HOOPS TONIGHT
3* BOISE ST
3* TOLEDO
OPINIONS: OHIO ST - PACERS

At 7 pm, our selection is on the Toledo Rockets plus the points over Vanderbilt. This is a very tough scheduling spot for the Commodores, as it's their only road game among their first eight games, and Vandy plays just two road games amongst their first 15 overall. In contrast, Toledo will play the bulk of its non-conference schedule on the road (the Rockets play six straight road games after tonight), so winning this home game is ultra-important for Toledo. The Rockets got their 2007 campaign off to a strong start on Saturday when they upset Missouri State 57-53 as 3.5-point underdogs. Toldeo led that game by as many as 16 points in the first half, and off that win fall into severaly strong systems of mine. One is 76-43 ATS which plays on certain revenging home dogs off a win and cover who are matched up against a foe that's also off a win and cover. Toledo has played Vandy twice in the last three seasons, and dropped both meetings, including 98-93 last year, so the Rockets play this game with revenge. But those two meetings in 2004 and 2006 vs. Vandy were at the Commodores' home court, and that's a tough venue for a visitor to notch a win. With this game at Toledo, look for the Rockets to upset Vandy tonight.

At 7:05 pm, our selection is on the Indiana Pacers plus the points over Boston. Indy has dropped its last three games (both SU and ATS) after starting the season 3-0. The knee-jerk reaction might be to play against these Pacers tonight vs. the red-hot Celtics, but off those three losses, Indiana falls into a 62 percent angle. This system plays on non-division home dogs off three straight pointspread losses who are matched up against a foe off a pointspread win. This is also an underdog-oriented series with the dog covering 10 of the last 11 meetings (91%). Take the points with the Pacers. Good luck, as always...Al McMordie.

4-Unit Play. #521 Take South Florida -2 over Buffalo (7 pm)

The Bulls have a couple of scorers left over and this time around South Florida should be a more attractive team in the Big East. Chris Howard runs the point and he will be much more productive with a full season back from his knee injury. The athleticism of USF should be the difference here. Look for a big game from Gransberry, and ex-LSU product, and a strong outing by the Bulls.

3-Unit Play. #526 Take TCU -10 over Rice (8 pm)

The Owls lost way too much to even be considered a decent team in '07. Top scorer Maurice Almond was a first round draft pack, but Rice also must deal with the graduation of their second leading scorer as well. Quite frankly, you shouldn't put a last place finish past this team which is basically starting from scratch this fall. This one could get ugly, as TCU has four starters back. The Horned Frogs win big.

3-Unit Play. #562 Take Utah -5.5 over High Point (8 pm)

All three times the Utes have got together with High Point, they have absolutely drilled the Panthers. Yes, High Point has some good players, but Utah brings back three double digit scorers, and the duo of Johnnie Bryant and Luke Nevill will make a point to keep this series heavily favoring the Mountain West representative. Lay the number, as Utah comes through with a convincing win.

3-Unit Play. #529 Take Richmond +2.5 over East Carolina (8 pm)

East Carolina sat near the bottom of C-USA a season ago, and not much has changed to suggest anything will improve from their end. Richmind has started well, taking two of its first three games, and they'll stratch another one into the win column here.

3-Unit Play. #533 Take Wyoming -9 over Denver (9 pm)

Boasting the best backcourt in MWC, the Cowboys' duo of Brandon Ewing and Brad Jones will be sure to wreck havoc this season. Denver won just four games last season, and again they look to sit at the bottom of the Sun Belt. This is a one-sided affair, and we see no reason for anything less than a double digit romp by Wyoming.

3-Unit Play. #565 Take Loyola Chicago -4 over Eastern Illinois (8 pm)

The Ramblers were competitve in Horizon play last season, and some fresh faces will help them do just the same this time around. I think that's more than the Panthers can say for their respective conference, and we'll see Loyola take this early non-conference tilt of teams from the state of Illinois.

4-Unit Play. Take #562 Utah (-5.5) over High Point (8 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 13)
Hey, I’m all about the Big South. I rode Winthrop to some of my biggest scores over the past two years. But High Point ain’t Winthrop. They just got beat by middling Charlotte last week and now are heading into Seattle as a small dog. This Utes team is going to be a decidedly tougher, more physical team under new head coach Jim Boylen. High Point lost to four BCS conference teams last year, with three of the losses (I’m not counting a 25-point maiming at UNC) by an average of 15.7 points. I look for Utah to employ its new style and score a convincing win here.

3.5-Unit Play. Take #517 Vanderbilt (-4.5) over Toledo (7 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 13)
The Rockets are tough at home but are playing a team out of their weight class tonight. UT got dominated on the boards in their opener against Missouri State but held on for a win because they had a better backcourt. Not tonight. Shan Foster is the best player on the floor and if the Commodores can handle Toledo’s pressure (and I think Alex Gordon can) then 7-feet center Andrew Ogilvy should dominate the interior. Vandy is 5-2 ATS on the road and Toledo is 1-6 ATS in nonconference games.

3-Unit Play. Take #550 St. Joseph’s (+7.5) over Syracuse (7 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 13)
This number is trending upwards so wait as long as you can before making a play. I would also recommend buying up to +8.0.

In this game we have pure contrasts: experience vs. youth, and inside power vs. backcourt style. I think this number should be around 4.0 or 5.0 so we’ll take the Hawks here. They have a much more talented and proven frontcourt and if their guards can defend Syracuse a bit and not turn the ball over I actually think the Hawks can win this one outright. Syracuse shot light’s out last night so I expect a bit of a step back. Also, SU is full of freshman and sophomores and young teams are inconsistent.

2.5-Unit Play. Take #533 Wyoming (-9) over Denver (9 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 13)
I really like this Wyoming team and I just think that Denver isn’t any good. The Cowboys and their dynamic backcourt should be able to control the tempo in this one and ring up a 15-point win. Denver is 1-9 ATS in its last 10 games and of their 26 losses over the past two seasons, 18 have come by double digits.

2.5-Unit Play. Take #521 South Florida (-3) over Buffalo (7 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 13)
USF has more talent and is welcoming back their No. 1 player, center Kentrell Gransberry. I think he comes out and plays with a chip on his shoulder, as does the entire USF team, and they whale on a team that they beat by 16 just last year.

Doc’s Sports
4 Unit Play. #535 Take Nevada -2 over Cal-Irvine (10:35 pm) This is a neutral site game being played at the Anaheim Convention Center and thus their will be very little home court edge for the Anteaters. The Wolf Pack play in a much better conference and will have the best player on the floor in Marcelus Kemp, the preseason player on the year. He averaged over 18 points last year and Irvine will have no answer for him. UC-Irvine will be without Darrin Fells and thus a huge void will be there for the taking in the middle. Nevada is used to winning games and thus will keep their steak alive with a solid neutral site victory.

2 Unit Play. #519 Take Cleveland St +14 ½ over George Mason (Tuesday 11/13 7:00 PM)
4 Unit Play. #562 Take Utah –5 ½ over High Point (Tuesday 11/13 8:00 PM)
2 Unit Play. #570 Take Montana St –9 ½ over Long Beach St (Tuesday 11/13 9:00 PM)

Allen Eastman.
3-Unit Play Take #520 George Mason Patriots –14 over Cleveland State Vikings. (Tuesday, November 13, 7:00 pm EST).
George Mason will take the floor tonight looking to do something it hasn't in 12 seasons - start a season 2-0. The Patriots have won five straight season openers but each has been followed by a tough loss. The Patriots are coming off an 18-15 season giving them a school record nine straight seasons of finishing better than .500. In addition, the Patriots have their big guns back. The frontcourt still features Will Thomas (13 ppg, 7 rpg) and Folarin Campbell (14 ppg, 4 rpg). The two led the Patriots in scoring and rebounding. The backcourt returns juniors John Vaughan and Andre Smith. Cleveland State lost three starters from a team that was 10-21 last year and have ten new players on the roster. The Vikings were also 3-12 ATS on the road in 2006-07. George Mason is experienced and they're playing at home. While George Mason has the potential to be a 20-win team, it's a rebuilding year for Cleveland State. I like my chances with George Mason tonight.

Mike Davis 25* MAC TOTAL OF THE YEAR!! VERY RARE PLAY

Do you like shootouts? Well, there is going to be a truck load of points scored tonight as Ball State and Toledo hook up in a MAC shootout! Toledo quite possibly has one of the worst defenses in recent college football history. They allow 39.2 points per game and they will face an explosive offense tonight as Ball State can put up points in bunches. Ball State is averaging 31.1 points per game and they will feast on this Toledo defense in primetime on National Television. The emotion will be high and so will the score. Toledo's offense is even better. They can also put the ball in the end zone. They have scored 165 points in their last three games -- WOW! Parmele is a very good running back and he should improve his stats tonight vs. Ball State's 109th ranked run defense! This game should see around 80 points with ease. I look for this total to be covered early in the third quarter. Get your popcorn and sit back and get ready to watch a SHOOTOUT. TAKE THE OVER!!!

Vernon Croy's **10 Unit NBA slam Dunk of the Night** (6-1 Hoops Run)

Los Angeles Lakers vs San Antonio Spurs

10 Units, Take San Antonio -8, The Spurs are the superior overall team here and they have outscored their opponents by an average of 15 ppg at home this season. The Spurs are 22-12 ATS as a favorite of 6.5 to 9 points the last 3 seasons and the Lakers have had trouble with turnovers this season 17 turnovers per game and that number will grow against the Spurs tonight. I have the Spurs covering this number hands down tonight at home.
