GOM:

Boston Celtics vs. Indiana Pacers Game Time: 11/13/2007 7:05:00 PM Prediction: Indiana Pacers Reason: I'm taking the points with INDIANA. The Celtics have gotten off to a very impressive start. However, that hot start has caused this line to be much too high. This is also an extremely difficult scheduling spot for the Celtics, as they find themselves 'sandwiched' between a pair of games vs. the Nets, their biggest division rival. Regardless of the scheduling situation, the Celtics have struggled here at Indiana recently. In fact, the Pacers have won three straight series meetings here and are 12-5 the last 17 meetings here. After blowing a big lead vs. Denver, the Pacers have had a couple of days off to recover and prepare for tonight's game. That's worth mentioning as we find them at a profitable 19-7-1 ATS (73%) the past two seasons when playing with two or more day's rest in between games. Note that the Pacers are also 10-4-1 ATS the last 15 times they faced a team which comes in allowing 91 or fewer points per game. Despite coming up short vs. Denver, the Pacers got "double-doubles" from both Murphy and O'Neall. That was the first double-double for O'Neall, who averaged 17.5 points and 12.2 rebounds against Boston last season. I expect him to follow up that performance with another big game tonight, helping to inspire his teammates. Dating back to last November, the Celts are just 4-16 the last 20 times they played the front half of back to back games and only one of those four victories came on the road. Expect them to have their hands full vs. a focused and motivated Pacers team this evening. *November GOM

Blue Chip Total

Philadelphia 76ers vs. Dallas Mavericks Game Time: 11/13/2007 8:35:00 PM Prediction: under Reason: I'm playing on Dallas and Philadelphia to finish UNDER the total. These teams produced 172 combined points when they met here last season, as the 76ers managed a mere 79 points. Including that low-scoring contest, the 76ers have seen the UNDER go a profitable 36-23-2 (61%) against teams from the Western Conference. This season's lone game against a Western Conference opponent came on Sunday and the 76ers and Hornets combined for only 165 points. The Mavericks also come off an extremely low-scoring game as they combined with Portland for 173 points. Note that both those games stayed below the posted over/under line by 25 or more points. The fact that Dallas lost that Saturday night game at Porltand is worth mentioning as we find the UNDER at 20-13-1 the last two seasons when the Mavs played with two or more day's rest in between games and 19-14 when they were coming off a SU loss when listed as a favorite. Look for another relatively low-scoring contest this evening as the UNDER moves to 5-1 the last six times the 76ers played here. *Blue Chip Total

PERSONAL FAVORITE NHL:

Florida Panthers vs. Atlanta Thrashers Game Time: 11/13/2007 7:05:00 PM Prediction: Atlanta Thrashers Reason: I'm laying the price with ATLANTA. These teams met in Florida a few nights ago and the Thrashers won by a score of 4-1. While the Thrashers haven't played since Saturday, the Panthers lost vs. Carolina last night. That's worth noting as the Thrashers are already 4-1 (+4.9) this season when playing with two days rest in between games. On the other hand, the Panthers are 0-8 the last eight times they played a road game, after having played the previous day. Note that the Panthers are also now a dismal 6-26 (-21.2) in the month of November since the start of the 2005 season. The Thrashers got off to a slow start after winning the division last season. However, they've been much better since making a coaching change. They're also a perfect 10-0 the last 10 times they hosted the Panthers. Considering that type of series domination, the scheduling situation and the fact that I feel the Thrashers are simply a better team, I feel the price is more than reasonable. *Personal Favorite

Tuesday's Plays...

10 Dime –

BALL STATE

Lay the points with Ball State tonight when they host Toledo.

Not much defense to brag about for either squad, but this is the first away game for Toledo after a 3-0 homestand. The Rockets haven’t been much on the road this year, going 0-3 SUATS and losing each of those games by double digits.

Ball State is coming home off a three-game road trip, which saw them lose to Illinois 28-17 as a 13 ½ point dog and 38-20 to Indiana as a 6 ½ point dog.

Toledo just hasn’t been a solid bet on the road for a while now, going 8-21 ATS in its last 29. They are also just 2-9 ATS when playing on grass.

Ball State has played the tougher schedule of the two and they have been competitive in all of the games against the bigger schools. I think they’re more than capable of stretching this lead out to more than a touchdown tonight against a pedestrian Toledo defense.

Ball State is on positive ATS runs of 20-8 overall, 7-2 in November and 6-2 in conference play.

Lay the points as Ball State wins and covers.

5 Dime –

GEORGE MASON

Lay the big number with George Mason over Cleveland State.

The Patriots return all five starters from last year’s squad, and coach Jim Larranaga has an excellent chance of getting this team back to the NCAA tournament after his Cinderella Final Four ride during the 2005-06 season.

Cleveland State is more fodder than anything. They don’t have the athletes to hang with the Patriots or the system to get past Larranaga.

Will Thomas will handle the paint while do-everything swingman Folarin Campbell makes the Patriots go.

There’s just too much experience and determination with this George Mason team not to take them in this matchup with a lesser team.

Lay the points as the Patriots cruise past Cleveland State.

LAKERS

Take the points with the Lakers tonight when they visit San Antonio.

Kobe Bryant has had success against the Spurs over his career, and the Lakers as a team played the defending champs tough each game last season.

The Lakers beat the Spurs two out of their three matchups, with the only loss a two-point overtime defeat at home. They covered in all three games last year and Phil Jackson’s bunch is 6-2 ATS against the Spurs in the last eight meetings.

The road team sports a 7-2 ATS mark in this series.

San Antonio is a great defensive team, but Kobe is such a dominant one-on-one player they seem to struggle as to how to defend him.

Take the Lakers plus the points as they stay close with the Spurs.

Vegas Experts Tip Of The Day

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

6~3 this month free & Solid

The oddsmaker clearly does not have a handle on the Houston-Memphis series with last year's totals ranging from 178.5 to 207.5. Tonight's total opened at 198.5. Does that call for an over or an under?
`````````````````````````````````````````````````` `````````
Grizzlies gave up 110 and 118 their last two but that was on the road. Expect some defensive intensity here at home. Clubs have gone under in 26-of-43 meetings overall, 13-of-22 in Memphis including the last four. Rockets held their last three opponents and three of their last four in the 80's. Game falls into a situation that says to Play Under with Home teams where the total is between 190 and 199.5 points who have allowed 100+ 2 straight games against opponent after a game where both teams scored 90 points or less. That angle is 26-6 for 81.2% over the last five seasons.
Ball State (5-5, 3-2) returns to MAC play off losing two straight, vs. Big Ten teams, including a 38-20 loss at (6-5, 2-5) Indiana last week. Your free play for Tuesday is on the Lakers plus the points at the Spurs.
Never easy to go against Duncan, Parker, Ginobili and the defending world champs no matter what the pointspread is, because they’re just so damn good. However, I do believe there is a lot of value with the underdog in this spot.
First off, while San Antonio is off to a 6-1 start, it is just 3-4 ATS, including 2-2 ATS at home. That includes a 10-point win over a horrible Miami Heat squad six days ago – believe what you want about the Lakers, but trust me, they’re miles better than Miami is so long as Dwyane Wade is in street clothes.
And while the Spurs have struggled to cash tickets, the opposite is true with L.A. Kobe and Co. are 4-1 ATS on the season, including 3-0 ATS as an underdog. Finally, the Lakers were one team that actually had success against San Antonio last year, winning two of three meetings, with the lone loss being a two-point overtime setback.
If you go back to the end of the 2005 season, you’ll see that the Lakers are 6-2 ATS against San Antonio, with all six covers coming as an underdog.
Bottom line: While I don’t quite see the Lakers winning this game, I do see them hanging in the whole way and getting inside this inflated number. Back Los Angeles plus the points.
The major edges allotted the Celtics comes from their triangle shooting system and the efforts of a decent bench that allows valued rest periods for the starters. This is a major reason how the Beantown guys have started with a 5-0 straight up run. On the other hand, Indiana opened the new campaign with a 3-0 mark, but has faltered of late at 0-3 SU. With the injury to forward/center Ike Diogu, the Indiana bench has taken a huge hit and that played out against Denver with the opposition out-scoring the Pacers 57-32 in the second half for a 113-106 win.
Although this is a huge bounce-back game for Indy, we doubt they have the offensive guns (Boston FG 52.3%) to stay close throughout. Indiana is 0-3 ATS at home (1-7 ATS last eight), while Boston is 2-0 ATS on the road this season. Further, the Celtics are 7-0 ATS after scoring over 100 points in their prior outing, 6-0 ATS in Indiana and 7-1 ATS overall against the Pacers.
Take Ball State -5.5 over Toledo.
Ball State has covered the spread in three of the last four games against Toledo, plus the Cardinals are 6-3 (66%) ATS this year. Senior running back Jalen Parmele is the BIG rocket for Toledo rushing for over 1,300 hundred yards and 13 TDs this season. Dante Love is the "triple-threat" difference maker for the Cards. Whether it's as a receiver, a running back or kick returners he'll need to be accounted for at all times. In what should be a real shoot-out, I'm going with the home favorite.
Bobby Maxwell
L.A. Lakers at SAN ANTONIO (-8')
It?s a two-game Texas road trip for the Lakers and the first stop comes in San Antonio where the Spurs are ready to deliver a beatdown to a far inferior team. The Spurs are so much better than the Lakers, it?s hard to believe this will be anything but a double-digit win for San Antonio.
The Spurs are 4-0 SU at home and winning games by an average of 15 points per game. The experience on this roster is unbelievable and they?ll be able to frustrate the Lakers tonight, D-up on Kobe Bryant and manhandle the Lakers on the boards.
There?s nobody on the Lakers? roster that can hang with Tim Duncan if he is ready to play inspired basketball. And the guard play of Tony Parker and Manu Ginobilli give this team all the leadership and scoring punch they need.
This team is built for the playoffs but they?ll turn up the heat tonight against the Lakers.
Yeah, the Lakers went to Phoenix on Nov. 2, their only road game of the season, and delivered a huge 119-98 win as a nine-point underdog. But we all know the Spurs play a ton more defense than the Suns.
Let?s play San Antonio to cover the number and come back with a blowout win.
2? SAN ANTONIO
Bobby Maxwell
Nevada (-4') at U.C. IRVINE
Yes, we know Nevada lost its star player off last year?s team, Nick Fazekus, but this team has got plenty of scorers back and enough experience to lead them to a good season and especially a big win tonight in Irvine.
The WolfPack went to Central Florida on Saturday and fell 63-60 as a two-point underdog. Marcelus Kemp had 19 points and Armon Johnson had 13 points, five assists and five rebounds. These two are quality players and know what it takes to win.
Irvine opened up at home against Loyola Marymount and scored a 74-61 win as a 10-point favorite. Four players reached double digits but don?t look for that to happen tonight as Nevad can play defense and will limit their opportunities.
These two teams met last year on Nov. 21 with Nevada scoring an 83-64 win but the WolfPack failed to cover as 21-point home favorites. Nevada is 11-4-2 ATS in its last 17 road games.
The Anteaters are just 5-11 ATS in their last 16 home games and 6-13 ATS in their last 19 overall. Irvine is not the team that will lead you to the pay window. Nevada is and has proven it over the last few years with big wins.
We?re going to back the WolfPack in this one. Play Nevada.
My free pick of the day is the game between (505) BOS Celtics and (506) IND Pacers. Take "(505) BOS Celtics". What a difference a trade makes! Actually, two trades. Bringing Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett to Boston alongside Paul Pierce has totally transformed the Green from a bad team to a terrific one. They are 5-0 SU/ATS whipping opponents by 17 ppg. The Celtics are the NBA.5?s last remaining undefeated team. BAGZ FROM GAMBLERS EDGE IS A FAG They cleaned up their three games in four nights by margins of 20, 23 and 11. Rebuilding Indiana is on an 0-3 SU/ATS run, for new coach coach Jim O'Brien. The Pacers squandered an eight-point lead in Charlotte on Friday by giving up a 20-2 run to start the fourth quarter. Two nights earlier they led the Los Angeles Clippers at halftime, only to be outscored 32-14 in the third period, and come off a game blowing a 25-point lead. Play the Celtics!
Dave Cokin
My free pick of the day is the game between (525) Rice and (526) TCU. Take "(526) TCU". "It looks like a down year for Rice. Morris Almond has moved on, and there's no way he can be replaced. Almond took nearly 40% of the Owls shots last season and was a lights out long range shooter. The Owls leading scorer back from last season averaged only 6.3 ppg. They have size up front, but not much proven talent. I also don't like the fact their coach was trying to find another job after last season. TCU has a legit chance to be substantially improved this season, especially early, as they have a wealth of experience. Good spot for the Horned Frogs to post a confidence-building blowout against what looks to be a pretty weak invader. I'll give the points with TCU."
At first glance with the 5-1 Pistons playing at the 3-3 Blazers, this one seems like a no brainer. But you have to go a little deeper to really find out what?s going on here.
The Pistons so far this season are only 3-3 ATS and only 1-3 their L4 games ATS.
The Blazers on the other hand have won three consecutive games SU and have won four games in a row ATS.
Portland seems to be the beneficiary of playing at home. They had recorded three losses in a row SU, but were 2-1 ATS. Since starting this home stand they?re undefeated.
Now they get the Pistons at home, a couple days after an ATS loss at Seattle.
It?ll be close, but go with Portland tonight.
Toledo Rockets (+) @ Ball State @ 7:30 ET - The Rockets are heating up at the right time of the season and momentum goes a long way at this time of year. We don't see the Cardinals as being able to slow Toledo down. The Rockets rushing attack is going to be the difference here. While Toledo continues to pile up yardage on the ground, Ball State is struggling to move the ball overland.
The Cardinals offensive line is accepting responsibility for the ground game struggles (as well as for allowing too many sacks). However, we're sure that Ball State's offensive linemen aren't going to be able to fix everything in one week's time either. In other words, look for the Cardinals to continue to struggle in the trenches this week. As a result, the Rockets will likely spring the upset or, if not, they will at least stay inside the generous point spread here. Play Toledo plus the points as your
Marco D'Angelo | NBA Sides Single-Dime Bet
509 PHI 12.5 (-110) Bodog vs 510 DAL
Analysis: Perfect set up for the Road Dog to cover the inflated number as Dallas returns home from a weekend road trip off of a loss looking to bounce back. They face a team that just lost at home by 21 points in their last game. This is a great situation to take the dog as we are receiving an inflated number and we have an added bonus that Dallas plays the World Champion Spurs in their next game. So how focused will they be here. If all of that wasn't enough to support our Philadelphia we find that PHILADELPHIA is 16-4 ATS in road games off 2 or more consecutive home losses since 1996. Everything points for Philadelphia to get the money in this one. Take PHILADELPHIA as MARCO'S TUESDAY NIGHT NBA POWER PLAY and make them a SINGLE DIME PLAY.
Double Dime Wager=Philly Under 191
Tue, 11/13/07 - 8:30 PMStephen Nover | NBA Total
double-dime bet510 DAL / 509 PHI Under 191.0 Sportsbetting.com
Analysis: These two teams are each coming off horrendous offensive performances. Dallas shot just 36 percent from the field in its last game, scoring only 82 points in a loss to Portland. The Trail Blazers aren't exactly known for their defensive prowess.
The 76ers were even worse in their last game, scoring just 72 points. The 76ers are getting little production from their guards, are struggling with their perimeter game and averaged only 84 points last year against Dallas.
Philadelphia does rank No. 6 defensively, though, holding foes to 42.1 percent shooting from the field. Center Samuel Dalembert is a defensive presence in the middle.
The Mavericks are going to have to earn their points from the outside. Dirk Nowitzki, however, is in a shooting slump. He's made only 43 percent of his shots from the floor
